new this morning, the u.s. has flown some of its most advanced war planes to south korea. it's a show of force after north korea's latest ballistic missile launch. a south korean millty official said today two b-1-b supersonic bombers and four fighter jets participated in training with korean fighter jets. on tuesday, north korea flew a ballistic missile. that's the video you're seeing on your screen. that went over northern japan. the country later called it a meaningful prelude to containing guam. so a threat that a lot of people are watching, and the u.s. has responded somewhat this morning. back to you. >> thanks, jess. new details in the trump russia investigation. the a.p. says a lobbyist who was at a secret meeting involving donald trump jr. and jared kushner has testified now before a grand jury. trump jr. and kushner expected to get damaging information

about hillary clinton from someone who claimed today have a connection to the russian government. trump jr. says nothing came of it. the lobbyist is a former soviet military officer. special council robert mueller is using the grand jury to investigate possible collusion between the trump campaign and russia. >> 4:38 now. santa clara county and san francisco are asking a federal judge to permanently block an executive order by president trump cutting off funding to so-called sanctuary cities. the judge temporary blocked it in april. it cuts off money to communities that limit the cooperation of jail within jails with immigration officers. san francisco alone would be at risk of losing $2 billion a year if the judge reinstates the president's order. we give you a quick look at what harvey is doing. you can see right up the mississippi river valley, the ohio river valley, all those areas in green and also around pensacola, florida, and mobile, alabama, those are flood watches

messages at the gates at kensington palace. princess diana, her boyfriend, and their driver were killed in a car crash in paris. paul was found to be drunk at the time. multiple investigations attributed the deaths to reckless driving, and the paparazzi tailing the limo that they were in. the princes william and harry expected to mark the anniversary of their mother's death today, but they'll do it privately. >> a california department of water resources is refuting claims by a uc berkeley professor that the oroville dam may still be leaking. he issued a report saying the dam could breach because of persistent green spots. the dwr says they're natural vegetation growth caused by rainfall. they said the spots have been there since before the lake was filled. >> palo alto wants you to look at a photo of a robbery suspect. the tactic he's accused of using

involved a car. this is on newal road monday morning. police believe he and another man waited in the car for a store employee who was going to make a bank deposit. the suspects rear ended the woman's car. when she got out to take a picture of the damage, that's when the suspected grabbed her bank deposit and drove away. >> a busy weekend for caltrans and a potentially frustrating one for drivers on the bay bridge. bicyclists and boaters may have headaches too. it's all because the agency plans to blast away what's left of the old supports for the bay bridge. here's eric thomas. >> caltrans says no cars will be allowed on the bay bridge during the blasting period of saturday morning. >> a 20 to 30-minute rolling closure. >> no boats will be allowed within 1500 feet of the piers in that time, and environmental experts will be on the bay to postpone it if threatened wildlife wandered into the area.

the people most likely to be most effected are the people who use the bike and pedestrian path. it will be closed from the sunday before the implosion until a couple hours after it's over. >> this saturday, we'll start out with two piers next to each other, the pier seven and eight marine foundations and those will be imploded, just milliseconds apart. >> barges are in place right now so crews can place the explosives in just the right sfauts. >> we're shaving off the concrete off the re-enforcing steel. then we're letting gravity do what gravity does, take it down. >> doing it this time of year means less harm to wildlife and compressing the time schedule saves the state $10 million. b.a.r.t. passengers may see delays, especially those who travel under the bay through the transbay tube. >> they decided they would pause the traffic in b.a.r.t., and i believe that was just for an abundance of safety. >> the demolition work starts this saturday with two or three additional piers being demolished and clears away every

other weekend until november 11th. eric thomas, abc7 news. >> i feel like i'm going to implode from this weather we're about to have. hi, mike. >> yeah, going to get a little warm, especially in san francisco and along the coast saturday. that will be your hottest day. for the rest of us, it all starts today. here's a look from the east bay hills camera. notice what you don't see, low clouds and fog. the cooing marine layer, you'll feel it this morning, but a ginormous jump in temperatures today from 20 to 45 degrees from the coast to our inland neighborhoods. places that are in the 50s now are going to end up in the 100s later today. places like our east bay valleys could see temperatures warm 50 degrees today. dangerous heat and weekend poor air quality, and highs slowly taper next week. let's take a look at what's going on. just jump right in to our temperatures. 89 in milpitas to 90 in sunnyvale and cupertino. triple digits, morgan hill and gilroy. on the peninsula, 78, not bad,

millbrae. everybody else around 90 degrees. 67 to about 70 degrees along the peninsula coast. mid to upper 70s in downtown south san francisco and sausalito. 92 to 97 through most of the north bay. cloverdale, lakeport, ukiah, well over 100. 83, the cool spot, berkeley. near 90 in fremont and castro valley. 102 to 105, and these are some of the cooler temperatures moving forward in the inland east bay neighborhoods. tonight, a little stuffier. temperatures in the 60s and 70s. look how much warmer it's going to be saturday morning. mid 60s to near 80 degrees. here's my seven-day forecast. it's just going to hang around all the way through the labor day monday. then it will slowly taper next week, but still warmer than average. >>, does that say 114 and 112? >> yeah, first time in more than a decade we used those temperatures. we talked about poor air quality, too. spare the air. several days. >> yeah, today, spare the air day. you're saying get used to it.

we'll have several of those in a row. we do have several folks out driving already this morning. san jose, 101 and 880 slowly starting to fill in. the inbound side, the heavier side of things, the traffic coming toward us, but overall, not too far today. mass transit is looking great this morn figure you want to take that instead of carpooling for spare the air day. but heads-up this weekend when it's going to be really hot. weekend track work in downtown oakland, so you can expect some delays. this will impact two lines saturday, sunday, and monday, the labor day holiday, on the warm springs line and dublin line. lake merritt station will be closed essentially. those tracks will be closed between 19th street and fruitvale station. there will be a free bus bridge, and that could add 15 to 25 minutes to your trip. you want to plan ahead. on the roads, looking good. we'll look at drive times coming up next. >> thank you. the warriors newest nba championship trophy has already traveled more than 25,000 miles over the summer, going to the
