new york meteorologist sandhya patel is tracking irma and where she is right now. >> this is one powerful storm, one of the strongest in the atlantic. live doppler 7 showing you where it is located. it passed to the north of san juan, puerto rico. look at the eye on this storm. it is a monster. it is going to pass north of hispanola, currently packing 185 per hour maximum winds. storm surge will be a problem along with flooding. expect to hit the turks and caicos as a cat five, weakening agency it crosses the bahamas saturday. by sunday possibly making landfall across florida sunday evening and continuing to weaken to a category two by monday evening. this is one of the most dangerous, but hurricane jose not far behind, threatening the leeward islands and hurricane

got a phone call late last night. >> the four rescue boats and two zodiacs never made it back to the oakland warehouse. the shelves are already empty because the equipment has been sent out. >> it is definitely uncommon to have this quick of a turn around. >> reporter: more than 50 other task force members fly out tomorrow. they will stage in alabama until receiving mission order, enfazed by receiving back-to-back deployments. >> there's a sense of honor and we're honored to be able to help people. >> reporter: firefighters come from 18 different agencies and there are civilian members. >> one of the great things about having that many agencies involved is that the impact on any one agency is minimal. >> reporter: pg&e is sending 100 people tomorrow morning to help restore power in florida. the coast guard's 129th rescue wing also will deploy like they did during harvey. katie utehs reporting, "abc 7 news" and just about 45 minutes

ago thereafteris air force's air mobility wing tweeted its team will fly to st. croix within 12 hours to support relief effort there. >> look closely at the screen shot from flight radar 24. delta flight 302 was the last airplane to leave san juan's airport before it shut down. what a flight it must have been, flying in between bands of a devastating hurricane. delta says the flight was completely safe, with the pilots working in tandem with dispatchers and airline meteorologists to chart the flight plan. remember, you can download the "abc 7 news" app and enable push alerts for up to the minute information on hurricane irma the recent record-setting hot weather in san francisco is being blamed for three deaths now. the medical examiner's office says the victims all were in their 80s and 90s and found alone inside their homes. no 911 calls were made by them asking for help. san francisco hit 106 degrees last friday, setting an all-time record high. during the heat wave, the

city's 911 system received more than 2400 calls for help, doubling the average volume. that overwhelmed city ambulances and slowed response times to more than 10 minutes for life-threatening call also and 17-minutes for non-life-threatening call also. mutual aid was called in from sacramento. >> jerry downs was struck by his own vehicle in farng lot of ingrid b. lacy middle school where downs was the band director. "abc 7 news" reporter lilian kim is live in pacifica with this story. lilian. >> reporter: ama, the accident happened in this parking lot during school hours. paramedics tried to revive mr. downs but he was ultimately pronounced dead at the hospital. there are now flowers at the parking lot where teacher jerry downs was hit by his own vehicle. pacifica police say it somehow roll away before it struck and killed him. school staff was shocked when they heard what happened.

>> basically he -- his car crushed him or his van ran him over, something. he was trying to stop it or something. >> reporter: downs was the band director at ingrid b. lacy middle school and ocean shore elementary, a position he held for 15 years. >> i was like, i want to be that guy or something. >> reporter: students looked up to him and parents admired him for his passion for music and devotion to the students. >> he spent so much time after school with the kids. he did competition, marching band, concert band, he did drum line. he spent an awful lot of his personal time. >> reporter: and if students didn't have the money, downs would never hesitate to help. >> whatever they needed, you know, for marching band, whatever instruments, he would buy instruments, he would buy uniforms, he would buy shoes. he was a generous guy. >> reporter: a formal announcement of downs' death will be made to the students during home room. extra counsellors will be brought in. in pacific, lilian kim, "abc 7 news." authorities are searching for two inmates who walked away

nevada and it has been going on all afternoon and evening. obviously a fire danger heading towards tomorrow and we see more of that, but that tropical moisture is keeping us on the muggy side. humid in some areas. you will notice the dew points are in the low 60s from oakland to san jose right now. but that tropical moisture did provide a treat in the sky from our emeryville camera. look at the sunset. is that spectacular or what? you see the high level cloeds, the fog down below. we are just going to keep you entertained with some beautiful sunsets because this one was equally gorgeous from our south bay camera here. sun went down at 7:31 and there was a nice burst of color as the sun was setting. the clouds were rolling in. it was a cooler day today. we're going to keep the cooling trend going as we head towards tomorrow, and that tropical moisture may actually bring us more than just clouds tomorrow. here is a look at the amount of moisture we might see in oakland. light showers are possible. could see up to a couple hundreds of an inch of rain. yeah, you heard right.

from that tropical storm lidia, that was once tropical storm lidia. a live look from emeryville camera. the marine layer is back but humidity not down yet so it doesn't feel cooler. temperatures are mild to warm, really in the 60s and 70s across the bay area. a live look from the south bay camera, visibility is good. chance of showers and thunder in the morning, losing the humidity on friday and it will be a warmer pattern this weekend. here is your morning commute planner. if you are driving, use caution. there will be some slippery spots if those showers materialize. muggy and cloudy if taking the ferry across the bay. a few drops are possible. if you're walking, take the umbrella with you to be on the safe side. 11:00 tonight we have the cloud cover around. head into about 4:00 a.m., could see a few spotty, light showers developing. light at 5:00 a.m. commute time you will notice around 7:00 a.m., can't rule out a few showers around here. 8:00 a.m. could be slippery taking your kids off to school or taking yourself to work. that threat remains around 11:00

a barking dog got attention of police in pleasanton. officers found this poor girl. if you look closely you see that lucy has her head stuck in a house vent. her body was trapped inside the house. now, this actually happened during our heat wave. a neighbor grew concerned after hearing constant barking and contact police. firefighters were able to open the wall enough just to get lucy out. >> oh, poor thing. >> i know. >> lulsy is okay though. >> yeah. >> on to sports. >> larry beil. >> all right. two giant records were set tonight as genuine panic set in in colorado. it was a great thi
