good morning, everyone. thank you for joining us, i'm carol carolyn. let's go to frances dinglasan here this morning. the satellite image is showing clouds coming in from the coast and the peninsula coast and parts of the bay and north bay. and visibility has been reduced to a half mile right now in santa rosa and pet temperatures in the 50s. napa, 48 degrees. here's how the day plays out with the 12-hour planner. we are dealing with low clouds and temperatures in the 50s. but lots of sunshine by lunchtime. and bright this afternoon with inland temperatures reaching 84 degrees. around the bay, it will hit 74

degrees. and along the coast, 64 degrees. sun sets at 7:14. enjoy the beautiful day before blustery conditions move in on monday. carolyn? thank you, frances. this morning a woman is injured after the ben shapiro speech at uc berkeley. says she was attacked by violent left-wing protesters. they agree about the accounts on a stabbing were false, but this morning she claims something else happened. abc 7 news reporters show us the incident caught on camera. >> i don't know anyone could see this and not see there's an altercation. >> reporter: this is what happened on telegraph avenue and this is celeste paradise looking at the video for the first time. it was after ben shapiro finished his speech at duller bach hall. and paradise who is a republican was holding this sign when someone snatched it from her. we have highlighted it and

zoomed in on the moment when the woman runs away with the sign. paradise chases her and suddenly falls. >> i was not simply pushed but grabbed and thrown down. >> reporter: paradise says two people hurt her. they tossed her on the ground so hard she had a mild concussion. but this is what berkeley police posted on twitter about it. she fell and wasn't pushed. no fight. that is what she told us at the scene. these are the actual facts. no one would comment but paradise is outraged by the statement. >> they don't have to say that i tripped because i know what i felt and people were yelling at me to say, we will eff you up and all this stuff. >> reporter: here's the video where paradise is running into the crowd and then falling. jose ornelis was also there. though he didn't think what happened, he does think the police are purposefully downplaying the incident. >> i think their attempt was they wanted to prove they could have a no-incident event.

>> the cal student hosting a series of conservative speakers later this month has not paid the required security deposit or confirmed details. the berkeley patriot organization turned into a contract to hold the so-called free speech week, but a school spokesperson says the group has not put down the deposit as required in the contract for security purposes. that four-day event is planned to start a week from today. the university says the group still has time to pay up, confirm schedules and speakers and comply with security requirements. rescue crews from the bay area who helped the response after hurricane irma are now back home. [ cheers and applause ] abc 7 news was at oakland international airport where a round of applause greeted members from task force 4.

loved ones giving them hugs and kisses. the team assisted with rescue and recovery in the florida keys. one of the areas hit hard by the powerful hurricane. >> wide area searches and focus searches on demolished or damaged buildings, boats that might be washed up onshore, checking to make sure that there's no victims in any of the houses or boats, earn then also doing wellness checks, evacuations as necessary for people in homes that waited out the storm. >> task force 3 based out of menlo park is scheduled to return today at noon. more pets rescued from flood zones in houston will land in the bay area today. 30 cats and 44 dogs are being flown into the hayward airport this afternoon. they will be taken to the san francisco spca and the milo foundation in richmond. mad dog rescue organized the evacuation. you're watching video from a previous animal rescue effort in houston. the bay area has cared for

hundreds of pets after hurricanes harvey and irma. this morning a brentwood family feels like they are being held hostage in their own home. and they are blaming some unusual visitors, birds by the dozens. the catch is these birds are protected by state environmental laws. abc 7 news loni rivera shows us a serious health concern. >> reporter: at first glance this brentwood family seems to be living a normal life in suburbia. but an unusual and undesirable situation is impacting their every day life. >> dead carcasses, the fish, the eggs, the stench. >> reporter: the backyard is lined with bird feathers left behind by a flock of herons that have nest in this tree since march. >> they make noise nonstop. and then flying from the tree

onto our roof. >> reporter: danielle says they have become prisoners on their property. after contacting city officials, they learned the birds are protected by law and their nests cannot be touched. >> this is a hazardous environment. no one should be forced to live in this type of situation. it's not for me, my husband, but more so for our children. >> reporter: the sidewalk here is actually where kids walk to school. the problem has gotten out of hand there's waste all over the sidewalk, the fence and the tree trunk. >> reporter: the city says they are doing all they can and there's nothing that can be done. >> reporter: brentwood's mayor is concerned about the potential health risk. >> this is where bureaucracy and logic don't mix. this is insane. >> reporter: mayor taylor says the city plans to contact state fish and wildlife officials. they hope how figure out the plan to handle the problem. >> not a band-aid approach but we need to fix it. >> reporter: winter is right around the corner so the birds

likely will leave, be through family is worry ied before the unwanted visitors finally decide to fly away. >> this morning police are looking for a man who robbed a see's candy store in petaluma. the robber pulled a gun from his backpack, demanded money and took off with an undisclosed amount. he's in his 50s wearing a button down blue shirt, blue jeans, blue hat and green backpack. the governor is expected to sign a bill into law to become a-sanctuary act. it prohibits police and

sheriff'ses officers from asking about the immigration status. california has an amount of 2.6 million undocumented immigrants. and celebrating the california values act, yet they say it does not go far enough to protect dreamers living in california. the deadline for daca renewals is less than three weeks away. abc 7 has this story. >> reporter: people are rallying in oakland even though california is set to become the first sanctuary state. some in attendance are not satisfied. >> i take the movement to make that happen, not the politicians. >> reporter: i was going to look at the interaction with authorities. the california values act gives

well, the wine house looking into the climate treaty deal. the top news agency in paris reported that the white house no longer wants to renegotiate. however, the white house issued a statement in response saying there's been no change. and the unless we can do more to help our country. and fall starts this week. >> it starts on friday, but we are on track for another pleasant day. here's a pretty shot as we look from the roof camera out t we'll have blustery conditions coming our way tomorrow and escaping their troubles for a night.

abc 7 was in san francisco watching them climb the vertical hill as you can see. cyclists put themselves through the torture of the red bull climb. this happened between 18th and southern heights avenue. a cycling apparel company covered all the female entry fees in order to support and promote female athletes in cycling. the aids memorial grove has a new addition honoring hemophiliacs who died during the aids epidemic. loved ones laid flowers in their honor. hemophilia is a genetic condition that keeps the blood from clotting that requires transfusions and when the aids epidemic first hit, more than half of the nation's hemophiliacs die because of a contaminated blood supply. advocates hope the hemophilia memorial circle will also pay tribute to those who worked tirelessly to fix that problem and make sure it never happened again.

it was an extra-special prom night for hundreds of teenagers in the east bay. the celebration was not put on by their school but rather by the hospital. treating them for serious and chronic illnesses. abc 7 news anchor eric thomas has the story. >> reporter: it was everything you've come to expect from prom night. hanging out with friends, music and dancing and photos to help remember it all. it may look like the prom we have all experienced but it's not. >> all of us have been through so much. and i feel like we all understand what we go through in hospitals. and some of us haven't even been to prom. so we're all going to enjoy it. >> reporter: this is the third year that kaiser permanente has put on their pediatric prom. this year 300 kids too sick to attend their school celebration were able to come here instead. >> i didn't go to my junior prom last year. so i didn't have a birthday party last year, is i'm doing it

all, prom and birthday, right now. >> for some of the kids they are still going through their chronic hardship and illness, so it's a time off for some of them. >> reporter: more than 1,000 employees have come to the oakland medical center to help out. >> it elevates the entire program and uplifts everybody who works with the kids day in and day out. >>er the theme of the pediatric prom is an evening in hollywood. >> for people that didn't get to go to their prom, they get to come here if they feel good enough. and they get to have the experience. >> reporter: eric thomas, abc 7 news. >> the teens were treated for food, soft drinks, professional hair and makeup styling and the red carpet treatment. 1,000 volunteers came to ocean beach in san francisco not to swim but to clie yesterday was the 33rd annual coastal trash cleanup day.

a spokesperson from the national recreation area said people are usually pretty good about picking up their stuff but it's not enough. >> the problem with some of the beaches is we collect debris that washes ashore from the pacific ocean. so based on the statistics we're picking up today, we'll be able to identify how the fish are affecting the habitat. >> reporter: with 80% of the cleanup if you came to the to the tt bridge yesterday, you may have found it closed for a period of time. here's why. caltrans imploded yet another

marine foundation of the bay bridge's old eastern span that happened around 1:00 yesterday morning. you know how empty the upper deck was, this was the second of the sixth they hope to finish by the first week in november. and it is your chance to be active in the city of san jose. the parks and recreation services will close seven mimes of city streets so you can walk, bike, skate and play. it is part of the diva calle celebration between japantown and lake huntington park. there is well. it will be a great day to do anything outdoors.

clouds come in. here are the conditions along the coast. they will continue throughout the day tomorrow. so we've got breezy conditions, especially along the coast and in the upper elevations. so during the next seven days, here's an example how things play out. in san jose, the average high is 72. today, 79. the cold front blows through and we'll be below average throughout the workweek. then we'll pick back up on saturday. so here's the accuweather seven-day forecast, enjoy the summer-like sunday with a sunny afternoon inland. numbers are the warmest spots in the mid-80s. at the coast, the mid-60s. the breeze picks up, the cold front moves tomorrow with temperatures dropping by about 5 to 6 degrees in the bay area. and at the coast, we'll be dropping a little bit as well.

people and 11 officers were treated for injuries and released from the hospital. in dallas, protesters marched around the empty base where a statue of confederate general robert e. lee used to stand. >> this is wrong and we have to reverse this. >> reporter: the statue was removed thursday and is now in storage until a decision is made on what to do with it. the statue was also the site of the heritage not hate rally in richmond, virginia. demonstrators there defending confederate monuments. elizabeth herr, abc news, new york. developing news, london police say a second man has now been arrested in connection with the subway bombing. police say a 21-year-old man was arrested. and an 18-year-old man was taken into custody last night. the homemade device contained nails and a highly unstable chemical compound that has been use in terrorist attacks from

move in overnight into tomorrow morning. the areas of light green we could see drizzle along the coast and into parts of the east bay during the morning commute hours, 5:00 to 9:00, even 10:00 with extra cloud cover. so we could see some slick roads for the morning commute. notice how the clouds quickly push through. and that is because of this cold front that will bring us some blustery conditions. you can see the wind forecast animation also expected to be 30 miles per hour along the north bay coast. anywhere from 20 to 30 all around the bay area. so it will be especially gusty in the higher elevations. the kids will need a jacket for tomorrow. and here is a look at the tropical atlantic current conditions. so many things going on, we have hurricane jose, tropical storm maria and tropical storm lee. now, we're going to focus on jose heading up the east coast over the next few days. it is currently moving at 80 miles an hour. but by tuesday, it will still be category level 1 as it makes its way to new york, moving at about

next to the sharon building robin williams meadow. williams was a long-time bay area resident and would often perform at the comedy festival and was even a secret financial benefactor. the ceremony begins around 3:30 this afternoon. and how will the weather be? we'll get a final check with frances. >> it will be sunny in that area. we usually see fog near the golden gate park, but not today. right now temperatures in the 50s and 60s. san francisco, 58. oakland, 60. san jose, 60 degrees. this afternoon with plenty of sunshine for everybody, temperatures will be near yesterday's numbers, just a few degrees cooler. san francisco, 67. oakland, 71. san jose, 79. and warm spots inland, 85 degrees. so a sunny afternoon today with very nice and comfortable temperatures. but then tomorrow, the breeze picks up. it will be gusty along the coast and in the higher elevations. and we're going to dip down
