expire tonight and here's why. we have some clouds moving in. high clouds spreading through bringing some thunderstorms and lightning strikes through parts near yosemite valley and through some of the areas in that, through the central part of california. even just north of los angeles, and this is all due to post tropical lydia that is going to start sliding up the coast, bringing us a chance of light rain, even some thunderstorms tomorrow into tuesday. so, we'll keep you posted on that. if you're heading out tonight, we are finally seeing a change in the pattern. temperatures should be dropping during the 6:00 hour to even some 60s at the coast, 70s and 80s around the bay and 90s inland. we're going to say good-bye to the triple digit heat tomorrow. tonight much more comfortable. you'll actually might need a jacket in san francisco once again by midnight. here's a live shot in santa cruz. still a gorgeous day, though, at the beech, but you may have noticed the hazy skies and smokey conditions out there.

so, still hot today, but you notice temperatures have come down compared to the record breaking heat we had the past couple days. then it is going to be much cooler for labor day, and then the cooling trend continues all the way into the workweek. here's another live shot. this is in san jose with those gray skies. so, a spare the air alert in effect for tomorrow. but the air quality improves, it will be moderate to poor in some of the inland, east bay and santa clara valleys. it will only be poor and that is an improvement from unhealthy. no more 70s. san francisco 61. we'll see 80s as well, and look at santa clara. 86, more comfortable morgan hill 91, again we'll see 80s instead of the 90s along the lower part of peninsula. palo alto 83, at the coast even some 70s for you. 76 downtown san francisco with those high clouds moving

through, the haze continues and smoky conditions. north bay will be mid-'80s, petaluma, sonoma and napa, low to mid-'80s in the east bay. berkeley 81, 84 in fremont, triple digit heat gone. we'll see 90s in the inland areas, walnut creek 90, livermore 93 degrees. so, that is quite a drop from all the triple digit heat we've seen the past couple days. and you'll see that it continues to drop with the accuweather seven-day forecast. so, it's going to be a nicer barbecue day for labor day tomorrow. you'll notice it's cooler but it is also going to be a little muggier with post tropical lydia bringing more humid conditions and the slight chance of rain or thunderstorm monday night into tuesday. dropping will be much more comfortable by mid week. >> we have to get you a bigger chair. thank you, frances, for that. ta stu is here with sports. >> the u.s. open is over.
