tensions escalating this morning, president trump tweeting a new warning for north korea after its threat against guam, saying military solutions are now fully in place, locked and loaded should north korea act unwisely. that tweet following thursday's strong words -- >> let's see what he does with guam. he does something in guam, it will be an event the likes of which nobody has seen before what will happen in north korea. >> reporter: the president firing back after north korea in a statement tuesday called the president senile and his comments on the deepening crises nonsense. >> i don't think they mean that and i think it's the first time they heard it like they heard it, and, frankly, the people that were questioning that statement, was it too tough, maybe it wasn't tough enough. they've been doing this to our country for a long time, many years and it's about time

guam in the crosshairs this morning. 167,000 americans there. along with two major military bases. abc's jim avila is on the ground with more on how they're responding. good morning to you, jim. >> reporter: good morning, paula. a mixed message from the guam government this morning telling residents to enjoy the weekend while reminding them to listen for islandwide sirens in the event of a missile attack. this morning, all eyes turn toward this small island in the middle of the pacific as its neighbor, north korea, four hours away by plane but just 14 minutes by intercontinental ballistic missile. threatens to launch missiles towards guam's shore, a specific threat with a timetable set as early as next week. the u.s. territory of guam home to more than 160,000 american citizens. u.s. naval and air bases and more than 7,000 u.s. troops. overnight the island's leaders urging its citizens to remain calm but posting these drawings on the government website of how

to seal off doors and windows in case of attack. >> we don't want to put fear on the people as well. >> reporter: here on the island a mix of apathy and controlled panic. some seemingly unaffected. >> i think one of the safest places to be is where they're aiming. they don't seem to be too successful. >> reporter: others blaming president trump for upping the rhetoric. >> he's rich, good. he has all the money. he's protected. what about us? what about those who don't have any protection to help them? >> reporter: little but strategy guam is 3800 miles west of honolulu and 2100 miles southeast of pyongyang. the closest american land to north korea and perhaps its most vulnerable. for now most attempt to act like life goes on. the locals still filling the largest kmart in the world where families seem more concerned about school supplies than military hardware falling from the sky. guam is home to american tomahawk missile launching

submarines, ground missile batteries designed to shoot down incoming rockets and the b-1 bomber is based here which at top speeds can reach north korea in 2 1/2 hours. paula. >> residents taking the necessary precaution. jim, thanks for your reporting from guam this morning. we want to bring in retired colonel steve ganyard in washington for us. steve, good morning to you. >> good morning, paula. >> first and foremost the u.s. military believes a north korean missile could reach the waters of guam within 14 minutes so what are our options to diffuse. >> well, the first option to diffuse is diplomacy. but if that fails, the u.s. military has two systems that could knock them down. the first would be a u.s. navy system, the very sophisticated aegis missile system with a new missile that could reach up and knock down any missiles from north korea at any point in its trajectory. on the ground in guam we have the thad missile system which is there to sort of be the last line of defense. it's goalie to prevent any kind of incoming missiles from actually reaching guam.

so thad is there. it's been tested but it's never been tested against four missiles and this is why they have said that they're going to shoot four of these missiles at guam. >> yeah, certainly a test for thad. jim referenced the many concerns people have in guam but the u.s. military, steve, has not raised the threat level in the pacific, so how seriously is the u.s. taking this threat right now? >> paula, they're taking it very seriously. what they're signaling, they think they have the military assets to take care of or knock down any incoming north korean missiles. remember the north koreans said they would submit it for approval in mid-august so we have a little bit of time because they tend to do what they say they'll do. a little bit of time for diplomacy to prevent what could be a very serious aggressive act by north korea. >> steve ganyard, thanks for your insight and analysis. the governor in guam is telling people to go out and live their lives, but understandably difficult. >> it is tough right now. north korea one of the many trump on in those

free-wheeling press appearances yesterday. he also continued his public battle with mitch mcconnell saying it's a disgrace obamacare is still in place and challenging mcconnell to get to work and get it done or else. a lighter tone with russian president vladimir putin. instead of criticizing him for retaliating, he offered sarcastic thanks saying putin's move will cut the payroll and save a lot of money. the president promised to declare the opioid crisis a national emergency. it would increase emergency funding to address this crisis. a whole lot there and cecilia vega on hand for all of it. good morning, cecilia. >> hi, george, good morning to you. this was really something. we haven't seen the president like this since february, his last press conference. this wasn't a full press conference, a limited number of white house press corps was there. but the president took question after question despite his aides calling for a wrap, he kept going. on vacation at his bedminster golf club in his most extensive exchange with reporters in months. >> any questions? yes. >> reporter: president trump taking questions and raising

public criticism of senate majority leader mitch mcconnell. >> i'm very disappointed in mitch. >> reporter: earlier mcconnell fired off a critique of his own. >> the new president hasn't been in this line of work before and i think had excessive expectations. >> reporter: but on the steps of his clubhouse the president kept it going hinting that mcconnell might consider stepping down. >> if he doesn't get repeal and replace done and if he doesn't get taxes done, meaning cuts and reform, and if he doesn't get a very easy one to get done, infrastructure, then you can ask me that question. >> reporter: so let's go back to the russia probe. we learned congressional investigators want to question the president's longtime personal secretary rona graff who has worked at trump tower for nearly 30 years. she is the primary point of contact for anyone looking to get in touch with the president. her name was in that e-mail chain about the trump tower meeting between don jr., others

donald trump is actually on the golf course probably at the turn getting a cheeseburger as he goes to the second 9 telling mitch mcconnell he needs to get back to work. it makes no rational sense. >> he was having security meetings with his whole team as well. he does appear to resist being handled either by the new chief of staff general kelly or his press secretary. one more question and he kept going. >> it's as if he's been caged up and then somebody will let him off and he didn't want to go back. he was free-wheeling. give him credit. he took a lot of questions on a lot of different topics but i don't think it settled anybody down or the world down and i will say one thing, he was honest on one thing, the world has never seen something like this, he's right about that. >> one major piece of policy declaring a national emergency on the opioid crisis. >> many americans -- i had a sister who died from opioid addiction who left three young children behind. it's a scourge of the country right now. fundamentally, they have to decide is it a funding problem where they'll give more to medicaid to solve this problem with treatment, or are they

going to make more law enforcement which i don't think will solve the problem and there seems to be a real debate on that. >> more on that on "this week." also on sunday i'll sit down with an interview with anthony scaramucci, his first after that whirlwind ten days after white house communications director. michael, back to you. you know what, now that an emergency landing overnight, a jetblue flight diverted to buffalo after three crew members got sick on board. eva pilgrim has the story. >> reporter: overnight, a flight diverted and three crew members taken to hospitals. >> we've got an odor reported by the cabin crew in the aft galley. >> reporter: the plane headed from boston to san diego landing in buffalo after reports of fumes an dizziness, a smokey type smell. >> a passenger on board telling a local fume he smelled gasoline describing it as overpowering. medical teams meeting the plane. you can see an ambulance in this photo from twitter. the three crew members transported and treated at a local hospital.

arrived. so what happened here? she apparently hit the gas instead of the brake. went right through that barrier. she did survive her injuries miraculously and the driver of the suv was shaken up. happens every now and then pressing the gas instead of the brake. glad she is okay. we're going to turn now to that dramatic testimony from taylor swift. she took the stand yesterday and held nothing back as she confronted the radio deejay she accuse of sexual assault and clayton sandell is covering it from denver. good morning. >> reporter: hey george, good morning to you. yeah, this really was the main event of taylor swift's trial. taylor swift not only taking the stand, but taking control. this morning, taylor swift dancing to her own tune in a feisty, defiant courtroom showdown. on the stand the superstar repeatedly using salt y language to describe this picture obtained by "tmz". she says it's then radio deejay david mueller grabbing her bare backside backstage at her 2013 denver concert.

it was a very long grab, he said, long enough for me to be completely sure that it was intentional. swift says she thought the alleged grope was a mistake but when she lurched away he didn't let go. >> jurors saw that in their head and that imagerim imagery or vivid language is remembered and it moves people. >> reporter: she was firm with mueller's lawyer saying i'm not going to allow you or your client make me feel like this was my fault because it isn't. she went on to say he did not touch my ribs. he did not touch my arm. he did not touch my hand. he grabbed my bare -- using an expletive. >> it was clear she had been extensively prepared for the kinds of questions thrown at her and she was ready to do it. >> reporter: mueller insists there was never any inappropriate contact. he's suing swift, claiming it was her fault he got fired, ruining his reputation. swift testified what happened to mueller is a product of his decision, not mine. >> she is suing him for $1. he's suing her for $3 million.

she is doing it she has said to draw greater attention to sexual harassment. to sexual assault. >> reporter: when asked if mueller got what he deserved swift said i don't feel anything about mr. mueller. i don't know him. i think what he did was despicable and horrifying and shocking. and of course taylor swift's audience in this case that 8-member jury, and they were paying close attention, taking notes, smiling, sometimes even laughing. paula. >> all right, clayton sandell, thanks for your reporting this morning. want to move to that new bombshell in the penn state hazing case as the fraternity brothers head back to court and new questions about crucial video that may have been deleted and abc's gio benitez is covering the case for us in state college, pennsylvania. hi there, gio. >> reporter: hey there, paula. good morning to you. the prosecutor tells me if that video was deleted intentionally then that means it may show something far worse than they've already seen. the fbi is now trying to retrieve it. this morning, a sea of blue

blazers descending upon this pennsylvania courthouse. 18 former penn state fraternity members facing charges in the february death of 19-year-old beta theta pi pledge tim piazza. >> we have a friend who is unconscious, hasn't moved. probably needs an ambulance. >> reporter: in court thursday, bombshell testimony. the lead detective saying he believes that two days after piazza's death, a frat brother intentionally deleted video from a camera in the basement where piazza laid unconscious after falling head first down the stairs after a night of heavy drinking. prosecutors telling abc news that surveillance device is now in the hands of the fbi. >> revelation is a staggering and stunning development. >> reporter: piazza's parents sitting in court crying as defense attorneys lined up to cross-examine the detective all attempting to diminish the students' roles and questioning the university's responsibility. >> we heard evidence that checkers were there that evening and they didn't find any violation. we have a resident adviser who

molly martens corbett and her irish husband jason seemed to have it all. a happy marriage, a beautiful home and two great children, but she says it was all a facade. one that was totally shattered one weekend when her father visited the house and discovered her husband choking her. it was a shocking verdict. a former fbi agent and his daughter convicted of second degree murder for killing her husband, 39-year-old jason corbett. this morning, both facing 20 to 25 years in prison. >> my son-in-law got in a fight with my daughter. i may have killed him. >> reporter: before the trial i spoke exclusively with molly martens corbett and her father tom about what they say happened in the early hours of august 2nd, 2015. molly says it all began when jason's 8-year-old daughter sarah woke up allegedly sending him into a rage. >> i said she's just 8. she had a nightmare. i should be allowed to go upstairs and comfort our daughter, and he forgot my parents were there.

>> reporter: molly who met jason when she became his au pair says knowing her parents were in the house gave her more courage to stand up to him. >> i don't know what precisely woke me up. but what i heard were loud voices and i -- like thumping. something bad was going on. so i grabbed that little league baseball bat and i ran upstairs. >> were you yelling at him? were you guys screaming at each other? >> no, i wasn't yelling. no, he wanted to shut me up so he covered my mouth and started choking me but at some point when he stopped i screamed and then he started again and the next thing -- the next thing i remember is my dad standing in the doorway. >> what did you see? >> it's awful. he has his hands around her neck and i said, let her go. and he said, i'm going to kill her. and my thought was if he gets into the bathroom, if he gets that door between me and him she's dead and there's nothing i

can do about it. so i reached around and i hit him in the back of the head with the baseball bat. >> reporter: tom says he hit him in the back of the head but it didn't stop jason dragging molly toward the bathroom. >> i'm in the bathroom with him and i hit him again, i mean i have room now and i hit him hard on the back of the head again. >> you hit him hard. >> yeah, i did. he still got her by the throat but he changed his tactics and decides to come back at me. >> jason just grabbed the bat away. it was like it was nothing. he could choke me with one hand and grab the bat with the other and he was just so much stronger and i was screaming don't hurt my dad. don't hurt my dad. and i thought he's going to hit my dad with the bat and that's it. he's going to kill my father. >> so i rush him and i grab the bat with two hands and i hang on with dear life and trying to hit him with bat or my elbow or my

fist or anything else but i'm going to hang onto that bat. and he goes down. >> he went down. >> he went down. >> but prosecutors believe this bloody brick found in the bedroom tells a convincing story. the story of a wife in a murderous rage. in her police interview molly admits she hit her husband with it. >> i hit him on the head. >> you hit him on the head with what? >> with a brick on my nightstand. >> reporter: but in our interview, our lawyers advise her not to address it. >> did you take action and hit jason herself with the paving stone? >> i'm not prepared to talk about that right now. >> in our interview, she explains why that brick was in her bedroom and gives us more details about the alleged abuse she suffered. abuse that the jury did not hear about at the trial. prosecutors do not believe molly and tom's version of the events. they argue that they killed with malice and excessive force and clearly the jury agreed with them. we also spoke with some jurors who told us that they have a theory about what happened that night and it's one the prosecution didn't even suggest. >> wow. and molly didn't testify at the

welcome back, everyo welcome back, everyone. now to that terrifying moment at a britney spears concert in las vegas. a fan rushes the stage as she's performing. her quick thinking dancers and security guards jump into action and abc's diane macedo has all the details for us. good morning to you, diane. >> good morning, paula. this is quite a scare not only for britney but the fans in the audience and the whole thing was caught on camera. this morning we not only have the video but we're also now hearing from the suspect. ♪ >> it was the moment that abruptly stopped the show. >> you guys having fun? >> reporter: britney spears performing her hit song "crazy" in las vegas wednesday night when a man from the crowd suddenly stormed the stage. spears seemed shocked. at one point her knees physically buckle as she's heard asking if the man has a gun and the security team rushes her off the stage. according to police, the stage crasher, 37-year-old jesse webb,

was quickly surrounded, pinned down by spears' back-up dancers before being dragged off stage and arrested for trespassing. the las vegas police department tells abc news webb wasn't armed but he had been asked to leave the concert by security prior to him jumping on the stage. >> they should have had sufficient resources to make sure he did not get on stage as he did. >> reporter: webb is now defending himself on facebook, writing, just to clarify, no one was trying to attack britney. i had no intention to approach her. the news blew this out of proportion. eventually spears returned to the stage and closed out the show. >> chill out. >> reporter: back in march a fan rushed the stage at an ariana grande concert and similar incidents happening to justin bieber, beyonce and adam levine. >> the fans are trying to get as close as possible and security needs to ensure nobody gets on stage and harms the entertainer. >> reporter: now, webb went on

"consumer reports" has pulled its recommendation of microsoft surface laptops and tablets. finding up to 25% may have problems after just two years. eva pilgrim is back with the details. >> reporter: good morning, george. when you buy a fancy new electronic device you expect to be able to use it for a few years. and that's why "consumer reports" says it yanked its

recommendation of two popular microsoft products because its new survey shows the surface laptop and surface book just don't last. ♪ get the surface pro ♪ i like the -- >> reporter: the recommended badge gone. "consumer reports" calling out microsoft devices for breaking too soon. >> we wouldn't recommend that anybody go out and purchase one of these machines right now. >> reporter: microsoft's surface laptop and surface book once on the top of "consumer reports'" list of devices to buy now at the very bottom. "consumer reports" surveyed nearly 91,000 people who bought new laptops and tablets between 2014 and early 2017 finding 25% of people had issues with their surface devices breaking in the first two years. much higher than its competitors. >> it's always great to have a laptop or tablet that is, you know, filled with interesting features and is well designed and performs well but you really need it to last if you can rely upon it. remember, these are machines

that you keep important stuff on your family photos, your tax records. >> reporter: based on the survey's finding "consumer reports" not just pulling its recommendation for the surface devices, now going a step further saying it wouldn't recommend anyone purchase any microsoft laptops or tablets at this time. microsoft is a relative newcomer to the hardware business launching its tablet in 2012. >> this is the first time we've gotten a good look at what the world kind of thinks of microsoft surface overall. because they're so new there hasn't been a lot of research before. >> reporter: some of "consumer reports's" data goes back to 2014 and doesn't reflect any improvements that may have been made to those products since then. >> the timing couldn't be worse for microsoft. we're heading into back-to-school shopping season. >> reporter: the tech company adamantly defending its devices writing on its blog, we stand by the surface. a part of being product makers

is listening to our customers and pushing ourselves to evolve and improve with every generation of devices we create. so the big question, who makes the most reliable laptops and tablets? apple. all those mac users can pat themselves on the back. interesting that's who tops the list. they once were on the list of "consumer reports" problem issues because they had a problem with battery life and they said it doesn't last as long as it claimed. >> they fixed it. >> they fixed it and now they're on the top of the list. >> should i pat you on the back too, apple user? >> if you invented it, you could. >> well, if you win the lottery you could really invest in tech. thanks, eva. great to have you here. a "gma" health alert about c-sections, the most common major surgery in the u.s. but a new study reveals if you've had one you could be at greater risk for surgical complications in the future and dr. jen ashton is here. great to have you. >> good morning? >> we have to break this down. it isn't saying that if you have

a c-section you're more likely to have a hysterectomy. it's saying if you have a hysterectomy you could have complications further down the road. >> c-section, the most common major surgery done in the world and then hysterectomy is also one of the most common done in this country so this study came out of jama surgery, very reputable journal about 7600 women in denmark who have had c-sections and then went on later in life to a hysterectomy for benign reasons, so not cancer. this was the first time you looked at one surgery then the other and connected whether or not there were complications. and, in fact, there were. so what the study found is that women who had one c-section had a 31% increased risk of complications following a hysterectomy they had in the future and if you had two or more c-sections that went up to about 38% increased risk of complications following a hysterectomy. these numbers are a big deal. >> 31% is a huge number. i want you to explain the future risks. what are we talking about?

>> so what this study found in terms of -- what are those complications. increased risk of needing to go back to the operating room sometime in 30 days following a hysterectomy. increased risk of operative surgical time. how long it takes the surgeon to do that operation. increased risk for needing a blood transfusion following hysterectomy and surgical infection. i want to show you why. if you imagine this board as a uterus that has never had a c-section, you have smooth surface of the uterus. >> flawless. >> we like to say pristine. okay. after one c-section, of course, we have to close the uterus, so there can be scar tissue and that can happen after one surgery. it can happen rarely after no surgeries but in general one you would get a scar like that on the uterus. two or more c-sections, the risk of scar tissue internally, agai n every woman but it definitely goes up and we have to remember when you have a baby and you're in your 20s or 30s and then down the road, 10,

20, 30, 40 years we have to go back into that abdomen and deal with those complications and that scarring can really stack the deck for those complications. >> a lot of scar tissue. i've had three kids and one cesarean section. i'm the second picture you just held out. >> probably, yes. >> for those who have had c-sections, one out of every three children are born via cesarian section, what can we do? >> this is a big push in my specialty in ob/gyn trying to lower that rate but we have to remember that c-sections can also save lives both maternal and fetal lives and there are both maternal and fetal reasons we do c-sections. so it's not always in the woman's control whether or not she gets one. but i think the key thing is down the road if you are told you need any type of surgery, especially gyn surgery like a hysterectomy, and you have had a c-section, no smoking, that's one of the worst things you can

background in photography he turns what looks ordinary instagram extraordinary. >> you eat with your eyes first. when the food comes out you look at it and if something looks like junk, it's going to affect the way it tastes. >> reporter: his picks producing big results. new york restaurant union fare crediting him with a major boom in business after he made their birthday cake croissant go viral. >> constantly people coming in requesting things from instagram. >> the perfect food post, the secret? >> take your time. i say never zoom if you want the best image, shoot it and crop inwards. >> what's the biggest mistake people make when photographing their food? >> light. any natural light. you need to pay attention to where the light source is from. >> reporter: we decided to put my insta-skills to the test. the challenge is i'm going to try and make a picture of my food worthy of you. i'm debating what to do with the fruit. i feel like it's too much for the plate. i think it looks happy.

i like it. all right. done. >> done. am i up? >> now it's all you. >> i'll pull these guys out. these are just normal things. i'm going to lean these like this, some crumbs, let's not make it too pretty, not too over the top. >> may the best photograph win. these services can cost thousands of dollars for companies and they're actually paying for them. here's our picture side by side. if you take a look you have my option, the smiley face option. i cheated with the smiley face and dylan's option on option number two. here is the thing, he put that knife and fork in the shot and he put -- you can see it there. there's a little toast sliding out of the shot. this is what he says creates the essence of a human being being there. so we like this. we like it when we feel like -- >> make it personal. >> exactly, make it personal. we like to feel that way. >> i'll bring you up and close and personal to my breakfast.

an epic fail here, i'm sure. let's take a look at this. give me tips. >> oh, my goodness, rob. well, first off i would fold the napkin and instead of putting it underneath the banana, on the side and put that coffee in a personal mug maybe personal to the marciano family. >> and the eoatmeal, that's peanut butter by the way. >> you could put strawberries on top and give it a pop of color but i like the fact your keyboard is in the background. because you're working. and you give the impression you're working. >> it's a working breakfast. when we're not working, instagram, drinks as well. what can you give us -- >> a mocktail. what it would look like if you created it. the thing you have to think about with instagram is pumping it up so more salter sugar on the rim than you would normally put and then when you put the ice cubes in, make sure they're nice and fresh fluffy ice cubes.

and think about the color. when you add it in real life you might muddle it. for instagram, take that and throw it in and make it nice and large and once you pour in all of this, put a little more -- oh wow, thank you. love that live studio audience. make sure you get all the colors and put the straw in. and rather than just taking a picture purely of the drink itself, think about the action shot. get the people involved. the essence of the people. the fact that you made it. here's our final shot. see, that's the people and take lots of pictures. that's the bottom line. >> people are making money off this. how can you do that at home? >> become on influencer, get engagements and talk to business leaders in the community. >> you make it sound so easy. rebecca jarvis. bleachers coming up live in central park. stay with us.
