breaking news. the east bay family of the missing american in spain confirms their loved one died in the barcelona terror attacks. jared tucker's father tells 7 news his son was on his honeymoon when he was killed. the 43-year-old man was walking with his wife when they got separated. abc 7 news reporter is talking with the family. she tweeted this photo just now saying tucker leaves behind three teenage daughters. >> i'm not angry so much as i don't understand it. my wife is in shock. it's a lot of hurt. she just came from surgery two

days ago. she's just having a really hard time. >> jared tucker's dad said she was a great guy with large circle of friends and everybody loved him. he and his wife heidi were married a year ago and this was their delayed honeymoon. the family now planning a memorial service at a mormon church in walnut creek. we'll have more today. police confirmed two people were killed. six others injured in mass stabbing in the city. the suspect has been shot. right now they are searching for possible accomplices. finland is rated the safest city or safest country in the world. it's never had a terror attack and police are not yet calling this a terror attack. they are still gathering automatic faall the facts. oakland police are looking for a gunman who shot two oakland firefighters. one of the two has died. investigators are not saying

whether the two firefighters were the intended victims. it happened at taylor and 8th street where a night market was going on. we have live team coverage. >> reporter: that police investigation continuing now. forecasts have been out to the scene this morning looking for more evidence and witnesses. this wasn't one it was supposed to be like. five off duty oakland firefighters attended an event at gordon beers last night. music, food trucks and what was described as a kid friendly atmosphere. while they were levaving something happened at 9:30 at night between their group and another group of men. that's when two shots were fired. >> got word from one of the vendors that somebody had been shot outside. i was loading m and saw two people laying down flexion to my car. >> reporter: the three uninjured

firefighters rendered aid to their two fallen brothers after this unprovoked attack. >> those two victims were transported to a local area hospital. unfortunately, one of the victims was pronounced deceased at the hospital. the other victim is listed in stable condition. >> reporter: san jose police immediately went looking for the shooter. they started a yard to yard search to the east and south of the crime scene. two people were taken into custody. investigators came back to the scene this morning checking for surveillance video from nearby businesses. >> we have taken witnesses to the police department, investigators have our homicide unit did respond out here to the scene and look for dagsal evidence and additional witnesses. >> reporter: police are not saying if a weapon was found during their search of the neighborhood. matt keller, abc 7 news. >> the oakland fire department is honoring the firefighter who died this morning. abc 7 news reporter amy joins us live from oakland city hall with

that part of the story. >> reporter: the fire command staff is in meetings working on statement to release to the public. out wardly the department is already showing signs of grief and of pulling together. the flag was lowered to half staff to honor the firefighter who was killed. several fire trucks escorted his body at 2:00 this morning on interstate 280 as it was taken to valley medical center. the firefighter was 30 years old. they have not released his name. we also saw a lot of activity at valley medical center. some firefighters were there to visit with the firefighter who survived the shooting. he's a 26-year-old man who is expected to survive. his name also has not been leased. we saw some san jose firefighters stop by. they brought in water bottles for those visiting the hospital to offer their support. these two shooting victims just

the mayor has cancelled a news conference about the future of the city's robert e. lee statue. the mayor said he will put out a statement instead. he says the statue was the focal point. it turned deadly when a driver plowed into a crowd of protesters. 32-year-old heather heyer was killed. her mother said she won't be speaking with president trump. >> i saw an actual clip of him at a press conference equating the protesters like miss heyer with the kkk and the white supremacists. >> her mother said she is dedicating herself to forwarding heather's mission. they will hold an emergency meeting to consider an ordinance to stop planned right wing ral le -- rally. the play your said no one has tried to obtain a permit for it.

the city council meets at 3:00 p p.m. tonight 20/20 will air a report on extremist groups. it's called fakturractured amer. alameda police are investigating the vandalism of a synagog synagogue. these pictures were taken. you can see broken windows have been boarded up. st vandals knew it was a jewish institution because jewish symbols are displayed on the property. police say they are not calling it a hate crime at this time. interstate 680 is back open after this big rig fire shut it down for nearly 12 hours. the chp sig alert was cancelled. it started at 10:00 last night.

we'll see limited cloud cover along the coast but a lot of sunshine away from the coast. really comfortable in those spots the san jose up to 82 degrees. 67 in downtown san francisco. about 95 in lake port. if you're lucky enough to hit the beach today, it will be nice. clouds right now will give way to sunshine. a sea breeze will kick in about 5 to 10 miles an hour. that's the wind coming off the ocean water. 64 bodega bay. overnight tonight a bit of cloud cover. away from the coast you see clear skies. here is the three-day forecast.

eclipse. the bay area family gearing up and heading out on an eclipse adventure. growing concussion problem in girls sports especially soccer and cheer leading. the call to action by some parents. those stories and more coming up at 4:00 and 5:00. a texas family who couldn't afford to buy a bike tr for their little girl got a big surprise when firefighters showed up at their doorstep. >> that's yours. do you want it? >> wow. >> making sure. get on it. >> that's hope. paramedics from a nearby fire station in san antonio sent her this bike. they couldn't come over personally to deliver the gifts because they were out on another call. mom says hope initially met the crew after her daughter fell downstairs. she's okay now but made a big impression on the paramedics. they got her back after they noticed she was the only kid in that complex who didn't have
