impressive to hear and then also rain came down. so quite a show. so unusual for this area and this time of year. now, all of this lightning did cause some problems. we have power outages to report to you this morning, these are the very latest numbers just in from pg & e. the biggest problem on the peninsula and south bay. peninsula 565 people without power, san jose and the south bay 400 people, san francisco a lot of people in the dark there as well, over 500 customers there without light. so worried some alarm clocks won't be going off this morning, hopefully that power will be coming on again very soon, but a total of 1,872 customers no power, but an impressive light show outside last night. reporting live at sfo, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. you're covering problems it was also a long night for giants fans because of all of this. after two weather delays their series opener against the dodgers at at&t park ended at

2:11 in the morning just a couple hours ago. the first pitch was delayed 42 minutes because the lightning storm started before the scheduled start time. the second delay lasted nearly three hours with the game resuming just before 11:00 last night. in the end it may have worked in our favor, the giants beat l.a. 8-6, the dodgers have lost 11 straight games. >> late night for so many people and a lot of folks were outside watching the lightning. a man in alameda says he saw the moment a lightning bolt hit. >> a lot of unusual thunder, i have never heard anything like that before, actually it was right over here, it was iridescent with all these cool different colors, wasn't your stereotypical light lightning bolt, it was really cool. >> we'd like to thank carlos and all of our viewers for sharing their videos and incredible photos of the lightning display across the area. to check out all of the emergencies go to our website testify it posted. will we see more lightning

today? let's get a quick update on weather and traffic where you live. >> we will take a look at what we have as far as the doppler radar. i think we're going to be all clear through the morning hours. there may be a sprinkle here or there, but for the most part you will see it looks a lot cleaner than it did this time yesterday as far as the cloud cover goes. so let me show you what we're dealing with temperaturewise as far as compared to 24 hours ago. yeah, that cooler weather we talked about, there it is. as we head into the afternoon hours we're going to have temperatures in the 60s, 70s and just a few 80s. so the heat is over for now. it's going to come back to the forecast and so will another chance of thunderstorms. i will have that coming up in just a few minutes. here is alexis. >> we are off to a fairly quiet start on the roads this morning. here is a look at walnut creek, southbound 680 no brake lights yet, everybody cruising along just fine. i know it was terrible morning getting out of the central valley yesterday, about 4:45 we

had a collision and they were not able to clear that for almost two hours. today nothing blocking and we are still in the green. actually just flipped over to the yellow but it's not terrible, 33 minutes for you on westbound 580. southbound 680 about 15 and northbound 85 you are looking good at just about 16 minutes. we do have an issue with a sign down on suit route 237 in the south bay, we will check on that next. today utility crews were spread out across the entire state of florida working to restore power to customers impacted by mihurricane irma. >> more than 7 million homes and businesses in three states are without power this morning after the storm rammed into the keys and south florida. here is abc's stephanie ramos with more. >> reporter: hurricane irma weakening to a tropical storm but not before zeroing in on another target, jacksonville, florida. there is record setting flooding in jacksonville, business owner adam schafer returning to his office to find it under water.

>> jacksonville is a beautiful place and we're really bummed to see this happen. >> reporter: from north florida to the south, irma first making landfall in the keys as a category 4 hurricane and it was relentless. we're now getting a look at the damage from the air. boats grounded, cars buried, homes are destroyed. >> you know, you come home and you see this, it's devastating. it's devastating. >> my heart goes out to the people in the keys. i mean, it's -- there's devastation. >> reporter: the raging storm blasting rain in orlando and devastating marco island. >> we have no electric, we have no water on the island, so we're encouraging people if you don't have to come back right now, don't. >> reporter: today millions of people across florida are without power as utility crews work non-stop to get the state up and running again. >> i don't see the power coming on anytime soon with all the flooding. >> reporter: irma got to almost every inch of the state but many floridians say they feel lucky

that they avoided epic flooding, especially here in south florida. stephanie ramos, abc news, miami. search and rescue crews from the bay area are surveying the damage in florida. the 129th rescue wing left moffett field on friday. four of their aircraft are helping crews on the ground get a better view of the storm's destruction. at the live desk we've been focusing on irma the past few days as we get that new video in throughout the morning. right now just moments ago we got this video of people helping the survivors of hurricane harvey in texas. many displaced families still living in shelters there so a las vegas group is actually stepping in to help there. this is absolute exhibits, it partnered with a lumber company to build beds out of donated wood and yesterday they cut, sanded, pieced together hundreds of bed frames. the beds will be delivered to the houston children's charity. the group has collected comforters, toys and backpacks

for those kids. so nice to see some of that video coming in. >> it's 4:35. happening today the santa clara county board of supervisors will consider providing thousands of dollars to help daca residents. that program would help with renewal applications, entrepreneurship training and behavioral health services. daca protests -- rather protect hundreds of thousands of young people brought here illegally as children from deportation. santa clara county is home to 24,000 daca recipients. after weeks of negotiations california's sanctuary state bill is headed to the assembly for approval. changes were made to the bill after governor brown said he would not sign previous versions. the bill would give federal immigration agents access to law enforcement databases, it would also allow local police to hold someone for federal authorities if they have been convicted of a serious or violent crime. happens today a ant matteo

county supervisor will make crossing a street while looking down at your phone a crime. they say distracted driving is already illegal so it makes sense to ban distracted walking. only the state can govern what's legal on roads so they want to consider a pedestrian ban. today berkeley city leaders will consider an ordinance that would allow women to be topless in public. backers call it a matter of gender equality. they say men can roam around berkeley city streets shirtless. however, the proposed change applies only to public streets, private businesses could still refuse service to people not wearing shirts or shoes. san jose police need your help to end into the suspects who robbed an elderly woman last month. surveillance video captured the robbery on story road. police say the suspect approached the woman and ripped her purse from her after a violent struggle. the suspect got into a four-door nissan.

the victim had minor injuries but is okay. anyone with information is asked to contact san jose police. and this bank robbery suspect and her partner are behind bars this morning. sonoma police are thanking the public. they say alert citizens helped track down katrina who can knee and miguel maravia. the two were wanted for a previous robbery attempt in n a napa. witnesses saw their van and alerted police who arrested the duo. i will show you what's going on with what's left of irma. you can see the system continues unwinding, effect more and more people but as it affects more and more people the intensity of that affect is less and less. there is no flash flood watches, no warnings, nothing really out right now as you can see a lot of green out there, but not a lot of yellows and oranges until you get over towards places like the outer banks of north carolina around wilmington, you can see some of the stronger storms right there. you can see them wrapping around all the way back to jackson, mississippi. thunderstorms, you can see those developing over the peninsula of

florida but definitely much quieter weather there. just check ahead, there may be a few airports have some issues today like memphis and possibly cincinnati. here is a look at temperatures, 63 at west portal to about 69 in the financial. yeah, again, warmer than average out there. it's 59 in american canyon for the cool spot the rest of us in the mid to upper 60s until you get to fairfield low to mid 70s. on the roads it's going to be dry this morning as far as heading out mass transit mild to warm and light breezes if you are going to be on the bay. temperatures 70s and 80s. your accuweather seven-day forecast and another look at the thunderstorms still ahead of us coming up. so far pretty quiet this morning, minor issue in the south bay, state route 237 the first street on ramp to westbound 237 we have a street sign down, sounds like a vehicle hit that and that is laying across the lanes. we do have san jose pd on the way to the scene and that

lilian kim. >> reporter: his name is narudo a crested black ma cav from indonesia. he became internationally famous through selfies. 25% of future revenue from the photos will go to organizations dedicated to protecting his habitat and species. the settlement was reached by peta, the people for the ethical treatment of animals, david slater the british photographer and blurb.com. >> this was a ground breaking case that firmly establishes that animal rights to ingrained in the legal system here in the u.s. and internationally. >> monkey see, monkey sue will not due do in federal court. >> the settlement ends a two year legal battle which most recently was argued before the ninth circuit court of appeals in san francisco. now that they've settled the parties involved say that this case raises cutting edge issues about expanding legal rights for nonhuman animals.

and it is. i think it will be a little quieter today, not as much moisture in the air and energy. it will be partly cloudy today. as long as we get warm sunshine and humidity storms will be possible today and tomorrow. fall to seasonal highs on the way, we have a little bit of a roller coaster the next seven days. there is the area of low pressure churning off our coast. yesterday's activity well up to the north but also notice around los angeles and over towards lake havasu there is not that secondary plume coming up like we saw yesterday and that's the one that really set us off. i think the timing as we go through it you can see most of the day today the storms are going to be up in the sierra, but as we get towards 5:00 there will be a few isolated storms to our south that will roll towards our north during the evening hours. it really looks like as we get near midnight through tomorrow morning that's when we have the best chance of the energy and the moisture hooking up and this time tomorrow we could be dealing with scattered showers and thunderstorms through the entire commute wednesday and

really it did not seem too wet when i drove in today. westbound 80 the off ramp to pinole valley road we did have a crash early this morning. that is fully off to the shoulder and chp is saying no residual delays in the area. drive sometimes still looking pretty good, westbound 580 in the yellow 46 minutes, northbound 101 in the green at 11 and northbound 280 you are wide open still in the green at just nine minutes. alexis, thank you. san francisco parking meters could soon still surge pricing at peak hours, a parking meter policy would expand the sf park pilot program to meters throughout the city. prices range from 50 cents to $88 an hour depending on the meter's location and the time. proponents say surge pricing helps free up places faster. the program could be expanded by the end of the year. hollywood is turning san

safety and went back and got the man. the tide moved in quickly and trapped them in the cave. there was nowhere to hide from the wet ocean wind gusts. >> hold on to the cliff as much as you could, but it was was so strong it was almost blowing us out. >> once on dry ground the man went back to thank his rescuers. the pair said they had just a few bumps and bruises. >> wow. we're glad they're okay. your shopping experience at nordstrom could drastically change. the california nordstrom store is opening up that will not have any clothing, listen to this, instead customers can shop online inside the store, pick out online orders there. the store is named nordstrom local and the first one will open in west hollywood in three weeks. it will offer personal stylists, tourists, manicurists and a beverage service and be a lot smaller. >> why would you online shop inside of a store where you have to drive to versus just on line
