they came here overnight they're looking for homes for them. they're among money who landed here in the bay area. >> hurricane harvey hit our house with these two little ones. >> these two six-week-old puppies were given up by their owners at a shelter on the day hurricane harvey hit. the shelter then flooded. now, tom and jerry are living temporarily in oakland with the cole family. >> i hope that people don't go crazy blaming the people of texas for giving up their animals. this is not something that anyone wants to do. it's just what they have to do. >> you can't stay in a hotel with animals, you can't stay at your aunt's place. the one room apartment. >> the milo foundation and mad dog rescue have taken in 26 of the 54 dogs flown in overnight. most are already in foster homes and are ready for adoption.

spare the air alert for tomor w tomorrow. abc 7 weather anchor spencer christian has a look at conditions outside. and tells us when we can expect an improvement in the air quality. the air quality was unhealthful tomorrow as you look at the tuesday column. we'll see moderate air quality across the entire region. it's -- the cooling continues today from the recent heat wave. you can see the 24 temperature change showing most bay area locations right now, 8 degrees to 21 degrees cooler than they were at this hour yesterday. we're going to have sunnier skies, lower temperatures and cleaner air all in my 7-day forecast coming up shortly. ama. firefighters in pleasant hill took extra precautions in the heat today as they fought a fire at a condo complex.

a few pets possibly didn't survive firefighters were able to contain the fire to one unit and were prepared for today's heat. >> everyone knows the high heat has been terrible. we cautioned our crews. we have a working unit. they do get started so quick. >> investigators are looking into reports that a propane tank blew. it's unclear how many are affected by the fire. >> hundreds of evacuees are back in their homes in southern california. the latuna fire is no longer actively burning. it broke out friday, it's charred more than 2,000 acres and destroyed at least three homes. we also just learned in the last hour that eight people were hurt, four of them firefighters at its peak, more than 700 residents in burbank and glendale were ordered out of their homes. the cause of this fire is

unknown. >> the san jose department just deployed a crew. it erupted north of fresno. the fire had burned into the sierra national forest. the suspect collided with her black bmw at the mill valley offramp from 101. witnesses say the accident could have been much worse. >> everyone was concerned, they were wondering if we were okay. they said it was horrible they were wondering we were okay. everyone kept saying we were really lucky. >> both cars have significant damage. there are no reports of any serious injuries. witnesses say the suspect was taken into custody at the scene. it's unclear why he led police

on a chase 37. >> this labor day, thousands of people who say they're living on the edge of poverty came out to rally for better working conditions. fast food employees, janitors and child care workers were in the crowd. deneen joins us now live from san jose at a popular business where they protested. janine? >> we're here at a mcdonald's, mcdonald's is not unionized. a lot of the employees we spoke to today say they are thinking about joining. they want to start a union to improve their pay and benefits. >> what do we want? >> benefits. >> when do we want it? >> now. >> they work in the silicon valley, like this mother of three who's a manager at mcdonald's. >> i'm in a shelter right now, because i don't have enough money, enough hours. >> she and hundreds of other mcdonald's workers want to unionize. they wore red shirts with the words fight for 15. the minimum wage needs to be raised to $15 an hour sooner.
