station. >> reporter: well, eric, that victim told me this is the most scared she has ever been in her entire life. she did not immediately hand over her things because she had to catch a flight today. without over wallet and i.d. and credit card she would have a hard time getting out of town. here's a picture of the note that she got on the b.a.r.t. train yesterday. this is julie dragland from oakland. she posted this on her twitter account. she says she was on a b.a.r.t. train just before 5:00 when someone sat behind her and dropped this on her lap. it says, there are two guns pointed at you now. it demands her cell phone and wallet. it says do not turn around until after you have civic center. she faked a seizure to make a scene. s mysterious robber got off the train after all the commotion. she did not see that commotion but does remember a suspicious woman wheeling a suitcase past her seat. >> i started, like, slumped over

to the left and started, like, shaking and people started to notice and they were, like, are you okay? there was a couple next to me and then a woman behind them that came over. and kind of caused a commotion. and then the person got off at the next stop. >> reporter: b.a.r.t. is taking this matter very seriously. spokes woman says something like this has never happened before. she responded to the tweets late last night and said i call the watch commander to make sure they were aware. they have the train number and can pull the footage to i.d. the suspect. they said they would have to take that train out of circulation and then download the video and she does not think they'll be even able to see the video until tomorrow at the earliest. reporting live in san francisco, abc 7 news. >> thank you. in developing news, the caribbean battered by storms now facing another hurricane.

watching. also we have hurricane jose. very close to the eastern seaboard before doing a right hand hook. tropical storms are up from delaware to the kaecape. back here at home, much quiet and cooler air about to move in. we'll detail that in a few minutes. 90% of the pow ner in flori has been restored. the florida keys finally reopened. they've warned people you return at your own risk. crews are clearing out debris and restoring essential services. victor is in the keys with more. >> reporter: for so many residents of the florida keys, the journey home really begins when they pass those final check points. and even though they've been warned. >> the keys are not what you left several days ago when you evacuated. >> reporter: nothing can prepare someone for this. homes and neighborhoods destroyed. this is your first time back here? >> first time back. it's a strange feeling.

this is my dream house. i built it. i design today and had it built. >> reporter: this is kind of what's left of it right now. >> we were there with dean madison as he returned to his house in cudjoe key where hurricane irma made landfall. >> it's heart breaking. >> he had to search for his boats which end up hundreds of yards away on a neighbor's dock. it's been a slow process to get the keys reopened. irma's category four winds and storm surge so powerful, but they haven't been able to fully gauge the damage. reassessing the roads took time forcing evacuees to wait in trapping the people who chose to stay and ride out the storm. >> we should have evacuated but we thought we would be okay. i'm sorry. >> recovery will be slow. search and rescue teams are still on the ground searching for any victims. as crews work overtime trying to

clear debris. hundreds of thousands of floridians still without power which means no air conditioning and for many no clean drinking water. >> bring your supplies. bring your water. be self-sufficient. >> abc news. key west, florida. he will heroes from the urban search and rescue task force arrived back in the bay area after spending the last week providing hurricane relief. the team drove across country 5,000 miles from florida back to their base. they said the tough dangerous job of rescuing victims -- >> seeing they were sharing their concerns about their homes. that was interesting. it was kind of touching. >> the task force was deployed to florida almost immediately after other team members had returned from houston, texas, where they were helping hurricane harvey victims. today dozens of pets were forced out of their shelters

because of hurricane harvey arrived here in the bay area. now they need good homes. abc 7 news reporter tiffany wilson is live in hayward executive airport with their story. >> reporter: all of those cats and dogs that landed here a little more than an hour ago have left the airport. they are now on their way to go get baths and some food and to stretch their legs out. the organizers who chartered this flight said they need to do about ten more chartered flights to respect relief the overcrowding in houston. >> this present plane is full of very important passengers. 33 dogs. 30 cats. each a survivor of hurricane harvey. >> there's a huge problem now that 80,000 people lost their homes. a lot of pet owners don't have a home to take their pet to. >> by bringing shelter animals to the bay area, space opens up for displaced family pets. it's a lesson learned from hurricane katrina.

>> only 15% of all pets got reunited because they were shipping them all over. people couldn't find them. >> the cats and dogs will find new permanent homes in the bay area thanks in part to groups like the milo foundation. >> we have people that had katrina dogs. they say we're here to adopt harvey animals because we know they really need a place. >> reporter: families fill out adoption forms at the bay area pet fair today. >> we're very happy. especially for kids. they want a dog in the house. >> reporter: some of the hurricane rescues near pretty rough shape, but lynn says that hasn't stopped families from falling in love. >> probably half of the first load of animals from harvey went to foster homes that are failed fos ters because they're actually adopting their dog. >> reporter: the pet fair arg ni organizers say there's many great cats and dogs in need. >> they're not secondhand animals. they are good animals who found

themselves in the wrong situation. our goal here is to get them in the write situation. >> reporter: and in the right home. in hayward, tiffany wilson, abc 7 news. rj bay area marines have pitched in to help a fellow service member who was targeted by thieves last month. we first told you about the u-haul belonging to a marine sergeant that contained all his family personal belongings and it was stolen in santa rosa where he had recently relocated. former and active duty marines heard about his loss and raised money to help them out. today they presented a $10,000 check to the sergeant. >> some things money can't buy, but it will help us replace the necessities and be able to live a comfortable life. >> the stolen property is still missing. no arrests have been made. governor jerry brown has a month to sign new legislation just approved by state lawmakers although he's already got out the pen. coming up, bills he signed into law this week.

does more to protect undoum undocumented immigrants from deportation. other bills on his desk include three pieces of legislation aimed at developing more affordable housing. another bill would force presidenti presidential candidates to hand over five years of tax returns. the governor did sign some new legislation. a bill sets aside $1.2 billion for climate change spending which includes clean auto incentives. a new bill makes it illegal to have an open container of pot in a vehicle and another new law will allow medical and rec recreational distributors to be operated from a single store. you might have been one that volunteered to make the beaches and parks cleaner. many picked up trash at ocean beach in san francisco. 146,000 tons of debris was collected during yesterday's coastal cleanup day statewide. in marin county volunteers picked up about four tons.

temperature rise we're running about five to six degrees below normal. 72 right now in san jose. about 67 that current number in oakland. 73 in ne vad doe. live doppler 7 along with satellite. this is what we're tracking in the next 24 hours. have nice clear skies over much of northern california. but you look to the border around oregon, medford. you see a cold front that is going to ink sink to the south, brink back the cloud cover. clear skies early on. the clouds will start to bubble influence after midnight. 61 the overnight low in rich mon. about 62 in palo alto. 62 overnight in san jose. you see future weather picking up on those pockets of drizzle as that cold front moves through. hour by hour we go on future weather. watch the time stamp. 8:00 on your monday morning. the clouds move back into play.

perhaps some coastal drizzle. even a spot shower in points to the north. really the first half of your monday will feature gray sky and that chance of drizzle close to the coast. by the afternoon and into the early evening, that cold front will begin to move out of here. we'll start seeing peaks of sunshine. a little cooler tomorrow than we were today. 69 the high in richmond. about 74 the high in fremont. 77 in san jose. about 75 in santa rosa. concord up to 80 degrees with some afternoon sunshine which you'll notice tomorrow evening as well, the wind will pick up just a little bit. future tracker wind gusts show monday by 6:00 in the evening estimates winds from 10 to 20 miles per hour out of the north bringing in that cooler air. along the coast could likely see some gusts closer to 30 miles per hour. i just want to fast forward into wednesday on future weather. we're tracking a chance of a couple of showers early wednesday morning. future weather by 4:00.
