the fire sparked to life at 1:15 in the canyon just east of the cal football stadium in the berkeley hills. sending an ominous plume of smoke visible in all dreirectio. this fire was within half of mile of the fire storm. >> reporter: due to the fire's proximity pge and ordered the cal campus to shut down all power at 2:40 as a recaution. no structures were threatened but husbanden of grazing goats were safely herded out.

relatively dry with humidity 22%. winds are gusting to 14 miles an hour. it's breezy with occasional gusts where the winds aren't strong there. this live doppler 7 shows the image from the smoke from the fire rising up to 10,000 feet in the atmosphere. these are the conditions that increase the fire danger. there will be limited cooling overnight. another hot afternoon is expected tomorrow with breezy conditions. vegetation is dry and fires could easily start and spread in these condition. i should mention our heat advisory that we've had the last couple of days have been extended to 9:00 tomorrow night. one more day of heat advisory mainly for hills and inland vallees where it will be hot once again. thank you so much, spencer. in san jose a heat advisory kept people and pet indoors this afternoon. >> they don't like it when it's hot.

news technically, it is a violation of federal law to open the plane's emergency door without crew member instruction. official say that's what a 17-year-old did at sfo yesterday but san mateo county district attorney says the case is not being referred for criminal prosecution. >> we have an over wing exit that's open. >> as the pilot radioed the control tower and passengered watched this surprise the teen jumped out, slid down the wing on to the tarmac. he was quickly detained and taken to a hospital near the airport. abc 7 news has learned the boy is bay area residents and u.s. citizen flying alone. he looked fidgety and distrau t distraught. there's no evidence it was terror related and no contrabands was found.

it's prompted new safety and security questions. >> now security officials for the airport and airliners will have to consider what are some of the precautions they have to take in order to make sure that somebody isn't doing this. that might include having some sort of trigger on the emergency exit. >> this happened on board flight 208 from panama city. the teen was sitting in the exit row. that is permitted as long as you're 15 years old. dan and alma. police in fremont have arrested man who fired a gun at the tesla plant. officers arrested reginald simon. he's an employee. investigators say he was clearing the gun to make sure it had no bullets. when it went off into the floor, simon is charged with possession of a concealed firearm and negligent discharge of a firearm. a san jose man is accused of

using a small recording device to record people including children in restroom. >> the 34-year-old was arrested monday after police received a tip about the possible hidden camera at enlightenment studio. >> reporter: well, san jose police were lucky to get the tip. they included an sd card with images that disturbed them. the very next day they were on the doorstep of man's studio and immediately charging him with possible making of child porn. now the enchantment studio is located in a store front in a strip mall. the sign says it offers art and music lessons plus academic tutors. they found images of a child under age ten. police say they also found a hidden camera in the bathroom at

the rear of the studio. electronic media have been turned over for analysis. neighboring shopkeepers say nguyen operated the studio seven day a week. police are trying to determine how many victim there is might be. a man who sent his grandson to the studio said he trusted nguyen. >> we're trying to determine exactly who is on the images. being that it's a sole bathroom facilit facility, not only are we concerned about children and pas parents and additional staff in any exist. >> five years he come here, my grandson. i trust him. he's doing good now in middle school because they help him. >> you trust mr. nguyen? >> yeah. >> reporter: i noticed posted on the studio website says the facility is closed for now and the staff is cooperating with law enforcement. it says the safety of the children is their prioritpriori. san jose police admit the

residents are upset after someone broke into their neighborhood's home. the victim a bay area community leader who served under multiple presidents now has dementia and her family can not help but wonder if she was targeted for that reason. chris nguyen has a story you'll see only on abc 7 news. >> reporter: in the hills some are questioning the safety of their neighborhood. >> we should all look after each other. never though someday it could happen to you. >> reporter: this after a man broke into the home of an elderly woman this week moments after she left with her caretaker to run errands. surveillance video catches the thief as he goes from room to room. a number of chinese antiques as well as jewelry and other priceless possessions were taken from the home. >> these memories of her past, of her husband are all that she has. they even took locks of her late husband ease hair. >> reporter: the victimdementia.

the sheriff's office is actively working this case. danville police are giving residents a heads up about an active shooter drill taking place tomorrow. the training exercise will take place between 8:00 and noon at a rock church. police say it will be limited to the areas within the church grounds. it will not extend into the surrounding neighborhood. it will involve similar plait systemlated explosive sounds. big changes may be coming to the way you navigate market street. the better market street project, as it's called was just approved and would affect traffic to 10th street. tiffany wilson has the story. >>s the pretty crowded and a little bit scary.
