oakland where david deporis lost his life wednesday. >> i'm sad today. >> reporter: friends gathered in berkley to remember the singer/song writer outside a converted school bus named splendor. he toured with fellow musicians in the bus. >> dave was a mystic and he was a spiritual dude and really special. ♪ freedom >> reporter: friends say he loved writing and performing his music. >> he had a degree of magic that he was able to bring into his performances. it was really can't vating. >> reporter: police say david deporis was sitting at this cafe on telegraph avenue when someone grabbed his laptop and jumped into a car. david deporis chased the thief. he grabbed the side of the car and was briefly dragged until he was run over. the suspect got away. neighbors found him gravely injured. >> i don't know him, but he's young. he had his whole life ahead of him. i wish he would have let go but maybe he couldn't. >> property can be replaced but life can't, and in this instance

it was dangerous. >> reporter: neighbors who never knew david deporis are paying respect. >> i didn't know you, but i know your story. >> reporter: friends believe much of david deporis's recorded music was on that stolen laptop. they hope to share other clips of him singing on social media, sharing his talents with the bay area and the world ♪ >> reporter: in oakland, cornell bernard "abc 7 news." new tonight, thieves are targeting up scale homes along an east bay golf course. the contra costa county sheriff's office released pictures of burglars wanted for break-ins last friday. they appeared to enter from the back of the homes, accessing from the golf course itself. federal atf agents just made their largest number arrests for one operation in history right here in the bay area. individual wrote shared with "abc 7 news" shows operation cold day. after a two-year investigation,

law enforcement arrested more than 75 people tuesday and yd in san mateo and san francisco counties. they seized more than 100 ounces of illegal drugs, 90 stolen guns and 48 stolen cars. one neighbor, who shared this cellphone video with us, says he has seen a lot of strange activity next door. >> there's a lot of women going in and out of there, cars, motorcycles, people coming in, you know, on a daily basis. you might see 20 people just show up, go in, and leave. >> the san mateo county d.a. called the operation cold day because of its unprecedented nature because some said it would be a cold day in you know where if it came together. thousands are getting ready to crowd into san francisco's golden gate park this season. the festival frenzy as fans get ready. >> and jimmy kimmel updates us on his son who had to under go emergency heart surgery.

all right. the 10th annual outside lands music festival is set to begin in less than 12 hours at san francisco golden gate park.

"abc 7 news" reporter lisa amin gulezian joins us live from fulton street tonight. lisa. >> reporter: a lot of people were here at the box office behind me until a little while ago. they were excited to pick up their wrist bands and get receipty for outside lands. these music fans came straight from sfo tonight. >> very excited. it is like our favorite festival, so excited to be here. 10-year anniversary especially. >> reporter: out lied lands organizers promise not to disappoint. the music, the art, the food, it is all a major draw. the line-up is attracting festival goers from all over the world. >> metallicic, sadly gorillas but they say at the same time. class animals. >> reporter: the three-day festival requires a lot of planning. it will impact traffic flow, park access. and people.
