since 2012, dreamers or young undocumented immigrants who came to the united states as children have been protected from deportation. president trump is expected to rescind their protected status with an announcement tomorrow. sources say mr. trump wants to end the obama era program in six months. abc7 news spoke to a woman with daca status who holds a masters degree from san jose state. she works legally and supports her entire family. if mr. trump ends daca, which stands for deferred action for childhood arrivals, she says her life would crumble. >> the limited status that we had, you know, i think every dreamer is deserving of this little string that the government offered. and then to take this back is -- it's wrong. it's completely wrong. >> santa clara county supervisor dave cortezy says there are

24,000 dreamers in this county alone. tim cook dweeted that 250 dreamers work at apple. both men say they're standing with the dreamers. tiffany wilson, abc7 news. >> thank you, tiffany. happening today, hundreds of oakland workers will march in support of high wages on this labor day strike. they plan to rally at 9:00 this morning at the mcdonald's on jackson street and parch through downtled oakland. workers are demanding union rights and to be paid $15 an hour. right now, the minimum wage is $12.86. it will gradually increase to $15. >> this morning, the u.n. security council will hold an emergency meeting to discuss international response to north korea's latest nuclear test. the test is said to have been a hydrogen bomb that is be mounted on an intercontinental ballistic missile. >> a strong warning overnight from south korea's military to

reach up to $180 billion. congress is expected to approve nearly $8 billion in federal aid to help storm victims but it may need to raise the debt ceiling to do it. many disaster zones are still under water. government officials hope the city will be back on track after labor day. >> to see the level of commercial activity, the level of people traveling around and the number of people who were working to rebuild, texas is mending -- texas and houston are mending quickly. >> harvey is blamed for at least 44 deaths. sthouns of people remain in shelters. >> pets arrived in san francisco from texas hoping to find new homes following hurricane harvey. you're looking at video provided by the san francisco spca showing some of the 70 animals moments after they landed at sfo aboard a private plane yesterday. several groups are working to match the pets with new homes. they'll likely go up for adoption later this week. >> you may have heard the owner of a furniture retail chain

opened his doors for harvey victims. mattress matt turns two showrooms into evacuation shelters. hundreds of people slept on his mattresses and now they're petitioning to designate august 26th as mattress mack day. less than 5,000 signatures away from their goal of 200,000 signatures. our day of giving event for harvey has wrapped up. you can still donate by calling 85-999-give. a big thank you, again, to everyone who has already donated. the drive raised more than $14 million. >> developing news in sonoma county where the hunt is on for an arsonist after six different fires broke out. you're looking at one of those fires along stony point road in santa rosa. the flames destroyed a barn and at least one car. that fire broke out around 5:00 yesterday evening. witnesses say the fire started

after someone threw items from a car. developing news out of san francisco. police investigating a shooting that left a young person hurt. it happened around 7:30 last night near treat avenue and 26th street. a juvenile injured, his or kerr condition fought clear, but the victim is expected to survive. no word on what led up to that shooting. >> san mateo county residents might see new surveillance cameras in the next few months. the mercury news reports a neighborhood security start-up plans to install cameras in hillsborough. it tracks who comes and goes by logging license plates. the cameras are free, but flock charges $25 to $50 for each home per year of service. show of hands, anybody sleep better this morning or last night than the last couple nights? here's probably one of the reasons why. up to 80 8 degrees cooler in s

francisco. 4 degrees cooler in oakland. 4 degrees cooler in hayward, concord, about 6 in antioch. the only place it's warmer, novato and santa rosa. let's look an our san francisco neighborhoods. a lot of mid 60s out there from ocean beach in west portal at 63 to petrero hill, bay view, mission, castro, crissy field, all about 66 degrees. 67 in richmond right now and san leandro and also up in healdsburg. still warmer in santa clara, 72. belmont and palo alto at 71. 72 at walnut creek and pleasanton, and 67, that richmond temperature a little better. here's a look from sutro tower this morning. on the roads, use the ac. get that air clean before it comes in and you breathe it. mild to hot today from san francisco to inland and mass transit and on the bay, a whole lot of smoke. check out our temperatures. 70s, 80s, and 90s, so more relief today. mainly 70s and 80s tomorrow. and then 60s, 70s, and 80s

wednesday. will the cooling trend continue? we'll look at that and the latest radar which has some showers near us. that's coming up next. here's alexis. >> good morning. taking a look at the roads this morning, off to a really quiet start as you would imagine on a labor day holiday. getting a report from chp we have a couple chunks of concrete that fell from the university overpass, northbound 101. in the left two lanes under university avenue. i'm not seeing delays in the area and chp is on the way to the scene. we'll keep an eye on that. hopefully the overpass is okay, if we have chunks of concrete falling. maybe it was clipped by a truck this morning. a quick check outside, wide open bay bridge toll plaza. really surprised if we have the metering lights flipped on today. talk about mass transit, the lake merritt b.a.r.t. station remains closed for maintenance and repair work. this video shows crews working to rebuild the track and installing other equipment. no trains will run between 19th street and fruitvale stations

night. fires burned at least 40 acres so far. no injuries have been reported. fire officials do not have an estimated time of containment. >> and right now, people being let back into their neighborhoods in the l.a. area after that massive wildfire burning there. we just got word here at the live desk of these new developments. some great news. firefighters have been able to slow down that huge fire. it is the biggest wildfire by acreage in the city's history. it's burned more than nine square miles. governor jerry brown has issued a state of emergency. cooler temperatures across the state should also help in that fight today. natasha. >> thank you. firefighters in northern california are getting a big boost from a big plane. the world's newest and largest air tanker. the global supertanker is currently parked at mcclellan field in sacramento county. formerly a 747 airliner, it brings a payload nearly twice as

much as any other air tanker. >> 18,000 gallons out to the fire and get it out to the fire, where it might take six trips to do that. >> he said 18,000 gallons. this giant tackled its first mission in the u.s. last week. tackling the raging 3500 acre ponderosa fire near oroville as fires continue to rage across the state, calfire says it's another great resource to call on. >> a man died after running into the fire during one of the signature moments at burning man. you're looking at video showing saturday night's burning of a massive effigy. the 41-year-old died after being flown to a burn center in sacramento. festival organizers offered emotional support counselling to those affected by the tragedy. look at that. oh, my god. >> look at this crazy sight in santa barbara. a microburst rolled through the

city around 3:00 yesterday afternoon. it flooded roads, sent umbrellas flying and overturned boats. 56 people were tossed into the water. thankfully, no reports of injuries. >> crazy video. let's get to mike nicco. the question on everyone's minds, are we going to get some relief? >> yeah, we will. we won't see a repeat of what they saw in santa barbara. we could have the possibility or do have the possibility of a slight shower chance here and there. a chance of a shower. you can see the radar doesn't look all that impressive. that's what's left of what was tropical storm lydia. it continues rolling up to the northwest. that's why even though it's not going to be quite as hot today, it's going to be muggy out there, and you're definitely going to feel that. so all right, let's talk about what's going on as far as our forecast. you can see the haze hanging out at 101 and 880 there in san jose. yeah, looks kind of disgusting, doesn't it? partly sunny, mieltder, poor air, and humid today.

slight chance of showers, lightning. it would increase the fire danger if there was a great chance of it. we'll keep an eye on it. if it does become a better chance, we may see the fire dangers heightened in the afternoon hours today and tomorrow. slow cooling trend for most of this week. let's take a look at your highs today. 85 in milpitas. sunnyvale, cupertino, san jose. may be 90 in morgan hill and gilroy. redwood city at 86. low 70s along the coast today. mid and upper 70s in downtown, south san francisco, sausalito. mid 70s, north bay beaches. mid to upper 80s through most of the north bay. we'll get 90s around calistoga, cloverdale, and lakeport. low to mid 90s there. temperatures in the low to mid 80s from 80 in richmond, oakland at about 82. you can see castro valley at 86. still holding on to the 90s in our east bay valleys. 90 in san ramon to 92 in brentwood.

that will feel a lot better. why did i do yard work yesterday? that was not smart. well, because my sprinkler system broke. that's why. part of the reason. it had to change a pump yesterday, half my yard dies the last couple days. mid to upper 60s tonight. sleep better. antioch, 75. and san jose, 71. here's a look at your seven-day forecast. it's just couple degrees every day, but by the time we get to wednesday in the morning the marine layer clouds come back and when we'll start to see the cooling trend kick in for thursday, friday, and saturday. i lost -- i think i probably lost about four blueberry bushes because my one zone wasn't working. i didn't know about it until this weekend. >> my yard's been brown for like a month now. so it's really crispy now after this weekend. my roses, they're like crispy on the ends. they just got torched this weekend. yeah. >> too bad. >> i know. so sad. taking a look at the roads this morning, we have green traveling conditions just about anywhere you look today. that's due to the labor day

holiday. pretty sure we'll have an extremely light morning on the road. northbound 101 after university avenue, i told you about concrete that fell from the overpass. sounds like there was a crash on university, so over 101, someone hit the guardrail, a few concrete chunks fell, and chp is saying everything is okay. the structural integrity is just fine for the overpass, and chp picked up the chunkoffs concrete that was our 101. that's no longer a concern. it is a spare the air day, but we have changed for mass transit due to the holidays. no ace rail service this morning. caltrain will be on a sunday schedule, and golden gate ferry, on a holiday schedule, except there will not be the tiburon ferry service today. the proposal to let women go topless in public. an east bay city toying with the idea. >> a crash caught on camera. the reason this suv went barreling through a laundromat.

the city of berkeley will consider legalizing letting women go topless in public. public nudity discrimnace against women because there aren't the same restrictions against men. city council will take up the issue in next tuesday's meeting. if changed, the change would go into effect as soon as next month. >> on thursday, facebook users will have access to hundreds of videos. launching the new program called watch. vis is video of the new feature from facebook. you'll find it and soon there will be its own app, too.
