>> announcer: live where you live, this is "abc 7 news." forced to close up shop. tonight businesses around san francisco's crissy field say they have no choice and will keep their doors closed during a controversial rally this weekend. i'm dan ashley. >> i'm ama daetz. the permits for the rally organized by supporters for president trump was approved today. >> "abc 7 news" reporter lilian kim is live with this story. >> reporter: dan and ama, businesses were told to close for safety reasons in case saturday's rally turns violent. no strikes at the bowling center on saturday and those that work here are not happy about having to shet down. employees had to tell families the birthday parties they scheduled can no longer take place >> it is bad timing i guess. any time you lose a day's revenue for something like this,

it is not good at all. >> reporter: the business shut down had the pre-sid yo will stretch to crissy field where a prayer rally is scheduled. the national park service issued the permit citing the right to free speech. conditions include no firearms, aerosols, ammunition, big backpacks, drones, explosives, helmets, mace or pepper spray. employees at the cycle shop questioned whether issuing the permit was the right thing to do. >> i understand free speech and all of that and it is in the constitution, but i feel like if you couldn't ensure the safety of your employees or customers or, you know, people on a regular day, then i think there's something wrong. >> reporter: word of the upcoming closure is spreading to customers, many of whom are starting to feel anxious. >> i worry about my little baby. i want him to learn how to grow up in a community filled with love and trust and everybody's accepted. right now i don't feel that that's the way it is in our world. >> reporter: those who share

that sentiment will have the opportunity to take part in several peace rallies throughout the city. in san francisco, lilian kim, "abc 7 news" an anti-markist demonstrate said for sunday in beckly is spurring counter events. free speech demonstrators at civic center park, she will lead them at the farm and community garden. >> i need to take all of the pain and energy and focus it into the best, the most positive thing i can do. >> other events include an empathy pop-up saturday night at civic center park and a resist racist violence and hate rally at lonnie park on sunday morning. an event held tonight promoted healing and unity. "abc 7 news" was in berkley for the local launch of the one america movement. the initiative works to bridge divisions through community service and dialogue. it is a group founded by muslim,

possibility of a government shut down and the iran deal. then a question on historical statues. >> stop tearing down what we've built. is the washington monument going to go because washington had slaves? >> reporter: the congressman said people have to tone down the temperature and talk. >> that finds common ground, that respects what the symbols mean but understands what they mean and the hurt they cause others. >> reporter: the congressman told us the country is having a crisis of common purpose. >> it's been disappointing the see the president draw moral equivalence between those who marched for white supremacy and those who were protesting white supremacy. >> reporter: that being said, the congressman said he didn't want to spend time "bashing the president." he wants to work on moving the country forward. to that end he just passed his first bill with gop majority leader kevin mccarthy that allows veterans to use money to take tech courses. >> it was an example -- i disagree with mccarthy on many

thing but we found common ground on preparing people for jobs of the 21 extentry. >> reporter: the congressman opposes the president's plan to send more troops to afghanistanful he told constituents here the only viable strategy is complete troop withdrawal. in san jose, katie marzullo, "abc 7 news." >> new tonight, the white house is moving forward with president trump's ban on transgender people in the military. a white house memo directs the pentagon to deny admittance of transgender individuals. the report says the new policy will give defense secretary james mattis discretion on whether to kick can a transgender person out of the military. the defense secretary will have six months to implement the new ban. one day after a bombastic rally in arizona, president trump shifted his tone in an appearance in reno. the president addressed veterans at the american legion convention and issued a call for national unity. >> it is time to heal the wounds that divide us and to see a new

unity based on the common values that unite us. we are one people with one home and one great flag. >> after his speech, president trump signed legislation called the veterans appeals improvement and modernization act. the bipartisan bill was designed to update and improve the benefit claims appeal process and reduce the waiting times at va hospitals lake county sheriffs deputies hope the public will come out to honor their fallen colleague during a procession tomorrow. vegors believe depp rob rumfelt suffered a medical emergency before crashing into a tree last night. he died at as who. here is video from the crash scene in lakeport. now a procession will head north on highway 29 from napa back to lakeport. it is expected to enter lake county about 4:00 in the afternoon. you are looking at what happened after a car slammed into a nail salon in santa rosa's bennet valley neighborhood.

police believe the driver mistook the gas pedal for the break while reaching for something in the back seat. a modern nails employee was hurt around 6:45 this evening. that woman suffered a gash to her head. >> water fountains in some locker room showers are off limits at an east bay high school because of water quality. it was found that unsafe levels of lead were coming out of a water fountain, kitchen and locker room showers. the fixtures are the source of the lead, not the water. >> whether it was the faucet or whatever, once we replaced though weise realized the water was coming out clean of lead. >> replacing the shower heads could take up to two months. the school brought in water dispensers until it installs filters on all water fountains well, one person in massachusetts hit the jackpot in tonight's $758 million powerball drawing. closer to home, one ticket in daly city and another in

sheri tonight good samaritans are being credited for helping save a man from an oncoming bart train. surveillance video captured the man ending up in the path of the oncoming train at the civic center station on monday. other passengers immediately tried to help. one man ran toward the train, waving his arms. others waved, too. you can see it happening there. the train stopped in time and the man was rescued. we've made a special video where you can relive the extraordinary show of humanity at abc7news.com and on our "abc 7 news" app nice when people spring into action like that. tonight the "abc 7 news" i-team takes you to fremont where a developer building new homes has come across indian remains. >> sources confirm crews dug up 32 kell tons in two acres. i-team reporter dan noyes has

more on the controversy and what is being done about it. >> reporter: the website for southern california builder van daele homes touts the project in fremont, elegant home plans, close proximity to silicon valley, priced around $1.2 million. no mention of the 32 skeletons they found there, one carbon dated to 650 years ago. tim fisher is the senior project manager. >> reporter: the developer will not talk to me on camera about it? >> i'm sorry. we would like to provide our native american representative the opportunity to address your questions. >> reporter: she's your -- are you paying her? >> she is retained to provide services here on the site. >> reporter: by california law, when a builder finds what may be indian remains they must contact the native american heritage commission in sacramento which locates the nearest most likely descend ant. the builder pays them up to $100 to monitor the site to make sure remains are handled properly.

comes to life. the project is already sold out, but there's another important question. >> reporter: are you informing the buyers there are skeletons on the property? >> there are disclosures to the property of what has been found here on site, yes. >> reporter: just a few families have moved in. the woman in this car told me she did sign a disclosure form about the sell tons when closing on her home. but lisa tempaw had no idea about the indian remains found where she lives. >> reporter: that's new to you? >> yes, i'm navajo. >> reporter: you didn't know? >> no. >> reporter: crews removed the 32 skeletons but they're coming back. look behind the construction fence from drone view 7. they left a hole in the road. they will put all of the remains in the big white box, the vault, and cover it with a foot of asphalt. >> once they're reburied according to state law, more than six burials, that vault is a designated cemetery. >> reporter: andy gal vin says a better option would have been to leave the skeletons in place or

category one hurricane, but the bigger issue friday night and into the weekend, especially in texas along the coast a lot of rain, perhaps locally over ten inches of rain causing flooding concerns. at home it is quieter and a warmer pattern. a little change on friday and returning warmer saturday and especially into sunday, the it whoer of the two days this weekend. the accuweather seven-day forecast, plan the next seven days, mild to warm on thursday with little change on friday and then the numbers right saturday and especially into sunday. sunday we're warm. we will do it again on monday, but that heat doesn't last all that long. by tuesday, especially into wednesday we're backing off inland, back into the 80s this time next week. >> excellent. thanks, drew. >> sure. all right. well, a dog trapped in a car. >> coming
