atmosphere this saturday. this fitness class has come up with a new plan for this saturday. they won't be here on the field. the instructor says he'll move the class to the marin head lands which isn't convenient for some clients who say they have plans. they just can't invest that much time in going that far this saturday. >> unfortunately, i won't be able to make it to that so i will be missing out on a workout from the weekend from that. >> given what's happened recently i can see why people are doing it. it's better to be safe than sorry. our members are, you know, number one priority, so we're -- that's why we're moving away. >> no cars or bikes will be allowed from the main post to the palace of the fine arts so that impacts all the presidio businesses, including the ymca. it will shut down on saturday and so will the bowling alley and all saturday birthday parties will have to be

rescheduled or cancelled. the list goes on and on. national park service has said unless you're attending the rally you should plan to visit the presidio another day. we've reached out several times and in several different ways to the park service to ask about if there are any weddings planned for the chapel on saturday in the event that the officers club. what can businesses do to try to reclaim the lost revenue. we have not heard back except for one text that referred us to the statement on the national parks website. reporting live in san francisco. amy hollyfield. abc 7 news. >> amy, thank you. the man whose rally is causing concern for the businesses spoke with abc 7 news in a skype interview. joey gibson told us he knew all along he would be granted the permit to hold the rally because of freedom of speech. gibson also said the patriot prayer rally has nothing to do with president trump. >> what i'm trying to do is bigger -- it's beyond trump. it's beyond politics. we're talking about culture here right now. we're talking about love, respect, kindness, you know,

honest, being good to one another and so we're not throwing a trump rally. >> city leaders have denounced patriot prayer rallies in other cities for having been a forum for white supremacists. gibson says the last thing he wants to see is the kind of violence that erupted in charlottesville which was unrelated to his group. saturday's rally is planned from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at crissy field. several counterprotests are scheduled nearby. there's also a rally at noon at harvey milk plaza are in the castro and at the civic center at 1:00 p.m. we have the information on our abc 1 news app and on abc7news.com. and there will be a site of a rally of hate and violence on saturday. racial justice leaders want to counter a right wing ramy at civic center park in berkly. other counterrallies include an empathy pop-up saturday night at civic center park and a volunteer event at north

richmond farm on sunday. the south bay is having increased debate over statues including the christopher columbus. a group has started an online betoys get the statue relocated saying someone involved in the genocide of native americans should not be at city hall. a san jose state university professor was supposed to come back to the crass after a demotion but now it appears he won't. abc 7 news reporter matt keller is live on campus with the details. >> reporter: kristen, students are planning a protest on campus on monday. they are concerned about what took place with this professor after he was accused of sexual harassment. the professor will not be teaching at san jose state this semester. the decision came yesterday when students taking the professor's two graduate classes were

notified of the changes. >> knowing that there were the accusations, how the whole matter was handled and then bringing him back, but i know for a lot of other students the concern has been that this class has been lost, and a lot of them have to graduate. >> this morning san jose state announced it has found a replacement for the cancelled class and a different professor will fill in for the other course. the professor last taught in a san jose state classroom for about a week at the beginning of 2016 fall semester. he's been on paid leave since then due to an investigation into a 2014 sexual harassment claim by a student. the professor had already been sanctioned by the university after a 2015 investigation and was required to take a short leave of absence without pay and receive additional training, but all of this is just a small part of the troubles facing the department of counsellor education. an e-mail from the interim dean at the college of education announced the department will undertake a complete review of its program conversation and structures during the school year saying student and

faculties have expressed a myriad of concerns about admissions advising course offerings and communications and instructional quality, program reputation and student/faculty dynamics. >> there's been an ongoing discussion with students and the message today confirms that that discussion will continue this fall, and what we also know, of course, is that the events of the past few weeks will be part of that larger discussion about how to move forward with this department. >> i reached out to it the professor's attorney for a response to the latest developments and have yet to hear back from them. reporting live at san jose state, matt keller, aches 7 news. >> matt, thank you. a dean at san francisco state university is suing the school. the sf gate reports the college of ethnic students dean kenneth montero accused the university president of retaliation. the college has struggled with ongoing budget deficits. last year students protested because they thought sf state was holding back funds. the suit says the president

wrongly blamed montero for the protests and over spending and threatened to fire him. the dean claims he lost out on job opportunities because of it. water fountains and some locker room showers are off limits at an east bay high school due to water quality issues. abc 7 news was at mcklieman's high school in oakland where it was found unsafe levels of lead were coming out of water foup tans and shower heads and saying the fixtures are the source of the lead and not the water. >> whether it was the faucet or fountainhead, whatever, once we replaced those the water was come out clean of lead. >> replacing all the shower heads to cake up to two months. the school mass brought in water dispensers until it instaults filters on all fountains. new details on two sisters reported missing after attending an eclipse viewing the two girls have been found safe.

18-year-old melissa little and little sister kalila were never in any danger. the girls simply decided to stay longer. they lost cell phone service and couldn't call their parents who were very worried as you might imagine. the sisters are now on their way home to south lake tahoe. happening today. napa is marking three years since a 6.20 quake rattled the city. some of the city's buildings have yet to be fixed. the napa valley register the total cost of repairs is still being calculated. happening now, bracing for impact along the texas gulf coast were harvey upgraded to a hurricane, the first hurricane to hit the area since ike. counties are preparing for catastrophic rainfall. water, food and batteries are in short supply and along the coastline people are stockpiling sand bags. >> we've got kids so we want to

breaking news on a hostage situation in charleston, south carolina. the mayor says a man is holding several people hostage in a restaurant in the popular king street area. at least one person was shot. the mayor calls the suspect a disgruntled employee. police are currently negotiating with them. witnesses say a man with the gun told everyone in the restaurant to get down and move to the back of the building. some people were able to escape. several nearby businesses are on lockdown. developing news in brazil where the search continues for dozens of people missing following a deadly boating accident. it happened early this morning in the bay of all saints near the northeastern city of salvador. at least 22 people are confirmed dead. this video shows some of the

after a little bit of mist this morning, a lot of cloud cover starting to turn to hazy sunshine from 280 pockets of clouds come back. more mist and the heat is still coming. we just pushed it back about a day. temperatures in the 50s, along the coast into san francisco and 60s around the bay and some 70s in the south bay and even 80 already in brentwood where we've

had more sunshine than everybody else. 1:00 this afternoon and this evening. same area in yellow and same gusty winds come out of the southwest at 21 to 33 knots and over the coast it's brisk there until at least 3:00 saturday morning, so if you're heading that way it will feel cool from the low to mid-60s for the highs. into the low to mid-70s for the south bay. mid to upper 880s and on the peninsula today, mainly 71 to 76 but we do have millbrae a little bit cooler at 68. half moon bay at 64 and everybody else at 62 along the peninsula coast. 65 in downtown san francisco today. head up to the north bay. we're right around 80 to 82 degrees. a little warmer in novato and 83 and lakeport at 92. along the east bay shore 70 to 75 for most of us. oakland at 70, a little cooler and breezy in richmond and hercules is 75 and 84 in sam ramon and pleasanton and could get to 92 in brentwood. you would be the exception today. the look at san rafael.

a lot of sunshine out there. 12-hour day plane, by the time we get to lunch, most of us around 72 top 6 degrees except near the coast around 60. at the coast, 4:00, 8:00 and even midnight we're in the upper 50s to 80s. 69 around the bay and low 60s at 8:00 and 12:00. 4:00, 80s and midnight 66 and 59. we'll drop all the way down to 53 in santa rosa for the cool spot. palo alto, fremont, san jose and antioch for the warm spots. let's take a look at my accuweather seven-day forecast hand what you're going to see is barely any change tomorrow. the heat starts slipping into our forecast away from the coast saturday. some of that have will leak to the coast but never gets too obnoxious. could get into the upper 60s to saturday. hottest sunday and monday and air conditioners humming in a lot of neighborhoods if you have them and the heat will start to taper a little bit tuesday and wednesday. >> sound good. >> thanks, mike. >> shutting down part of the golden gate bridge for marathons
