the mountains is going to remain warm overnight in the 70s and 80s, that's why those areas are most susceptible to heat illness there. people that live or work let me look at what's going on along with the east bay hills camera. clearing out. fog made a late push this morning, it's gone. 62 at the coast, 67 by 3:00. bay, 77, 86. warm lunch at 87, hot this afternoon at 100. air will be cleaner and fall back into the 60s, 70s, 80s by 8:00. we have another chance of triple digits tomorrow and the threat of thunderstorms in my accuweather forecast. here's kristen with more news. this august heat is sending many people indoors to seek relief, and postponing the start of heat-induced projects. people and pets are trying to balance exercise with caution, matt. >> reporter: kristen, if you're headed to a park, make sure you find a spot with some shade.

big changes may be coming to the way you navigate market street. the better market street project was just approved, abc 7 news reporter tiffany wilson is live with new details, tiffany. >> reporter: hi, kristen, city officials are trying to reshape market street for the next 50 to 100 years. and that means big changes for everyone who commutes up and down this corridor. here's how some people describe navigating san francisco. >> it's pretty crowded and a little bit scary. >> reporter: the city wants the experience to be better and now after years of debate, officials have a plan to drastically change the market street corridor. most notably, private cars including uber and lyft will be banned from tenth street east. >> i don't like it because that's how i make my living. i pick up employees for work here from the em bark dare row station and drive them in. i don't know where i'd be able

to pick them up if i couldn't do it on market street. >> reporter: san francisco's public works director says cross traffic will still be allowed. commercial vehicles and delivery trucks will have access to the curb lane while muni will have exclusive use of the center lanes. >> the idea is to reduce the amount of congestion on it, make it a beautiful street and a beautiful urban place where people can enjoy it and have a great experience. >> reporter: they show the new proposed look including a sidewalk level bike lane. >> i'm excited about one that's completely separate. >> reporter: the brick pedestrian sidewalk will be replaced with concrete pavers. >> it does get slippery. i don't know if concrete is better. >> reporter: it has an estimated $604 million price tag. the city already has about 100 million set aside for construction. construction is expected to begin at the very end of next year. it will be completed in six different phases. live on market street in san francisco, tiffany wilson, abc 7

news. >> tiffany, thank you. developing news now, the dow has hit a new high. it passed 22,000 for the first time ever this morning. let's give you a live look at the big board. numbers from the new york stock exchange. we're hovering at just over 22,000, up slightly for the day, but a surge in apple stock raised the dow overall. shares went up 6% after a strong earnings report. new this morning, president trump just unveiled new legislation to reduce legal immigration to the u.s. the bill is a revised version of an immigration reform act introduced in february. it's called the raise act. the president says it would change the system from granting legal residency or green cards by giving priority to highly skilled immigrants. >> this competitive application process will favor applicants who can speak english, financially support themselves and their families, and demonstrate skills that will contribute to our economy.

developing news out of minnesota. rescuers are searching for two people in a collapsed building there in minneapolis. fire officials say a gas line exploded at a private zhool morning. firefighters quickly put out the fire and took five people to the hospital. police say one person is in critical condition, so far, no confirmed deaths. new morning, a royal send off of britain's prince phillip. the 96-year-old carried out his final official solo public appearance today in london

today. he met servicemen who have taken part in his 1600 mile trip in aid of charity. he will retire from public life after 65 years supporting his wife queen elizabeth. he has completed 22,219 solo engagements. happening today, amazon is on a hiring blitz, the retailers adding employees and expanding it's facilities. so, what does this mean for the online giant's future, jessica castro is here with more, jessica. >> yes, kristin, they're hiring all across the nation including here in the bay area. not uncommon for amazon to make a hiring push ahead of the holiday season, but roughly 40,000 of those jobs are full-time positions, experts say that could signal something bigger. >> reporter: amazon is getting bigger. the company going on a hiring blitz and expanding it's office space. in san francisco, the online giant is renting 180,000 square feet of space on market street.

this follows amazon's signing recent deals for space in both east palo alto and sunnyvale. now they're looking to hire more than 1,100 people in the bay area. meanwhile, in other parts of the country, a 12-state job fair was held today. >> this is actually one of the biggest hiring events in amazon's history. >> reporter: the online power house promising to fill 50,000 jobs in warehouses nationwide. >> we are expecting to offer on the spot job offers to thousands of future employees, so it's very exciting. >> reporter: they held huge job fairs from seattle to new jersey, the starting wages range from $11.50 to 13 bucks an hour. >> it's a fast-growing company. why wouldn't you want to work for amazon? >> it's like a cattle call. apply for a job and you could get contact through e-mail or phone and come on in for the interview. this is the first time i've done anything like this. >> reporter: may be retailers on

especially today. in fact, i was looking at the spread across san francisco. it's 58 in ocean beach and the castro at 71 right now. the microclimates are hitting san francisco. here's a look at the fog this morning. it was like a dodgers fan, arrived late and left early. thank you. thank you very much. i like that. yeah, they're first place, yeah, they have the best record in baseball, yeah, they just got hu darvish, i'm not going to say anything about that. absolutely gorgeous though, isn't it? now this is the way it looks, it's already gone. let's talk about what's going to happen. high clouds and sunshine, heat hangs on. there's a chance of thunderstorms, tonight, tomorrow, and friday is the monsoon flow steers our way and the heat will break by the weekend. i'm not kidding about that flow. we're seeing high clouds at 20,000 feet. whoa, look at that. look how active that flow is. from the board we are arizona and the baja all the way up, getting dloes big sur, and this is going to migrate northward for the next couple of days.

of jennifer ama kept her girls nods avoid the heat. eventually putting her two-year-old anastasia down for an afternoon nap. while there was no fan in the room and no air-conditioning, jennifer says the shades were down and a window cracked. >> came upstairs and it was like a sauna in her room. >> reporter: but when jennifer checked on her daughter after about 90 minutes, she noticed something was wrong. >> her face was swollen and red and she was sweating. and she felt like somebody lit her on fire. >> reporter: jennifer quickly called for help and when the ambulance arrived, her daughter's internal temperature had reached 104 degrees. >> hour after i was playing with her basically, it was her on a death bed. >> reporter: the paramedics treated her who woke up after about five minutes. jennifer later posting this picture on instagram to warn other parents. >> the reason i posted it is because i don't the president to happen to somebody's els baby. it was horrifying.
