p, you can see the moisture heading towards sacramento. this will bring thunderstorms to the tahoe area. but as that moves east, the marine layer strengthens and so we'll see clouds at the coast pull back by the afternoon. warm and sunny conditions by the afternoon. we'll see low 90s inland. low 80s around the bay and 60s at the coast. should be pretty clear for the most part for sunset. and cooler numbers finally and drier air for tomorrow. chris? >> thank you. this morning, investigators want the know how two murder suspects from chicago ended up here in the bay area. northwestern university professor, wyndham lathem and university of oxford employee andrew warren are accused of killing a 26-year-old man. they have been on the run for more than a week, but u.s. marshals caught both of them last night in oakland. leslie brinkley has more. >> u.s. marshals say 42-year-old

wyndham lathem surroundered before 8:00 andrew warren survey runded around the same time. >> he was taken without incident and turned himself in and we confirmed he was wanted. >> chicago police had been searching for th men since last thursday night. that's when the 26-year-old man was found stabbed to death in lathem's luxury apartment. >> this place is very safe. i've been here 14 years. >> police say the men appeared to have live nd the apartment together. lathem was an associate professor at northwestern university. >> i had him give a talk and he seemed like a normal guy. >> police say he put together a video

fire crew rescued seven people. monsoon rain is being blamed for the flood. heavier rain from the same pm sent a wall of mud and debris streaming through the arizona desert. it crushed a temporary camp site. a chopper crew from a phoenix tv station alerted the campers to the coming flood by flying low and circling the camp. they got out in time and no one was hurt. clean up is underway in los aung county after flash flooding there. you can see the damage to homes and businesses. cars became stranded, forcing dramatic rescues. some streets remain flooded, but the water rs now much calmer. you can stay on top of the weather where you live with the abc 7 accuweather app. just search accuweather in your app store to download. time is 8:04. to the detwiler fire that destroyed 63 homes near yosem e yosemite. cal fire says it was sparked by gunfire. a $2,000 reward is being offer ued to find whoever was

reasonable. the fire started on july 16th and has burned 81,000 acres. containment is at 97%. this morning, the remain of a marine are back home after a tragic accident. a memorial service is schedule ed in petaluma today for 23-year-old marine corporal skyler james. who died after he was struck by lightning last month in north carolina. it happened while he worked as an aviation mechanic. last night, friends and family gathered to pay tribute. american legion and patriot guard riders were inside the terminal as the marine master sergeant care ryued the ashes of the 23-year-old petaluma high school graduate. family members say he enlisted in the marines in 2014. >> when ever i would talk to him, he was like mom, it's just a mechanic. they told me he excelled at an exceptional rate and the morning this happened, he was promoted to lead mechanic on the osprey,

i don't know the technical words, but he never bragged about it. >> for the four days skyler was there before he was pronounced brain dead, there was a vigil of his marine brothers and sisters that were there costantly. the marines really mean it when they say they're family and they took such good care of robin. >> a motorcade lead by riders and local law enforcement headed to the coast guard training center in pet aluma. some might call him a hero, but a ferry captain says he happened to be in the right place at the right time to rescue ten people from a sunken boat. cell phone video shows the damage 31 foot pleasure boat thursday night. it hit a rock and sent out a distress call. the captain said he got the call and sped to the rescue. >> as we got there, the boat had started taking on enough water to the point where we got everybody off. they were very happy.

after we got them on board, everybody was happy and cheered and it was a great feeling. >> the passengers were taken to pier 33. the good news, no injuries to report. a central valley woman is in the hospital after surviving on insects and water from a cow trough for more than two weeks. she crashed her car on july 17th. after the crash, she was nowhere to be found. until yesterday morning. abc 7 news anchor ana dates has the story. >> a teacher has been found alive weeks after she crashed her car and disappeared. search volunteers found her near a fence less than a mile away from the july 17th crash site. >> i did not wake up this mrning thinking that i would find jamie and it's a miracle we did. volunteers decided to come back to the original site and look around one last time. that's when search crews spotted something unusual.

>> something out of the ordinary. it looked like a set of knees. i'm like, boy, you know, all of a sudden, that's her. so we got out, i wonder if she's alive, then she said, i'm alive. >> the sheriff says she was severely sunburned, dehydrated and malnourished, but didn't want to be rescued. >> we were treating her here, talking about getting her to the hospital and such and she didn't want anything to do with that. she just wanted food and water and let her go. >> she survived by eating insects and drinking water from a nearby cow trough. she was air lifted to the hospital. officials say she had been b struggling with emotional issues prior to the crash. she'll be released to relatives after making a recovery. teachers aren't the only ones who make an impact. happening today, the diablo is looking for bus driver trainees,

special education support, classroom assistants and more. you can apply at the district office in concord today between 9:00 and noon. qualified candidates may be hired the same day. new this morning, oakland a's outfielder, matt joyce is accused of using an anti gay slur at last night's game against the angels. our sister network espn reports swrois got into an argument with a fan during the eighth inning. just moments before he hit a grounder, but couldn't make it to first base. a photographer said he walked back to the dugout, shouted several profanities a at a fan and challenged him to a fight. joyce says the fan yelled some vulgar words at him and he retaliated in the heat of the moment. it's unclear if his postgame comment was in response to the confrontation in general or the alleged use of the slur. today, rival high school football teams will come together to support an east bay teenager and his family.

shots fired call near 15th and beaver then got into a 14-hour standoff with the man. sources say he killed his mother. for now, the suspect is recovering from a self-inflicted gun shot wound. happening today, family members of a man shot and killed by police are demanding action. back in march, police killed a 26-year-old man after they say he threatened them with a gun, but family says he was unarmed and only wearing swim trunks at the time. his parents called police because they were concerned for his mental well being. family members will share more details about the lawsuit today at noon at city hall. extra police officers are out at san francisco's delores park after a triple shooting. the police department tweeted this picture saying mission station officers are working to keep tpark safe police are looking to identify at least five in connection with the

weather as well and some moisture off the coast. we have measurable rain on parts of the north bay coast. here's a look over the marine layer. temperatures are on the cooler side compared to 24 hours yesterday at this time, much milder. san francisco, 59. oakland, 62. mountain view, 65. gilroy, 64 and half moon bay, 58 degrees. this time, we're looking mt. tam. partly clear conditions now, and santa rosa, 57 a, so this is more comfortable and not as muggy, but still mild. livermore, 66. this time, we're looking out towards the bay bridge and low clouds and gray sky, but we'll see sunny skies this afternoon. so, we have lingering humidity this morning. but then drier air for the rest of the weekend and then we'll' that typical summertime pattern with fog at the coast, sunshine in the inland areas. here's the animation forecast.

so 9:00 this morning, notice the clouds still continue to wrap around and head east then at the coast, we'll see the moisture push in with the marine layer bringing us cooler numbers there along the beaches, so, in half moon bay, 65 degrees. san francisco, 69 degrees. and in oakland, a comfortable 74. look for a low 80s through the south bay. still warm in the inland areas though hitting the low 90s this afternoon. lot of fun events today. one is at the sonoma county fair and a mild start at 11:00 this morning with those clouds breaking through by the afternoon. sunshine are warm conditions upper 80s then things will cool down with with the return of the marine layer dropping to 58 degrees by 11:00. also for those of you heading to the south bay, the santa clara county fair, a warm start as well hitting the mid-80s. then still pretty mild although cooler at 11:00 p.m. it will be about 70 degrees. overnight lows, much more

"the new york times" is reporting that robert mueller's team has reached out to the white house to request records. david wright has the attorney general's reaction. >> as president trump arrived here with his family for the summer holiday, special counsel bob mueller is pressing on with the russia probe. backed up bay federal grand jury in washington. this morning, "the new york times" reports that investigators for special counsel requested documents from the white house related to former national security adviser michael flynn and questioned whether the turkish government secretly paid flynn for lobbying

equipped with the tools they need the succeed. the salvation army is putting on its back to school carnival. they are passing out free backpacks to 16,000 low income children this year. those backpacks are filled with notebooks, paper and pencils. families had to sign up in advance for the program. in san matteo, the samaritan house the distributing backpacks today. about 900 children will pick up their gear at 10:00 this morning. it's not too late to donate. they need more clothes for kids between the ages of 6 and 17. donations can be dropped off on the third floor of the office on pacific boulevard. and more school supplies are on the way in the south bay, dozens of volunteers will stuff backpacks today in san jose. supplies will be handed out to 3,000 kids next friday. parents previously waited in long lines to register. a study found that the average parent spends more than $600 on school supplies for elementary school student, it goes up to 1,000 for middle schoolers and
