oakland, 60. san jose, 64. half moon bay, 57 degrees. we're seeing clear skies over part of the bay from mt. tam. temperatures are in the oo 50s and santa rosa, till mild in concord and livermore near the mid-60s. still muggy during the 7:00 hour. by noon, clouds pull back to the coast. warm and sun thi this afternoon. drier afr before the sun sets a 8:14. >> thank you. this morning, investigators want to know why two murder suspects from chicago were in the bay area. northwestern university professor wyndham latham and andrew warren are accused of killing a 26-year-old man. they've been on the run for more than a week. u.s. marshals caught both last night in oakland. leslie brinkley has more. >> u.s. marshals say 42-year-old wyndham latham considered at the federal courthouse before 8:00 tonight.

56-year-old andrew warren surrendered at park station in san francisco around the same time. >> he was without incident. he did turn himself in and we confirmed he was wanted out of chicago for a murder. >> chicago police had been searching for the men since last thursday night. that's when 26-year-old trenton corn l was found stabbed to death in latham's luxury apartment. police say it was a gruesome scene. >> this place is very safe. most of the time. i've been here 14 years. >> police say the men appeared to have live nd the apartment together. lathen was an associate professor of micro biology at northwestern university. >> i had him give a talk and he seemed like a normal guy. >> police say latham put together a video apology he sent to family and friends, which they shared with u.s. marshals. they're not releasing the video because it's part of the investigation.

fire crew rescued seven people. heavier rain from the same pm sent a wall of mud and debris streaming through the arizona desert. it crushed a temporary camp site. a chopper crew from a phoenix tv station alerted the campers to the coming flood by circling around the camp and flying low. they got out in time and no one was hurt. clean up is underway in los angeles county after flash flooding. you can see the damage to homes and businesses. cars became stranded, forcing dramatic rescues. some streets remain flooded, but the water rs now much calmer. you can stay on top of the weather where you live with the abc 7 accuweather app. just search accuweather in your app store to download. 6:04 is the time. now to the detwiler fire that destroyed 63 homes near yosemite. cal fire says it was sparked by gunfire. a $2,000 reward is being offer

to find whoever was responsible. the fire started on july 16th and has burned 81,000 acres. it is 97% contained. this morning, the remain of a marine are back home after a tragic accident. a memorial is scheduled today for 23-year-old marine corporal skyler james who died after he was struck by lightning last month in north carolina. it happened while he worked as an aviation mechanic. last night, friends and family gathered to pay tribe. american legion and patriot guard riders were inside the terminal as the marine master sergeant carried the ashes of the 23-year-old pete lieu ma high school graduate. he enlisted in 2014. >> when ever i would talk to him, he was like mom, it's just a mechanic. they told me he excelled at an exceptional rate and the morning

this happened, he was promoted to lead mechanic on the osprey, i don't know the technical words, but he never bragged about it. >> for the four days skyler was there before he was pronounced brain dead, there was a vigil of his marine brothers and sisters that were there constantly. the marines really mean it when they say they're family and they took such good care of robin. >> a motorcade lead by riders and local law enforcement. some will call u him a hero, but a ferry captain insists he just happened to be in the right place at the right time to rescue ten people from a sunken boat. cell phone video shows the damage. it hit a rock here al kai traz. the captain said he got the call and sped to the rescue. >> as we got there, the boat had started taking on enough ater to the point where we got everybody off. they were very happy. everybody was happy and cheered and the it was a great feeling.

>> the passengers were taken to pier 33. thankfully, no injuries to report. a central valley woman is in the hospital after surviving on insects and water from a cow trough for more than two weeks. she crashed her car on july 17th. after the crash, she was nowhere to be found. that until yesterday morning. abc 7 news anchor ana dates has the story. >> a teacher has been found alive weeks after she crashed her car and disappeared. search volunteers found her near a fence less than a mile away from the july 17th crash site. >> i did not wake up this morning thinking that i would find jamie and it's a miracle we tid. volunteers decided to come back

to the original site and look around one last time. that's when search crews spotted something unusual. >> something out of the ordinary. it looked like a set of knees. i'm like, boy, you know, all of a sudden, that's her. so we got out, i wonder if she's alive, then she said, i'm alive. >> the sheriff says she was severely sunburned, dehydrated and malnourished, but didn't want to be rescued. >> we were treating her here, talking about getting her to the hospital and such and she didn't want anything to do with that. she just wanted food and water and let her go. >> she survived by eating insects and drinking water from a nearby cow trough. she was air lifted to the hospital. officials say she had been b struggling wh emotional issues prior to the crash. once released from the hospital, she'll be released to her relatives. teachers aren't the only ones who make an impact. happening today, the diablo is having trainees. you can apply at the district

shots fires call near 15th and beaver then got into a 14-hour stand off with the man. sources say he killed his mother. for now, the suspect is recovering from a self-inflicted gun shot wound. happening today, family members of a man shot and killed by santa clara police are demanding action. back in march, police killed a 24-year-old man after they say he threatened him with a man. family members say he was unarmed and only wearing trunks. family members will share more about their lawsuit today at noon at city hall. extra police officers are out at san francisco's delores park after a triple shooting. the police department tweeted this picture saying mission station officers with working to keep the park safe for everyone.

carnival. they are passing out free backpacks to 16,000 low income children this year. those backpacks are filled with notebooks, paper and pencils. families had to sign up in advance to participate. the santa clara county fire is one of the shortest in the state, just four days, and this is the only weekend to catch it. after some spots caused by the 2008 economic crisis, the fair is on the comeback trail. but as david lui shows us, its future could be determined soon. >> this is a where people still compete for ribbons and to partake of food you may not want to tell your doctor you've eaten and to get acquainted with animals. >> they may be the biggest attraction because you think about how many urban kids never, ever see a farm animal. especially a large one.

disappear. >> i think people have an inner desire to see animals and produce and things that people make. things that bring ties to the land. >> in san jose, david lui, abc 7 news. good morning. live doppler 7 and satellite image, you see these muggy conditions. that moisture is coming in from the south and starting to push east. within the past hour, we've seen thunderstorms off the coast. here in the bay area, a mix of clouds as well. some fog even at the coast, the marine layer is pushing in and making a comeback. temperatures range from the 50s. half moon bay, 57, with limited visibility, then check out how warm it is in some areas like antioch. san jose at 64 right now. but compared to yesterday at this time, quite a bit cooler, anywhere from 5 to 12 degrees

it will start to change, then we're right into the typical summertime pattern, which means fog at the coast, sunshine inland with a wide range of temperatures. let me show you the forecast animation for today. moisture puchs east then the fog move in once again tonight overnight into tomorrow morning. now, highs today will range once again still very warm in the south bay, 83 in san jose. and at the beach, temperatures will be in the 60s, but really comfort bable through men low park and palo alto. 71 degrees. 64 in san matteo and look for cloudy conditions to prevail in the sunset district. 66 there, but sunnier downtown san francisco, almost near 70. upper 80s through santa rosa. even some 90s in cloverdale and lake port and also, t-shirt and shorts weather perfect in the east bay.
