from our roof camera. so today, we are looking at numbers in the 50s and 60s throughout the next hour and by noontime, mid-70s inland. still about at the shoreline and 90 towards brentwood. mid-60s at the coast with mostly cloudy skies the there. we'll talk about numbers comein down over the weekend. your eclipse forecast and a look at the week ahead in just a few minutes. >> thank you. developing news in flori one officer is dead and a sergeant in grave condition and this morning, the police chief says there isn't much hope that the sergeant will survive. police say 45-year-old everett glenn miller is charged with with first degree murder. the officers were responding to a call and according to authorities, it seem ed as thouh they were surprised. gentlemen nay norman has the latest. >> overnight, gunfire and bloodshed in central florida. >> regional police alert. >> police arriving at the scene to find two of their own wounded on the ground. officer matthew baxter, a three-year veteran, was shot

dead and another officer, sam howard, gravely injured, now fighting for his life in the hospital. >> we heard shots. >> heard shots. >> after that, just seen the cops just rush over here! the two officers were on the scene veinvestigating a call fo suspicious persons at 927 p.m. last night. just five minutes later, the first call to 911 was made. three summits now in di. a fourth is still on the run. >> were they ambushed? >> it's probably too early, but it's leading that way. >> police across the country, in jackson skril, florida, one officer shot in the hand and another in the stomach. now in critical condition after respond tog a shooting and in western pennsylvania, two state troopers are expected to survive after being shot late friday. >> we're here to protect and serve and you know, this is getting tough. >> is slain officer leaves behind a family.

that tragedy receiving an outpouring of condolences including president trump sending a late night tweet saying my thoughts and prayers are with the ki!police. we love you. >> a school in the east bay is showing their support for a teacher who lost her husband. cornell bernard was at a prayer service last night. >> songs and prayers at the christian school for sixth grade teacher, heidi nunez tucker. this school family got the terrible news heidi's husband, jared was killed during the attack. >> we love heidi. we care tremendously for her, her family.

beach they were going to and stuff. the it was sad. >> former students are praying for their teacher and sending this message. >> we love you, we miss you, can't wait to see you. >> as the school mourns, friends and family are traveling to barcelona to comfort heidi nunez tucker. >> video shows tourists scattering at the van chashlg at pedestrians on thursday. it was one of three attacks that killed a total of 14 people. more than is 00 were injured p for more than 30 countries. four suspects have been arrested. five other suspects who could be linked to those attacks died in a shootout with police. protesters packed the streets yesterday. video shows one man getting punched in the face, his nose dripping with blood. tensions between the far right activists that police are riot gear had to separate the groups

as the violence escalated. here at home, religious leaders in san francisco are denouncing the charlottesville tragedy. they gathered for a special victory just one week before the planned riot. we have more on their stance against white supremacy groups. >> they came from all walks of life to denounce racism and bigotry. >> this is one of the great blessings of san francisco. it is a beautiful diversity of people. >> this group also came to precising and celebrate the multicultural mission neighborhood, but their message was one of inclusiveness and peace with no tolerance for ignorance. >> and all victims of discrimination and violence, we pray, hear us. >> the tragedy many charlottesville motivated their gathering and concerns about a right wing rally set for next weekend at chrissy field. >> i don't know that we can sort of sit by and watch what's going on on a national level and feel

like we're safe in this small pace in this time. we all need to be involved in some way. >> good to see folks in the bay area who like are upset. and fired up and want to do something because i know people in other cities are having different experiences. >> ashley and ronald clark felt compelled to stand and walk with other san franciscoans. our city has dealt with a lot of dimpt things, so we can deal with this. >> community members and clergy vow to stand together against violence and hatred. >> anybody can come to our city. we're here, this is our home. >> in san francisco, abc 7 news. berkeley's city manager will have the authority to ban weapons from the streets for one day only. abc 7 news was at city council as they passed the ordnance for a week from this sunday.

that's when another rally for the riot and a counterprotest are planned. city leerds fear a repeat of the violent protests last spring. the mayor's office is working to organize alternative events. a man considered a hero by the so-called alt-right faces years in prison for his at a berkeley protest. now, he's speaking out against prosecutors. kyle chapman faces a felony weapons charge. on wednesday, the da said if convicted, he would see seven to eight years in prison because of previous felony robbery and grand theft convictions. he became known as base stick man after investigators said he attacked with a stick during a march 4th rally. chapman said the charges are an attempt stop them from speaking at a rally in boston. he posted on social media to the mee da county da, i'm ready to

go to jail for this movement. i'm ready to do a lot more than that. expletive, your trumped up charges. i'm speaking in boston, catch me if you can, punk. the da has not issued a response. police have busted an unlicensed senior care center in san francisco. abc 7 was on stanion street where officers found seven patients staying inside a single home. seven were in bad shape and had to go to the hospital. police took one in for questioning for possible elderly abuse. can police arrested the man they say shot two off duty firefighters, killing one of them. oliver juino is in custody this morning. police are hoping interviews with the suspect and video will help them determine a motive. katie utehs spoke with the oakland firefighters union, which says the shooting was unprovoked. >> a somber scene as firefighters lined interstate 880 to pay tribute to one of their open. killed not while battling a fire. instead, shot to death while out with friends. jake walters' body was escorted by chp and his family to oakland

encounters you might have off duty that could also lead to a similar outcome. >> police say there are no other outstanding suspects, extra resources are being brought in for firefighters in distress. in san jose, katie utehs, abc 7 news. a group trying to recall a judge is is taking action after a visiting judge blocked its petition. according to our media partner, yesterday, the recall campaign moved to disqualify a retired orange county judge from deciding on the issue. the judge granted the request to block the group from gathering signatures. the campaign needs more than 58,000 signatures by january to put his recall on the ballot next june. those against the recall say it threatens judicial independence. he first made headlines when he gave a stanford athlete what many considered to be a light sentence for sexual assault. turning to weather now and the bay area forecast and lisa, you've been seeing a lot of fog.

a raging two alarm fire winery interrupted a couple's wedding celebration. you're looking at viewer video. you can see smoke billow frg main building there. these pictures were posted of the bride and groom who had to race out of reception. the cake was also saved. no one was hurt and the party went on at the nearby casa bella events center. crews are making progress on a stubborn fire burning on the southwestern perimeter of yosemite national park. it's fwroeing slowly, but after sx day, it's still only 10%

contained. crews are using air an ground resources to protect the community and the mare poe sa grove of xwhigiant se quoi area. people who are sensitive to smoke with being told to stay in or leave the area during periods of heavy smoke. voluntary evacuation is still in place. authorities in santa cruz county are reviewing video in hopes of finding a person who cut off a white shark's dorsal fin. the shark washed ashore at a beach in live oak with severe cuts to its head possibly from a boat propeller, but before officials could it to the lab for identification, someone cut off the fin and removed the animal's teeth. >> it's a dead animal, leave it alone. if anything, leave it to science. >> fins can fetch up to thousands of dollars on the black market. a neck ropsy is scheduled for next week. for most people who see the total solar eclipse on monday,

day. afternoon, partly cloudy skies and from our east bay hills camera, you can see on the edge here, a few folks in our inland valleys. 56, santa rosa, 61, novato. 30 miles an hour. now at b about to miles an hour, perhaps maybe a 90 degree reading out that way, but overall, temperatures just around average. low 60s now in liver mother. so with a little clearing today, we'll make it to the low 70s in santa cruz, but you can see the fog here down to san luis this morning. we're looking at the dense fog in some spots. mist and drizzle that's beginning to lift. mild to warm days on the weekend and we're looking at partly cloudy cooler conditions overall as we get through most of next week, but there will be subtle changes. here's your hour by hour forecast as you notice the fog trying to pull back temporarily, but if from stinson, sonoma county down peskadera,

temperatures still just in the low to mid-60s in stinson to half moon bay to ocean beach. if you get sun, pretty lucky here because most of the clearing happens around santa cruz. let's talk about the eclipse. couple of days away. 9:01 it begins on monday. maximum eclipse at 10:15 then ends at 11:37, so how is the weather going to be? we're going to have a good view here if we get the clearing, totality from porltland slice ing across the country to south carolina. in the bay area, 75% of the sun will be covered by the moon. so, here is the early outlook for the cloud cover on monday morning, you'll notice we have the clouds, there's going to be a system off the coast that could work in our favor to pull the fog back, but it's going to be really close here along the shoreline. a better bet head inland if you live around the coast, especially southern marin, looks ify there.

this is from walnut creek this morning where you are looking at the fog in the distance, but you have the sun. it's 59 in san francisco. 85 half moon bay with low to mid-60s with sunshine for you in san jose. even though this is 101, not the prettiest of p picture, it's sunny there and temperatures are in the mid-50s in santa rosa with a gray sky. concord is at 63 and low 60s in novato, so for mt. tam above the marine layer, yes, we'll have the sunshine here, but it's going work its way to the shoreline with 60s and 70s by noontime. 60s will stay at the coast with limited sun near 90 by the delta and we're looking at nice evening and the changes, they're going to be suting for the week ahead, but we'll have them for eclipse monday. >> thank you. developing news this morning. duke university is the latest institution to remove a confederate symbol. the university president says a statue of robert e. lee was taken down from the university's chapel today.

but it will be preserved for students to study the university's past. the statue was vandalized several days ago. in an e-mail sent to the duke community, the president says he decideded to remove the statue quote, to protect duke chapel, to ensure the vital safety of students and community members who worship there and above all, to express the dope aeep values the university. thousands of people are rallies. right wing activists are hosting a free speech rally while counterprotesters are taking a stand against racism and white supremacy. here's a live look at the scene. there's a heavy police perez innocenens in the city. organizers of the free speech rally said on facebook they're not affiliated with alt-right or white supremacist groups. organizers told the boston globe they expect up to 30,000 people to join their march.

thanks, s. the top democrat in congress wants to see president trump fire more of his top staff following the departure of steve bannon. nancy pelosi said bannon's resignation is quote welcome news. the san francisco congresswoman also said that bannon's quitting quote doesn't disguise where president trump himself stands with white supremacists. pelosi's statement also followed the president's remarks about last weekend's violence in virginia. another california lawmaker is bringing up the 25th amendment, which allows for the removal of a president who is unable or unfit to do the job. representative lufgren introduced a resolution asking that the president be examined by medical and psychiatric professionals. jackie spear on tuesday tweeted it was time to envolk the 25th amendment. in the history of america, it has never been used. former governor arnold schwarzenegger is denouncing president trump's claim that the

bigotry and violence in charlottesville was on quote many sides. >> the two sides to hatred, if you choose to march with the flag to symbolizes the slaughter of millions of people, there are not two sides to that. >> in this video, schwarzenegger says the president has a moral responsibility to stop racism. the former governor also backed up the counterprotesters at the charlottesville rally. he says the only way to beat loud voices of hate is to meet them with louder voices of reason. time now is 8:36. two murder suspects who were found in the bay area are back in chicago this morning. chicago police are questioning former northwestern university professor wyndham lay tham and andrew warren. they're accused of stabbing a mab to death in a chicago high-rise last month. the suspects surrendered to police two weeks ago. u.s. marshals caught lathem in oakland. warren in san francisco.

in front of our crowd. kind of excited about that opportunity to kick that off. >> yep. football is is back. enjoy, everybody. have a great weekend . it's kind of beginning to feel like football weather. we have plenty of summer to enjoy though. as we get into september and october, it has been a cool august and yes, this is not mt. tam. it's our east bay hills camera. the low cloud deck has expanned to about 2,000 feet and as a result, morning temperatures are cool and we are looking at not only numbers in the 50s, but where we have sunshine, the numbers are climbing into the 60s. not a bad morning, but when are we going to see the sun? pretty much everywhere excement in our immediate shoreline, so 61 in novato. cool up in the north bay. 56 in santa rosa with 62 in livermore. so, we are looking at that steady onshore flow. which will allow for those winds

to kick up to over 20 miles an hour at times, so we got that going for us. with visibility in livermore, it's some dense fog as head along coast, but where isn't the fog? all the way down the coast into southern california. so, it's one of those patterns where we have a system to the north of in response of that. we're getting the generous low cloud deck. here's santa cruz, where we will see some afternoon sun. partly cloudy there. so with some mist and drizzle on coast, you needed your wipers from time to time. build to warm days this weekend and of course, that's inland. you'll see the changes mainly inland. not much at the shoreline or around the bay. and looking at partly cloudy conditions for the solar eclipse with the cooler day. so here's tomorrow. and now notice we'll have perhaps a little bit of that orange, some warmth heading towards our east bay and that could allow for temperatures to come up to the upper 80s, but overall, the pattern will be to come down a few more degrees

into monday for mid-80s. this is really below average and then as we get into tuesday, looks like numbers aren't changing really all that much. so, we're going to still see the fog and low clouds from our coast and the temperatures pretty average. 89 in morgan hill. you'll have the breeze. 76 in men low park. 77 in redwood city and fog encroaching here on the peninsu peninsula, so you'll notice the gray skies. 64 in north bay. it's nice. could be really hot this time of year. 83 santa rosa and on the east bay, look for the uper 70s for you in fremont, 76. we'll have 76 in san ramon, so looks like a pretty nice afternoon for our inland valleys. tonight, the fog is back. a nice, cool evening with 50s
