live where you live, this is abc 7 news. >> here you see they're lowering someone in a basket. >> hundreds of people escape flood waters in houston as hurricane harvey just becomes aparpt. we begin with developing news out after texas. the tropical storm causing unprecedented city. tonight, houston is a city. crisis. rescue operations continue in the darkness of night. more than 2,000 rescue callses have come in and more rain is expected. >> we got you. don't worry. >> a crew from the abc station in houston stepped in to help as elderly people struggled to get out of their home. you see them lifting a man to

abc 7 news. >> you may wind up paying more to fill up. several refineries are off line from the storm and that has reduced gasoline supplies nationwide. governor brown activated four additional california urban search and rescue teams to head to texas to help with the search and rescue. and oakland firefighters just got to the scene there. abc's reporter alissa harrington has a look. >> reporter: help is on the way to disaster zone hurricane harvey. the crew spent the day packing for the trip to texas. they specialize in water rescue. they will join other rescuers from all over the nation including task fours four who left oakland saturday night. >> that's what they are looking

the forecast on the go. a rally that was canceled days ago drew a thousand people to berkeley. and both sides clashed at times. abc 7 reporter william king is live at the park with more. william? >> reporter: things got physical here at civic center park. people from both sides in a fight. >> you don't know! >> reporter: tensions ran high and fights broke out as members of left and right went face to face at civic center park. on hand, hundreds of police officers ready to arrest at first sign of trouble. counterdemonstrators overwhelmed those there for what was supposed to be an anti-marxist party. the objective was supposed to be

oakland, a temperature drop midweek will feel more like average. tropical tomorrow harvey, still a tropical storm. it is slowly moving to the south and east. what that means, it's going to emerge over open gulf waters. the latest track has harvey going back in the gulf and meanders around houston. this is additional rainfall on what they have already seen. you can see the problems just continue for houston as we are likely going see another foot of rainfall. back here at home, the seven-day forecast are, it's hot tomorrow and a trend through wednesday. we are calling it temporary cooling. thursday and friday, the heat right back before the temperatures go right back down over the weekend. and a roller coaster the next
