remember he called on the whole country to come together in unity but last night he was angry, he was raw. he was divisive and deceptive and lashed out at the media and he went back at charlottesville saying his words were, quote, perfect, but he left out the comments that drew so much fire. president trump also threatened to shut down the government if congress doesn't pay for a border wall. this is a wall he promised mexico would pay for, and outside the rally thousands of protesters clashed with trump supporters and police. our senior white house correspondent cecilia vega was in the room and starts us off from phoenix. good morning, cecilia. >> reporter: george, good morning to you. an hour and 15 minutes plus, that is how long the president went on for here. a full assault on the media for the backlash he faced over charlottesville. president trump went to phoenix overnight using the opportunity to defend his response to charlottesville. >> as i said everything, i hit them with neo-nazi, i hit them with everything. i got the white supremacists, the neo-nazi. i got them all in there. let's see. kkk, we have kkk. i got them all.

>> reporter: he made a full rebuttal of the controversy over his comments. >> now i say we have to heal our wounds and the wounds of our country. i love the people of our country. the people. all of the people. >> reporter: reading portions of his various responses, one by one. >> the first one, i did this three times. we have to come together as americans with love for the nation. so, in my second statement i got really specific and they said, why didn't he do it faster. >> reporter: except in his retelling the president never mentions his most controversial comments. >> we condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence on many sides. >> reporter: also never mentioning how many times he reiterated it. >> and you had some very bad people in that group. but you also had people that were very fine people on both sides. >> reporter: he rallied his base by riling them up.

taking dead aim at the media for the fallout over one of his worst weeks as president so far. >> they make up stories. they have no sources in many cases. they say a source says. there is no such thing. but they don't report the facts. >> reporter: and hinting that there is a pardon to come for arizona's controversial sheriff joe arpaio. >> but you know what, i'll make a prediction. i think he's going to be just fine, okay. but i won't do it tonight. because i don't want to cause any controversy, is that okay? >> reporter: a campaign rally. >> they're trying to take away our culture. they're trying to take away our history and our weak leaders, they do it overnight. >> reporter: looking ahead to a re-election by a president just eight months on the job. >> we are fully and totally committed to fighting for our agenda and we will not stop until the job is done.

>> reporter: and the president's re-election campaign says there were 15,000 people here in phoenix to see him. he told that crowd, george, that he will get that border wall built even if it means the government has to shut down to pay for it. >> yeah, that was quite a threat. cecilia, you were in the room. 15,000 people there as well. the press is in full view as the president spends about 20 minutes or so at least attacking the media. just give us a sense of what happens, what that feels like when those attacks come. >> reporter: yeah, george, this was incitement plain and simple. i turned my cell phone camera on the crowd there so you could see what it looks like when the president turned the crowd -- turns the crowd on you. the president said journalists don't like this country. this one felt different.

i got the tell you, george, a matter of time before someone gets hurt. >> it is just shocking that this is happening with an occupant in the white house. we'll talk about that more with matt dowd. but more on the streets of phoenix, amy. that's right, so many demonstrations for and against president trump so let's go to our chief national correspondent tom llamas there in the middle of all that chaos. good morning to you, tom. >> reporter: amy, good morning both sides showed up with massive crowds, but the phoenix police department was ready. it was loud, it was hot and it was mostly peaceful but that all changed right at the end. we were right there as police in riot gear advanced on demonstrators outside of president trump's phoenix rally. with moments of brief tension when protesters refused to leave the downtown area -- [ chanting ] >> reporter: -- officers wearing gas masks and armed with shields fired off tear gas. when demonstrators threw bottles and other projectiles, police used pepper spray to stop the assaults.

you can see the phoenix police department, they're marching through downtown phoenix and they put tear gas in the air. they're also macing some people. earlier, police were able to keep the peace as several thousand demonstrators showed up surrounding the convention center where president trump held his rally. [ chanting ] phoenix police kept both sides separated but it didn't stop protesters from heckling trump supporters as they entered the rally. >> i'm really godsmacked the way that man has been acting in office. it's been nothing but total disorder. >> reporter: but the president's strong support here showed in the lines that wrapped around the convention center. many waiting 10 to 12 hours to hear the president speak. >> he is right about everything. we just need to support him as a country. >> reporter: most of the injuries last night were heat

related. only a small number of arrests. the phoenix police department deserves a lot of credit, because the tension was so high last night and things could have been much worse. george. >> tom, thanks very much. let's bring in matthew dowd and running out of the times we've never seen anything like this before from someone in the white house, from the president of the united states and such a difference from just 24 hours before. >> yeah, it's amazing, george. i was reflecting on this last night and this morning. at a time in america where we're thirsty for healing and unity, donald trump arrived in the desert of arizona with an overheated rhetoric and damaging divisions in this. it does nothing to help heal the country at this point in time. he's presiding over this and he's only adding to this, only stoking the fires more and more. that last night was a perfect example of how on the mondays we see a mirage and on tuesdays we see the true donald trump and what we saw last night i have to say was the real donald trump. >> we learned last night that

the president watches "gma" and he took off on me last night as well in part of his media rant but the thing is, this is not just impulse, this is strategy by the president. he is trying to turn accurate reporting into attacks on him and using that to bind him more closely to his political base. >> yeah, i notice he reused the attack on senator marco rubio so you're in good company, george, in the midst of this. this does nothing to help. what it seems like is that his greatest enemy is the truth. he's mad when somebody tells the truth and it was pointed out earlier in this segment as he read what he said he said and of course he left out the main thing which caused all the problem which was many sides, both sides in the midst of this but donald trump seems to have -- he loves the second amendment but he seems to have a real problem with the first amendment. >> and perhaps the most consequential attacks on republican senators, republican leaders in the senate, you know,

did not wish john mccain well in his cancer fight even though he was in his home state. this could cause him huge problems as they face a big legislative agenda in the fall. >> i think this is probably the most damaging thing for him personally or for what he wants to do politically in this. john mccain is fighting brain cancer at this time. he's a war hero. he's beloved by every other senator in the united states senate and he attacked him. didn't use his name but he attacked him and jeff flake in this. all of donald trump's basket is sitting in their hands and all he's doing is making it harder and harder and harder for him to accomplish anything in this congress. >> yeah, he is really alienated senate majority leader mitch mcconnell. matthew dowd, thanks very much. now, we turn to those severe storms stretching from texas to maine sparking water rescues. out west wildfires forcing evacuations and ginger has been tracking all of the developments. good morning, ginger. >> good morning to you, amy. that was a long line of storms so a lot of areas to talk about. the storms blowing through new york city here. you can see the freedom tower

getting hit by lightning and then mexico, new york, that huge tree on top of the suv. it did this for such a large region including the heavy rain in oklahoma. water rescues in the midwest overnight. downpours trapping dozens of drivers, emergency crews racing after more than two inches of rain fell in oklahoma county in just 30 minutes. at least 157 severe storm reports. destruction from kentucky to pennsylvania. winds to 60 miles per hour ripping trees up by their roots. branches impaling windshields. taking out power lines in pittsburgh. in washington state the scatter creek fire forcing emergency evacuations tuesday night. >> real tragedy. >> reporter: 100 families forced to abandon their homes destroying seven structures including four houses. crews containing the fire early this morning. that cold front is mostly done

with its work there but we've got to the tropics. two areas, one around florida. this one made its way off the yucatan is the remnants of harvey. if you remember hearing about it, it's going to try to redevelop in the gulf and looks like friday night through saturday, corpus christi up to houston, the spaghetti computer plots take it right into you and it looks like no matter what type of event it's going to be heavy, heavy rain, up to 10 inches. >> real rough weekend there. thanks very much. now to new fallout from that crash of the navy destroyer, the "uss mccain." the commander of the seventh fleet was removed from the post because this was his fourth accident under his command this year and bob woodruff brings us the story from singapore. >> reporter: that's right. the u.s. navy moved quickly to remove the admiral in charge after a string of accidents including the loss of lives. admiral joseph aucoin was told that the navy had lost confidence in his leadership despite his plan to retire next

month naval tradition requires them to show account bltd for four mishaps including the loss of life on the "uss john s. mccain" and "uss fitzgerald." as for possible cause officials say the "uss mccain" reported a loss of steering for three minutes prior to it being struck be the liberian tanker ship, but officials caution it is not certain this led to the accident as there still would have been several evasive actions that could have been taken to avoid collision. the "john s. mccain" remains docked at a singapore naval base where search and rescue teams continue to scour the ship for possible survivors. some were recovered from sealed compartments where the ship was hit. the malaysian navy also recovered a body at sea. the american commanders insisting that operations would continue until all hope of finding survivors had been exhausted. now, the navy officials now say they will widen the search for the missing sailors out there at sea. they have already found some bodies inside the ship.

clearly, they believe others may have fallen out after the collision. george. >> so tragic. okay, bob, thanks very much. we turn now to the backlash growing over this photo. take a look. treasury secretary steve mnuchin's wife now apologizing for how she responded to criticism for posting a photo tagging the luxury clothing brands she was wearing in front of a government plane. abc's mary bruce has that story. >> reporter: this morning, former actress louise linton says she is sorry after this instagram post. windswept and carrying a luxury handbag linton described her head to toe duds writing tom ford sunnies, hermes scarf, valentino. while celebrity reports on social media aren't unusual, what is, that's a military plane and linton had just returned from an official trip to kentucky with her husband. treasury secretary steve mnuchin. the post sparked a backlash as fierce as linton's fashion.

glad we could pay for your little getaway. #deplorable wrote jenni miller. >> to then be tagging everything she was wearing with all these expensive european designer names just seemed ridiculous. >> reporter: linton fought back writing, i'm pretty sure we paid more taxes toward our day trip than you did. pretty sure the amount we sacrifice per year is a lot more than you'd be willing to sacrifice if the choice was yours. adding, you're adorably out of touch. linton is new to politics. leaving behind a career in movies like "cabin fever" and appearances on "csi" when her husband was sworn as cabinet secretary in earlier this year. this morning, linton has apologized for both her post and her response saying, it was inappropriate and highly insensitive. now, the treasury department has also issued a statement.

gathered outside. and big nba news. kyrie irving was traded to the celtics. isaiah thomas is coming to the cavs and lebron james sent off his boston-bound teammate with this tweet, nothing but respect and what a ride it was our three years together. they'll face off right a way in the season opener. now, we move on to the latest celebrity photo hack. tiger woods and lindsey vonn threatening legal action against a site that published nude photos of the former couple along with other stars and abc's linsey davis has those details. >> reporter: good morning, amy. explosive and embarrassing this latest photo scandal has lawyers for multiple celebrities threatening take the pictures down or else. lindsey vonn's spokesperson said the olympic gold medalist will take all necessary and appropriate legal action to protect and enforce her rights and interests. >> the race down the hill. >> reporter: olympic skier lindsey vonn is contemplating legal action after nude photos of her and ex-boyfriend tiger woods were posted online. the couple who broke up in 2015 reportedly shared intimate

photos and videos while they were dating. vonn's phone was reportedly hacked. her pictures leaked and posted for all to see on a gossip website that features nude photos and videos of celebrities, including "twilight" star kristen stewart and actress katharine mcphee. a representative for vonn told abc news it is an outrageous and despicable invasion of privacy for anyone to steal and illegal ly publish private intimate photos adding, websites that encourage this should be prosecuted to the fullest extent under the law. attorneys for woods and vonn have told the site to act expeditiously to remove and permanently disable access to the photos but the website's operator denies they stole them directly from the celebs, telling abc news they will not remove them saying, we got the pictures from different message boards around the internet. we did not hack them. >> the website that is sharing

photographs without the consent of the individual also subjects itself to liability. >> reporter: hackers frequently target female celebrities. miley cyrus, emma watson and jennifer lawrence have all had private images exposed on the internet. the 29-year-old who hacked lawrence was sentenced to nine months in prison. "the hunger games" star called the experience terrifying telling "vogue," it's scary when you feel the whole world judges you adding, i think people saw the hacking for what it was, which was a sex crime, but that feeling, i haven't been able to get rid of it. for those who are hellbent on sending these pictures there is an app for that called remookie and it's regarded as the prenup for it and it safeguards them by encrypting them on your phone and you can set expiration dates, a little news you can use and according to a recent survey, about 50% of americans could use this app. >> oh, my goodness. well, that is a lot of news i didn't necessarily need to know

but thank you, linsey. all right, for more we'll bring in legal analyst dan abrams and media expert larry hackett. so, larry, we see all the names, the list. this is a big problem. among celebrities now. >> it is a huge problem among celebrities. people, as long as there is an internet people will want to see them with pictures like this and they are human beings. the thing about celebs they like to be famous most of the time but in those most intimate moments which we all share they forget they're celebrities and end up with these things in their telephone and whether it's hollywood celebs or the dnc, people know how to hack phones and it's going to get worse until people stop having them on their phone. >> that's probably the biggest tip of all. >> absolutely. >> why do you need to take them? the website, which is pretty interesting is doubling down refusing to take down these specific photos, so how good of a case do tiger woods and lindsey vonn have with this? >> criminal from civil.

when it comes to criminal charges that would be the person who hacked the phones. no question that person could be charged criminally. when you're the media entity who is distributing it you're talking about a civil. how do you get them to take it down, are there money damages? two basic claims. number one, it would be copyright meaning apparently tiger woods took this photo so if he took the photo, he owns the copyright and as a result, he could say as the copyright owner you better take this down because this picture belongs to me. the second way they could go about it is by saying it's an invasion of privacy. remember, the gawker/hulk hogan lawsuit, a similar type of claim happened there. the problem is that you have to have someone on the other side who cares about potentially losing an enormous judgment. so far it seems that the website doesn't really particularly care because there's no question that the copyright case is a very strong one and that the invasion of privacy one, probably the strong one but you need someone on the other side who cares. >> they don't care. as we're all noticing. we're not naming this website and this person who runs this website knows that.

what he is holding out for is that people start naming this website. if he gets sued, we'll eventually have to name the website. he wants attention. and then he knows the next time he has photographs someone -- >> he gets hits. >> there is a trick they'll do. sometimes they'll say they won't respond and then two or three days later they'll agree to take down the photos. why, because they've gotten all the traffic in those two or three days and everyone has already seen it. >> it's worth it for them. >> he doesn't care right now. he's holding out as long as possible to get as much attention as possible. >> all right, what can celebrities do other than not take the photos to begin with? >> well, either encrypt them. make sure they're deleted to anything related -- it's really hard. i'm stopping myself because -- exactly. no, it's a really tough spot that they're in in terms of, look, if you're a celebrity and you're taking nude photos, there's a risk. that's it. i don't know how else to say it. >> not only that, these are

latest now on colin kaepernick. the nfl free agent who stirred up controversy when he went down on one knee during the national anthem still hasn't been signed by a team and there are rallies to support his stand. ryan smith here with the story. >> good morning, george. you know, you talk about this but less than two weeks before the nfl regular season kicks off protesters are going to gather at the nfl's doorstep rallying for colin kaepernick, the former star quarterback, some believe has been sidelined for his beliefs. >> will kaepernick show some poise in the pocket? >> reporter: this morning, the quarterback who led the san francisco 49ers to a super bowl four years ago can't find an nfl team. 19 teams across the country have signed new quarterbacks in the off-season. many pointing to colin kaepernick's refusal to stand for the national anthem last year and his vocal stance against racial injustice as the primary reasons he is unemployed. >> a lot of good, positive things that you can look at and

say this is a guy at the least deserves an invite to a camp to see if he has anything yet. ♪ >> reporter: the quarterback speaking out about his stance last october. >> it was something that was really just a personal decision where, you know, i didn't agree with what was going on. >> reporter: and already this preseason several players following suit, including these 12 cleveland browns players, black and white, kneeling for a prayer during the national anthem on monday. >> making the catch is seth devalve. >> reporter: tight end seth devalve the first white player to take a knee says he thought of his family. >> i myself will be raising children that don't look like me. i want to do my part as well to raise them in a better environment than we have right now. >> reporter: back in june, commissioner roger goodell shooting down claims that kaepernick is being blackballed by the league. >> obviously, you know, everyone's aware of the fact of his protests last year and that's something that individual clubs will need to either weigh

or not weigh. >> reporter: later today at the league's new york city headquarters, there will be a gathering to support the quarterback. now, the protest today put together by over two dozen activists and organizations here and among kaepernick's backers spike lee who tweeted his support earlier this month for, quote, kaepernick and his stance on the injustices in the usa. >> george. >> he does have a lot of supporters but it's not a slam dunk he would get picked up as a free agent even if this weren't around. >> you talk about quarterbacks and a lot is fit so teams put a variety of things into it. to put it in perspective, there are two guys have been signed this off-season who didn't throw an nfl snap. didn't take a snap, didn't throw a pass, so kaepernick had a pretty solid year. i think if he's not signed this preseason it might take an injury or something like that to a quarterback on a big team for him to get a position. we'll have to wait and see. >> we will be watching. thanks very much. coming up next here on our big board, powerball fever heats

good morning, cecilia. >> reporter: george, good morning to you. this wasn't just defiance, this was an all-out assault. he is blaming the media for the fallout he faced after his comments on charlottesville. 15,000 supporters here and the president reread many of the responses he made following that violence in virginia. >> the first one -- i did this three times. we have to come together as americans with love for the nation. so in my second statement i got really specific and they said, why didn't he do it faster? they said everything. i hit them with neo-nazi. i hit them with everything. i got the white supremacists, the neo-nazi, i got them all in there. let's see. yeah, kkk. we have kkk. i got them all. >> reporter: but he did not repeat perhaps the most controversial comment of all when he said there were fine people on both sides. he did suggest that there is a pardon to come for arizona's controversial former sheriff joe arpaio who was convicted of ignoring a court order to stop

traffic patrols targeting suspected undocumented immigrants. after the rally here police in riot gear fired tear gas to disperse the protesters who they say threw rocks and bottles. there were at least three arrests. and george, two other headlines on that border wall, the president said it will be built even if the government has to shut down to pay for it. and on north korea's kim jong-un the president said, quote, i respect the fact that i believe he is starting to respect us. i respect that fact very much, george. >> okay, cecilia, thanks very much. a lot of headlines there. you have some more. that's right. major new fallout from that disaster at sea involving a u.s. warship. the navy has now dismissed the commander of the seventh fleet, this all comes after the "uss john s. mccain" collided with an oil tanker. it was the fourth incident this year. remains of some of the ten missing sailors have been found in the ship. and there are new images this morning of north korean leader kim jong-un inspecting what appears to be new missiles.

the pictures from state media show him at a plant that makes solid fuel engines. secretary of state rex tillerson has praised north korea for showing restraint. espn broadcaster robert lee has been reassigned from covering the upcoming football game at the university of virginia in the wake of the violence there in charlottesville. espn says that decision was made as the events in charlottesville were unfolding because of the coincidence of lee's name. the network called it, quote, a shame that this is even a topic of conversation. we have a health alert now about vitamin b. in a new study that warns men who take high doses of it could be at higher risk of lung cancer. researchers found the cancer risk after long-term use was two to four times higher than in nonusers. and one of the state's hardest hit by the opioid crisis may be now taking new action. mayors in ohio are calling on the governor to establish an emergency operation center. abc's pierre thomas will take a closer look at that crisis on a special edition of "nightline"

we begin with george and amal clooney pushing back against intolerance. the pair have donated a million dollars to the southern poverty law center. [ applause ] i really love that. the organization combats hate groups and in the aftermath of the charlottesville violence the clooneys released a joint statement saying we are proud to support the southern poverty law center in its efforts to prevent violent extremism in the united states. we thank you, clooneys. enough said. nothing more to say. wanted to share that with you. also, finally, everybody had to start somewhere including the one and only jerry seinfeld. we can get a glimpse of his humble beginnings as a comic in a new stand-up special due out september 19th on netflix. the hour-long stand-up routine called "jerry before seinfeld" will feature bits that put him on the map along with previously unreleased material like handwritten jokes he has saved since the '70s. >> wow.

"nightline's" juju chang has that story.

>> chrissy. >> reporter: this morning, supermodel, tv personality and doting mom chrissy teigen says she's never felt more alive experiencing a reset on her health. the 31-year-old told "cosmopolitan" magazine she decided to cut down on her drinking after attending a wellness retreat in bali with family earlier this month. i was point blank just drinking too much. the supermodel told the magazine, nobody really brought it up to me, she said, adding that she can't just have one drink. she told "cosmo" she abstained from it on her bali trip and it was really, really wonderful. i would wake up feeling amazing. my skin felt amazing. i was just so happy. during her trip she even posted this photo with husband john legend with the caption, my body and mind have never felt so clear. >> it's exceedingly important that adults buy into the idea that they have to be flexible and willing to make changes as they move along in life. it's okay to step out of certain

elements of your life if that is really reinforcing something for you that's bad behavior. >> reporter: wildly popular on social media, the former spokeswoman for vodka brands has even shared moments post-partying with her fans. >> we're having ramen. >> reporter: but teigen tells the magazine, with plans of expanding her family on the horizon her days of drinking are winding down. i used to think it was kind of nutty to have to go totally sober, she said, but now i get it. i don't want to be that person. i have to fix myself. for "good morning america," juju chang, abc news, new york. >> our thanks to juju for that. and our senior medical contributor dr. jen ashton is here. a lot of people struggle with this. how much is too much generally speaking? >> in medical school we have what's called a cage questionnaire and this is how doctors are trained. it's a screening tool for alcohol abuse or substance abuse.

take a look at the letters. c.a.g.e. these questions -- have you ever tried to cut down on your drinking? has anyone ever annoyed you about the amount you drink? "g" is, do you feel guilty about your drinking and, "e," do you ever need an eye-opener? you get zero points for no. 1 for every yes. a score of two or more is considered clinically significant indicating there may be a problem for the high end of use. i also see in my practice kind of more subtle signs. not official but could be pink flags. is your weight increasing because of the amount of alcohol you're consuming. is your drinking interfering with your work life or your social life? and are you getting into trouble because of this on social media or even with the law. those can be some pretty significant signs. >> and medically speaking, what does alcohol do to your body? >> we know it is possible to consume alcohol in moderate amounts safely. but in excessive amounts it's a toxin. we know it's been associated with various types of cancers,

breast cancer, esophageal cancer, liver cancer, so, again, it's on a spectrum here ranging from it's okay to it can be deadly. >> speaking of spectrum, there is a huge one when it comes to men and women, correct? >> there is no gender equality when it comes to alcohol. first of all just based on sheer size most women are smaller than men but we metabolize alcohol differently. again, for women kind of average is one drink a day. for men it's two. above that it's considered excessive and we know also in the news recently, binge drinking in women in this country is skyrocketing. the definition of binge drinking four or more drinks in a two-hour period and we're seeing that go up amongst women, not so much men. >> what can we do if we want to cut down how much we're consuming? >> well, i think again we have to specify here. we're not talking about alcoholic level. we're talking about kind of everyone else who is trying to cut down. >> really what you're saying

for women is more than one drink a day. >> that's right which, you know is pretty easy to get to. number one, you could cut the number of days you consume alcohol. you can cut the amount you're consuming. you can try a dry period and could be everything from a weekend to a week to a month. recruit social support and family support. it's very difficult to do this by yourself if everyone in your circle is consuming and lastly, it's really not less, it's the most important, seek professional help. there are people -- this is all they do and they are very good at it and it can be life saving. >> all right, dr. jen as always, thank you very much. george, over to you. we move on now to that new documentary about princess diana that includes powerful stories from prince william and harry and open up about how they learn their mother was gone and diane macedo is here with the story. good morning, diane. >> george, good morning. diana's funeral was so public. now we're learning what was going on in private in the days leading up to it and the princes aren't just talking about their own experience with diana's death but also how their father reacted, how the queen reacted and the one thing they're still angry about. this morning, prince william and harry are sharing new

heartbreaking memories from the week after princess diana's untimely death nearly 20 years ago. it's all part of the new documentary "diana, 7 days" airing this weekend on the bbc. in it prince william speaks out about the life-changing moment he learned his mother died remembering i just remember feeling completely numb, disoriented, dizzy and you keep asking yourself, why me all the time. why, what have i done? why, why has this happened to us? >> when you have something so traumatic as the death of your mother when you're 15, as very sadly many people have experienced and no one wants to experience, it leaves you, you know, it will either make or break you and i wouldn't let it break me. i wanted it to make me. >> reporter: the princes praise their grandmother and father for defying public pressure and allowing them to grieve in private at the family's retreat in scotland, adding about prince charles, he was there for us and he tried to do his best and to make sure that we were protected and looked after.

but, you know, he was going through the same grieving process as well. among the documentary's most poignant moments prince william and prince harry's palpable anger about what happened inside that paris tunnel. >> she'd had quite a severe head injury but she was very much still alive on the backseat and those people that caused the accident instead of helping were taking photographs of her dying on the backseat. >> this is by far the most open we've seen them be about their mother and about their own feelings. we never heard them speak like this before and we won't hear them speak like this again. >> it airs this sunday on bbc one and it marks the first time the princes talked about how their father handled her death and people saw the queen's decision not to rush back from scotland as a snub to diana so it's quite powerful now to hear the princes say she did that to protect them. george, they say that the moment that that happened she chose to be their grandmother over being the queen and they are still grateful for that. >> oh, it is great to hear that. thank you, diane.

seltzer girl. >> i'm a little scared about the teeth thing. >> reporter: but experts say seltzer fans can relax. carbonated water is basically harmless. while it may cause heartburn in some people, there is no evidence it poses a serious threat to your tooth enamel. still, moderation is key. >> according to the research i haven't seen any harmful effects but i think someone drinking it all day may want to hold back a little bit and look at diversifying their beverages. >> okay, so now we want to demystify things here and try to burst the bubble on some of the myths. number one, does sparkling water dehydrate you? >> this is false. this is a myth. so sparkling water, yes, a lot of people are relieved. this is a big thing for people because it's so popular. sparkling water is just as hydrating for you as regular water. even in cases where there is sodium it's so minuscule the benefit of the water will overshadow -- >> is that where the myth came from?

because there's sodium. >> people will look on the label and see sodium is in there and not like regular water and wonder if it's bad for them. the benefit of the water is going to far outweigh that. drink up. >> is that amount of sodium that's in these waters, is that something to consider? >> no, it's not something you need to worry about. i checked with a very good source on this, our own jen ashton, and she said, no, drink up even with a little sodium. >> some people think these can help you lose weight. >> yeah, that is sometimes true. so if -- yes. [ applause ] good news, right? another reason to love it. if you're going to use sparkling water as a substitute for a sugary drink like soda, like juice it's going to help you because you're not drinking your calories and cutting those calories. some people find it makes them full. >> are you one of those people? >> yes, the bubbles keep me full. easy way to cut back on what you're eating so you can lose weight that way. water in general will help you feel more full and the carbonation here is going to help you too. >> okay, real quick, what about

we are back with a new twist to dating in the digital age. a survey by discover financial services and the company behind dating sites like tinder and match.com are suggesting your credit score could be the key to finding a match. our economics correspondent rebecca jarvis, ooh, and relationship expert and author of "don't weight your pretty" demetria lucas are both here.

how is your credit score and what is a good number? >> so the highest number you can get is 850 and this is the thing that's going to determine if you want to buy a home or a car or get a credit card, this is the thing that's going to determine whether or not you can get that loan and how much you're going to pay for it. the best thing you can do to get to that highest score which very few people have but to get up there is to pay your bills on time. >> that was what -- >> pay your bills on time. >> i got that right. audience, how many of you would post your credit score on a dating app? >> okay, we got a few takers in the corner. >> good credit scores over there. demetria, could it boost your chance of getting a good match. >> i think anything is possible but i think people are so much more than a credit score. you have to think about compatible. emotional intelligence, conversation, these are things that matter when you're dating. >> of course. >> but do you think that someone would be like, wow, that's an added bone must. >> if you're being honest about about it but people lie about their age, height, weight. i wouldn't know unless it was

someone else reporting. if people are self-reporting wouldn't everybody say 850. >> if you're going to put that skinny picture of yourself. >> exactly. how much of our audience would talk about their finances on a date? i mean, i saw some grimaces but, oh, okay. wow. ooh. not as many takers on that one so, demetria, let me ask you when is a good time to start talking about money, about financing? >> i think when you're talking about getting into a serious relationship when you're talking about committing because you're taking yourself out of the dating marketplace and probably thinking this is going somewhere or it could heed it a marriage so you want to know what are your partner's finances and credit score. what are you getting yourself into when you commit to them? >> all right, but definitely not on a first date. >> if someone asked me on my first date, check, please. >> rebecca, let me ask you this. is it safe to show your credit score on a dating app? >> sure, i mean technically it's safe from a financial standpoint. i don't know if it's safe from finding a love interest

standpoint. but, yeah, sure, you can do that. it's interesting, though, we polled our "gma" audience and asked them on twitter, have you -- do you know your credit score and interestingly enough, a third of our audience on twitter does not know their credit score so it's important to know this, amy. >> i'm going to be really honest. i don't know my credit score. >> okay. >> i don't. and it change, right? >> it fluctuates over time and it's really important. you can go to annualcreditreport.com. this is the place where you can find once a year that credit report for free. there are a lot of places out there that claim to be free they're not always the case and can you check with your bank because many banks nowadays will let you take a look at as well t errors on it to make sure you get it better. >> demetria, i want to ask you this, with people putting profiles up would you ever suggest putting anything financial on there to boost your likability? >> no. >> no. >> can you focus on who you are, what your interests are, your
