in the city as well as mown tun view and from the golden gate bridge, you see a e breeze there and we will be looking at a different forecast, the second half of your weekend, so we have better news if we can just get through today. 67 santa rosa, 76 in concord and we're look iing at terms warmer than we were yesterday this morning by 7 degrees in hayward. santa cruz until 9:00 tonight then on the shoreline, excessive heat warnings. the bay area, the rest of the bay through labor day, but the spare the air alert in down in santa cruz today, well into the 0i9ds, but throughout the morning, you'll see the temperatures steadily increase now to noontime inland. >> a traffic alert if you're riding cal train this weekend. be prepared for delays.

weekend. high school athletes in particular are at risk. katie ewe tes has the story from pleasonton. >> i feel like i'm in tucson. >> this high school football field is more than 800 miles from tucson, but am athletes are battling desert here. >> they canceled all their games tonight so we were wondering maybe we should have, but not too bad right now. >> pleasonton delayed the high school game until after sunset. >> so when ever the student athletes need a break for water, we're going break for water. it's not even a time-out. >> alameda county fire is focusing on hydration, too, in anticipation of heat related calls this weekend. >> we'll probably surge 10 to 15%. >> they've loaded a hydration truck, brought in two dozers and increased staffing for medical emergencies. >> don't hesitate to call 911. smoky haze is also a concern. >> it's going to be hard on

chimney going. >> they said the smoke came from shutting down the facility. congresswoman jackie spear disagreed, saying if there ever was doubt that espionage was going on in the sf consulate, black smoke clears the air on the issue. new developments in the russia vest fwags of this morning's special counsel robert mueller may have key evidence that could reveal if president trump fired james comey from the fbi to block the agency's probe into his possible ties with russia. sources close to the investigation told "the new york times" mueller has a letter that mr. trump drafted days before the firing on may 9-. it lays tout reasons for the fbi director's dismissal. sources say a mite white counsel objected to the original letter because parts were a problem. the president released a

different letter citing the hillary clinton e-mail ve investigation as grounds for comey's departure. president trump is traveling to texas to survey disaster zones after harvey. he boarded air force one in washington, d.c. about an hour and a half ago. more devastation in houston this morning where firefighters are battling this large fire at a housing complex in a flood l community. they say the building is is likely a total loss. no word yet on how the fire began. harvey is projected to be the second most costly natural disaster in u.s. history. elizabeth hur has the latest on the clean up and recovery efforts. >> chris, good morning. president trump is now on his way as the governor here is continuing wa warn residents to remain village lent. what you see behind me, that is why. that water is not supposed to be there. bodies and rivers are still swoel rngs so the governor is

welcome back. in san francisco, police are cracking down on car break ins. start thg weekend, the police department is more than doubling the number of fum time officers patrolling on foot. it's reassigning officers from a patrol bureau in the narcotics unit. there's been a 28% drop this year. the police chief says the current rate may drop if police are more visible. san francisco police have captured man they believe targeted asian women in series of assaults. 19-year-old garcia face hate crime and attempted kidnapping charges. he attacks several victims after they got off muni buses and police believe there may be other victims who haven't report ed being attacked. developing news in southern california. a brush fire has grown to at least 3,000 acres. a live look at the fire burning now in burbank. suk see smoke and flames rise frg the the the the the the

intensitied, spread iing across the highway. >> actually really scary because we've never had a fire this close to us. >> jim avila, abc new, los angeles. firefighters had a hard time getting to a brush fire in san jose, but once they got there, they quickly put out the flames. it started near communications hill around 9:20 last night and burned one and a half acres. >> san jose firefighters also battled flames while enduring yesterday's intense heat. sky 7 flew over a townhouse fire that drove 15 people from their homes. one person suffered a minor injury. vest garretts are b looking for what spark eed the fire. at around 4:30 yesterday afternoon. glam flaims gutted two units, smoke and water damaged eight other homes. in the south bay, there were wedding bells an beads of sweat.

the smock, mt. tam and north winds pulling that a in from the fires to the north and those northeast winds continue for much of us today, that's why we're going to be so hot with that unhe wihealthy air. we need the sea breeze back. 76 in the city, 73 in oakland. 78 in san jose, now the average high in oakland is 75 for this time of year. 64 in half moon bay and from the coast, you can see it is clear and we'll look for a warm day here. 68 in santa rosa. and livermore, so big dome of high pressure cutting off the push and with that, we have the sinking, warm air, poor air fall quaulty and temperatures in the 90s here. yesterday, it was over 100. so once again, dangerous heat continues into today. but the break comes for the coast and peninsula later on

today, but ooen tomorrow will be a better day. we'll still have records today with most cities above 100 degrees today. oakland, 100 and 90 and 90 and 0 improvements for the second half of your weekend. labor day, low 80s then the average highs. looks like this forecast is going to hold for more temperate weather for the first week of september, so beach forecast, sunny and warm with temperatures in the low to mid-80s from half bay, could be warmer than this, and water temperature, 61 degrees. 90s in monterey, so last day of excessive heat and as we go through our hour by hour planner, here comes the high cloud cover. later on tonight into early tomorrow morning. 7:00, we'll have the high clouds ten the fog as well, so by the afternoon, we've got partly cloud request skies and we have a cooler day on tap for sunday. labor day looks to be b the best

the quick look at the weather. here's lisa. she's tracking the conditions where you live. hi, lisa. >> good morning to you. now, hot out there already and the spare the air alert continues with temperatures approaching 80 degrees inland. we're in the 90ness the upper elevations. 78 in hayward and san jose. so we're looking at not only a warm day today, but could be warmer than yesterday in some spots, but we're expecting a sea breeze late in the afternoon. so, those of you on the peninsula in san francisco, you could feel the difference, but between now and 9:00, it's a red flag warning for the upper elevations of the north bay, the mountains there, santa cruz and a heat advisory or heat warning for excessive heat until 9:00 tonight from sonoma, marin, san matteo and this lasts until monday so the air eququality is horrible out there. especially in the inland east bay and santa clara valley and santa cruz today in the 90s. so you can see the hazy conditions there.

so upper 70s right now. by noontime, we're around 90 in the bay. 100 degrees inland and by the afternoon, once again, record breaking heat with over 110 inland and around the bay. almost as hot, a little cooler at the coast today. chris. >> thank you. for the first time in its 36-year history, the heat has forced the cancellation of the popular livermore valley harvest wine celebration. but most of the areas wineries are still open for business this weekend. at three steves winery in livermore, the hot weather playing a role in the all important harvest. >> we started this morning at 4:00 a.m. got it off the vines at 9:00. immediately put it into ar conditioning to keep the fruit cool. >> steve and his team are bracing for a busy weekend. this time of year, we're going to pick up mite because we don't want anybody to get a heatstroke or having problems and we don't want the fruit hot. >> many keeping an eye on the

heat for the first time in 36 years, the annual livermore valley harvest wine celebration scheduled for this weekend has been canceled, citing safety concern organizers say they had to know their choice. >> even though we had shade and misters planned, not necessarily enough with temperatures that are so oppressive and potentially breaking record sz in the bay area. >> at the winery, visitors who planned on attending, take a few sips while soaking up the disapointing news. >> there's a lot of news in the heat. people come out and drink and don't drink enough water. i completely understand why they did it. it makes sense. >> tasting room manager is looking ahead with multiple events on tap this weekend, she's prepared to adapt if negative.

>> it kind of depends on what the people would like to have. if the bride and groom say yes, it's way too hot, easily we can transfer right inside. >> some taking advantage of the lighter crowds. >> besides walking from the car to the tasting room, only in the heat if for a few minutes and it's beautiful in the wine tasting. >> and those who bought tickets for the harvest wine celebration will be refunded in the coming days. travelers are facing delays at sfo because of the heat. you're looking at people waiting for shuttle buses after the hot weather forces the air train system to close yesterday afternoon. air train is now running limited service along with shutting buses connecting terminals to the rental car center. beat the heat with a dip in the pool. the san francisco department of emergency management said on twitter, all city pools will be open and free to the public today. if you need another place to keep cool, you can go to a public library or cooling center near you. we've posted a full list of locations online. ten house republicans have signed a letter telling house speaker paul ryan it would be wrong to deport 800,000 so-called dreamers.

this tuesday, president trump is expected to reveal the fate of that program that protected those children who were brought into the country illegally. abc's senior white house correspondent has the latest. >> president trump in the oval office and we asked when will remake that decision on dreamers? >> the decision? >> sometime today or over the weekend, we'll have a decision. >> the white house now says the announcement will come on tuesday. nearly 800,000 so-called dreamers who came to the country illegally as children are protected from deportation under the obama era order known as daca. the president now set to design their fate. in january, he said this. >> they shouldn't be wor ared. they're here illegally. i have a big heart. >> we asked again. >> should dreamers be worried? >> we love the dreamers. we love everybody. thank you very much.
