trump is now saying that's not true. the president tweeted just after 3:00 a.m., no deal was made last night on daca. massive border security would have to be agreed to in exchange for consent. would be subject to vote. house minority leader nancy pelosi and senate minority leader chuck schumer announced the deal last night after the dinner with the president and they said it would provide protection for 800,000 d.r.e.a.m.ers brought to the country illegally as children. it would provide money for increased border security but not a border wall. it seems they all need to get on the same page. >> a lot going on news wise. what's happening traffic and weatherwise with mike. >> we'll start with live doppler 7. you can see the gray. those are low clouds. the marine layer is back and a touch of fall in the forecast the next day or so. no thunderstorms like we had yesterday. a look from our camera where you may need windshield wipers a bit. temperatures running from about 60 to 63.

we'll be sunny by soon. 62 by the coast. upper 60s for bay and inland neighborhoods. 74 around the bay. here's alexis. a crash just happened east of eden canyon of this is a sig alert. all lanes are currently blocked right now. we're already seeing a backup that started off with the disabled semi sitting in lane number three. then it turned into a crash. it sounds like one vehicle is pinned in between those two semis at this point so three vehicles involved. again, no one is getting by. you saw traffic maps change to the purple and that means a full closure of the highway. this is likely going to be a major problem if you are coming in from the central tri-valley this morning. we'll talk about alternates in a few minutes. >> alexis, thank you. a bay area mcdonald's employee is scheduled to enter a plea on attempted murder charges. she's accused of giving a

birth during her shift and trying to kill her newborn in the bathroom. police arrested 25-year-old sarah lockner on chestnut and main streets. lockner told investigators she didn't know she was pregnant. officials say her co-workers called 911. >> i need another enggyn here and an ambulance dispatch. some code 3. we still got to take care of the mother. the baby is being transported to stanford. >> when police got there the baby was not breathing and didn't have a pulse. now the baby is said to be surviving on her own but her neurological prognosis is not being known. she's being held on $11 million bail. parents who cannot care for their newborns and choose to take to state surrender sites will not face prosecution. hospitals and fire stations serve as places where parents can leave newborns. we have more information on abc 7 news.com. happening today a lawsuit

expected to be filed against b.a.r.t. in connection with the takeover robbery we told but in april. you probably remember this story on april 22nd 50 to 60 teenage swarmed a train at the coliseum station robbing passengers. four people victimized in the violence are now part of this lawsuit. two more people who were robbed in two separate incidents have also joined the suit. new developments, the state assembly approved a plan to raise the area bridge tolls by up to $3. the bill heads to the senate. if approved and signed by the governor the proposal would be on the ballot in june or november of next year. jim bell tells our partner "the mercury news," more than 600,000 vehicles enter and exit the bay area on any given weekday. he says that number will only grow. the money raised would pay for improvements to reduce congestion bridge corridors and would cost weekday commuters as many as $700 more every year.

today president trump will visit parts of florida to get a firsthand look at the damage following irma. the death toll there continues to climb in the u.s. at least 31 dead across florida, georgia, and south carolina. nearly 2.7 million customers remain without power this morning in florida, and i will be watching for updates throughout the morning. meanwhile, the national guard has set up five centers in the florida keys to distribute supplies. abc news report er >> reporter: it may be a week before power is restored in florida and the situation becomes increasingly complex. in the punishing temperatures of southern florida authorities are concerned about a growing problem following hurricane irma, the deadly heat. >> the elderly are having a tough time with heat. we also have infants that also are experiencing some

overheating. >> reporter: while utility crews race to restore power to millions, the heat and lack of air conditioning is believed to be responsible for at least eight deaths yesterday at the hollywood, florida, nursing home. but with millions of seniors in the affected area the problem is more widespread. >> there's a gentleman who needed insulin -- i mean, ice for his insulin and things like that. >> reporter: essentials are in critical supply. >> we finally got something. we need help down here, please, everybody, come help us. >> reporter: especially in the keys where fema says 90% of homes were damaged or destroyed. residents describe ongoing shortages of water, food, and medical supplies. president trump will be in naples and ft. myers today surveying the damage. launa zak, abc news, washington. pg&e crews are helping restore power there. piles of transformers and stacks of wiring they have ready to go to replace equipment damaged. it can be dangerous work.

check out what they spotted. an alligator sitting very still and quietly in the water there. it's something they do not % usually encounter here in california. this could be a huge change at delores park. beer and wine bottles could soon be banned at san francisco parks. the city's board of supervisors will debate the plan next week the result of the persistent trashing of delores park. the committee signed off on the proposed ordinance yesterday scrapping a plan that would create a fine of up to $1,000 for littering in delores park. critics say that would unfairly penalize low-income residents. an alert citizen is being credited with helping police arrest the suspect in an attack on a woman. the person called police after seeing a photo of 36-year-old sherry. the tip led officers to her. investigators said she hit and kicked a 67-year-old woman walking. the attack apparently was unprovoked. the victim is expected to be okay. residents of almeida point

can use water from taps to shower and bathe again but shouldn't drink it. officials lifted the bathing restriction. homeowners are warned to let the water run for ten minutes to flush out all the pipes. officials are waiting for more tests before they'll say if it's safe to drink. east bay thinks it was contaminated from a leak. unfortunately, we are starting off with a really serious trash in the tri-valley. westbound 580 just before you get to eden canyon road, a sig alert, a crash involving two semis and a smaller vehicle, and that has all lanes blocked right now so you can see that red. that is already backing up. we did talk to chp a couple minutes ago. it sounds like that vehicle, the one that's not a semi, is pinned in between the two trucks. someone is trapped in there so they have to extricate them. sounds like major injuries involved as well. i'm expecting a long-term

a photo of the textbook on facebook. now we have to say this, turner wasn't convicted or even charged with rape. he was convicted of sexual assault last year and released from jail after serving three months of a six-month jail sentence. he moved back to his home state of ohio where he had to register as a sex offender. an almeida county judge tossed out charges. according to the troncal the judge said there's not enough evidence to show brian bunton obstructed justice and engaged in prostitution. he was one of the officers charged after encounters with jasmine buslin. they agreed to pay her $1 million to settle a lawsuit. she has filed similar claims against other police departments. focus on social media and two local companies in particular. according to bloomberg robert mueller's prosecutors and fbi agents are zeroing in on how russia spread fake and damaging

information through twitter and facebook. the news comes a week after facebook shut down about 470 accounts it says are run from russia. the senate intelligence committee is considering a public hearing on russia's news and social media to manipulate voters. a bill aimed at cutting the backlog of testing rape kits is heading to governor brown. the measure would allow californians to donate part of their personal income tax returns to help local governments pay for the testing. it's an issue the abc 7 news i-team has reported on extensively. a state audit found as many as 1,900 rape kits sat untested across the state last year. cyclists are demanding more be done to keep them safe on the roads on mt. diablo. bikes and cars share the park's steep and winding roads. they've been the scene of many serious accidents. new warning signs and striping were put in place about a year ago but cyclist who is ride the mountain tell abc 7 news those

safety measures haven't changed the behaviors of drivers. >> on the blind curve coming up on their side a guy went around four cyclists into my lane. >> unfortunately the double yellow lines and signs haven't made a huge amount of difference from what i've seen. people still seem to pass where they want to. >> some cyclists admit they need to do more to practice safety as well. on the way down the mountain our news van was passed three times by cyclists veering over the double yellow line, once on a blind curve. drivers are doing just fine after a scary encount wer a tree. the tree came down on two cars on clement street near 38th avenue yesterday. branches and pieces of the tree trapped a person in his porsche. he patiently waited as firefighters had to use a chainsaw to free him. the man was shaken up by the ordeal but otherwise was just fine. >> they chainsawed me out. i was really stuck. here i am. >> he says it was his lucky day

considering the other car was crushed by the tree. a bill headed to governor brown's desk would secure parental leave for workers and small businesses across california. it would ensure them up to 12 weeks of unpaid leave to care for their new child. it applies to parents who have been on the job for at least a year and to businesses with 29 to 50 employees. companies with more than 50 workers are already covered by existing law. the bill's sponsor says 40% of small business workers are at risk of losing their jobs when they want to take time off to care for a new child. opponents say small businesses can't afford to lose workers. it's 4:46 now. alexis smith is tracking a crash for us. what's the update? this is a major problem in the castro valley area. westbound 580 just before you get to eden canyon road, this is a sig alert. a crash involving two semis and a smaller vehicle, and they are still working to get someone out of the smaller vehicle that is pinned between both semis. sounds like serious injuries

san francisco. hosting the career fair for management sales and retail. companies registered include new york life, state farm and the united states postal service. the job fair is from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the san francisco marriott on mission street. a new report says type 2 diabetes can be controlled simply by losing weight. researchers looked at recent clinical trials and went from 2011 found diabetics were able to return blood sugar levels to normal when they lost weight. a study from 2016 found people actually reversed their diabetes by losing 33 pounds or more. researchers say a person's likelihood of remission is greatest in the first five years after being diagnosed and they say there's an opportunity to focus first on weight loss treatment rather than medication. two san jose residents are being rewarded for unleashing they modified the drone to clean up graffiti.
