woman for hurting herself during the protest after the speech thursday night. that's now how she sees it. lisa amin gulezian is live in the newsroom to explain. you spoke with her? >> reporter: that's right. she suffered a minor concussion and bloody lip thursday night after she says she was attacked by violent left wing protesters. but that's not what police say happened. we have video of the incident which we showed her today. this is video from sky 7 on telegraph avenue and this is celeste paradise. paradise was holding this sign when someone snatched it from her. we highlighted and zoomed in on the moment the women runs away with the sign. you can see paradise chases her and suddenly falls. >> i was not simply pushed.

i was thrown down. >> reporter: she swears at least two people hurt her. she says they tossed her on the ground so hard she had a mild concussion. but this is what police posted on twitter about it. she fell, she wasn't pushed, no fight, these are the facts. no one from the department would comment today but paradise is outraged by the statement. >> i know what i felt and there were people yelling and saying we will f you up and all this stuff. >> reporter: here is the video again, you can see paradise running to the crowd and falling. jose was there. though he didn't see what happened, he does think the police are purposefully downplaying the incident. >> i think their attempt was they wanted to prove they could have a no-incident event. >> reporter: and there was also a social media rumor that paradise had been stabbed in the

neck. she and the police department have debunked that claim. live in the newsroom, lisa amin gulezian, abc 7 news. the cal student group hosting speakers this month has not paid a security deposit or confirmed event details. the patriot organization turned in a contract to hold the free speech week but never put down the deposit as required for security purposes. the event is planned for a week from tomorrow. the group has time to pay up and confirm schedules and comply with security requirements. rescue crews from the bay area who helped after hurricane irma are now back home. [ cheers and applause ] abc 7 news was at oakland international airport a half hour ago where a round of applause greeted team members from task force 4. the team assisted with the

rescue and recovery in the florida keys, one of the areas hardest hit by the powerful hurricane. >> the focused searches on demolished or damaged buildings, boats washed up on shore. checking to make sure there is no victims in any of the houses or boats and doing wellness checks, evacuations as necessary for people in homes that waited out the storm. >> task force 3 will return tomorrow. a brent woodley family feels like they are being held hostage in their own home by birds by the dozens. but they are protected by state environmental law. the situation is turning into a serious health concern. >> reporter: at first glance this brentwood family is living a normal life. but an undesirable and unusual situation is impacting their

logic don't mix. this is -- this is insane. >> reporter: the city plans to contact state fish and wildlife officials and hope to figure out a plan to handle the problem. >> not a band-aid approach but we need to fix it. >> reporter: winter is around the corner. the birds will likely leave be. you the family is worried about what they'll have to endure before the unwanted visitors finally decide to fly away. in brentwood, lonnie rivera, abc 7 news. police are looking for a man who robbed a see's candy store in petaluma. the robber pulled a gun, demanded money and took off with an undisclosed amount. he is in his 50s. the governor is expected to sign a bill into law that would make california a sanctuary state. yesterday the assembly approved the bill and the senate followed

suit. the california values act limits local law enforcement cooperation and prohibits police from asking about immigration status. the bill will put communities at risk. california has an estimated 2.7 million undocumented immigrants. supporters of immigration reform are celebrating the california values act but they say it doesn't go far enough to protect d.r.e.a.m.ers in california. the deadline for daca renewals is three weeks away. >> reporter: people carrying handmade signs with messages rallied in oakland this afternoon. even though california is set to be the first sanctuary state. some are not satisfied. >> it takes the movement to make that happen, not the politicians. >> reporter: tanya organized the rally today. >> we're not going to allow the immigration police to come in. >> reporter: alejandro has grown up fearing any interaction with

who died during the epidemic. hemophilia keeps the blood from clotting and requires transfusions. when the epidemic first hit more than half of the nation's hemophiliac's died because of contaminated blood. this was an extra special prom night for hundreds of teenagers in the east bay, the celebration wasn't put on by their school but by the hospital treating them for serious and chronic illnesses. >> prom! >> it was everything you've come to expect from prom night, hanging out with friends. music and dancing and photos to help remember it all. it may look like the prom we've all experienced but it's not. >> all of us have been through so much and we understand what we go through in hospitals. and some of us haven't been to

hair and makeup styling and red carpet treatment. a thousand volunteers came to ocean beach to clean up. the trash clean up spread in san francisco all the way to candle stick. a woeks woman from the golden gate national recreational area says that people are usually good about picking up their stuff but that's not enough. >> we collect debris that washes ashore from the pacific ocean. based on the statics today we will be able to identify what kind of trash is out here and how that is affecting our habitat. >> with 80% of the cleanup sites reporting, 534,000 pounds were picked up. if you're coming to san francisco this morning on the bay bridge you may have been surprised to find it closed, and here's why.

caltrans imploezed another marine foundation of the old eastern span around 10:00 this morning. this was the second of this fall's six scheduled implosions for the demolition of the remaining foundations. caltrans will finish by the second weekend in november. the south bay turned into a mass of fur, wagging tails and barks. abc 7 news was at san jose bark in the park. it's billed as the largest dog festival in the country. there is plenty to do from wearing glasses, one man brought his dog and twinned to enjoy the fun. >> they're used to our dogs. there are tiny dogs and huge dogs. everywhere they turn their eyes light up. >> the money raised will benefit

it could have been a tragic truck ride for this koala bear but it has a happy ending the driver heard it cry out ten miles into his drive and he found the koala in the wheel well. rescuers were worried thinking nothing could survive a trip like that without injury. but the koala had minor bumps and bruises and was released after a few days of rest. that is a lucky bear.

the bay area greeted by loved ones. they searched for survivors in the wreckage of the florida keys. some of the members will be home midweek. a brentwood family wants help getting rid of birds in their backyard that have nested. they are protected by state law. the mayor plans to contact the state to figure out a solution. one night after arresting 33 people during a protest in st. louis, police were clashing with demonstrators tonight. they were marching against the acquittal of a white former police officers who killed a black man. several people were detained. u2 cancelled a concert there because the police could not provide security. this was not the only protest around the country tonight. ♪ >> reporter: a second night of protests in st. louis, a day

after a judge acquitted a white former police officer in the fatal shooting of a black man. earlier on saturday, several hundred demonstrators marched through two st. louis shopping malls. the noisy but peaceful rallies a dangero different story from the previous night. >> the vast majority of the demonstrators were peaceful. however, after dark, the agitators outnumbered the peaceful demonstrators. >> reporter: police arrested 33 people, 11 officers were treated for injuries but have since been released from the hospital. in dallas, protesters marched around the empty base where a statue of confederate general robert e. lee used to stand. >> this is wrong. >> reporter: the statue was removed thursday and is in storage until a decision is made on what to do to it.
