declared bankruptcy. the country's largest toy store chain has been purchased by online retailers and is deeply in debt. those are some of our top stories on this tuesday, september 19th. from abc news, this is "world news now." >> good morning, everybody. we're going to start this half hour with the main event at the united nations general assembly, president trump taking the stage before a gathering of world leaders for the first time. >> the president is expected to call out north korea and iran for their destabilizing actions and expected to outline his america-first ideology to the global audience, but on day one, the focus was on u.n. reform. erielle reshef has more. >> reporter: president trump spending his monday at the united nations, with rapid fire meetings on the sidelines of the general assembly. during his debut at the diplomatic epicenter, the commander in chief pushing for reform.

>> reporter: and conducting joint military exercises with south korea, trump working through the evening, a rigorous agenda for world leaders even called speed dating from hell. president trump discussed venezuela and north korea. all of this happening ahead of his major speech here. and protesters in san francisco shouted down nancy pelosi as she called for the passage of the d.r.e.a.m. act to protect young immigrants. the crowd was angry that pelosi and senate minute leader chuck schumer met with president trump last week. they said all should be given legal status, not just those brought to the u.s. as children. they became so disruptive that pelosi left the event. but she said she understood their fears. >> you know, the president says make america great again. what his people hear, "make america white again." they want to deport these 11 million people and we're fighting that fight. they're fighting that fight.

how we get them on a path to legalization and citizenship is a part of that fight. but we're stopping, stopping that. >> pelosi and schumer said they struck a deal with the president on the d.r.e.a.m.ers, but the white house later said nothing was finalized. senate republicans are racing against the clock in a final push to repeal obamacare. the new bill would replace much of the affordable care act with block grants to states, giving them broad leeway on how the money should be spent. it would also raise coverage requirements and obamacare mandates. in addition to the uphill battle of getting enough senators on board, the legislation only has a two-week window to pass. and the senate has approved a $700 billion bill to fund the military. it expands u.s. missile defenses in response to growing hostilities from north korea, and it blocks the closure of any military base. the house has already passed its own version of the defense bill. that bill must be reconciled with the new senate version before it is sent to the president. and we are keeping a close

to a category 3, we hope, going into the bam hams. then there's jose, still posing a problem with heavy seas, rough surf, coastal flooding along the east coast. >> thanks to paul williams there. and now to atlanta where at least three people were arrested after clashes with police at the georgia tech campus. >> a police vehicle was burned when a group of protesters approached at school's police department. that follows the shooting death of 21-year-old scout schultz late saturday night. police say they opened fire when schultz refused to put down a knife and kept advancing on officers. a family attorney says schultz was having a breakdown and was suicidal. a large group of protesters gathered in front of the st. louis jail. they were demanding the release of protesters who were arrested over the weekend. four nights of protests have been held following the acquittal of the officer charged with the death of a black man. and it was an emotional day for students at a high school

near spokane, washington. a high school sophomore allegedly gunned down another student and wounded others last week. our court records indicate the search of the suspect's home found a yearbook with the faces of students x'd out. it's not clear if any of the photos were those of the victims. there were boxes of ammunition discovered. british investigators have been given a few more days to the bombing suspects. two young men are in custody, although neither has been charged yet. both are from the middle east and both in a strange twist have lived at the same foster home in london. police are searching that house. more than 30 people in that friday morning rush hour blast. and the u.s. navy has fired two more top officers after several major accidents this year in the pacific. in total, six senior commanders have now been removed, including the vice admiral who led the pacific fleet. the chief of naval operations and navy secretary will both testify before congress today about those accidents.

in total, 17 sails died during those incidents. millions of people may have been affected by the hack of a popular computer optimizing software. the maker of ccleaner says ransom ware or key loggers were placed in its downloads. the malware was delivered by a hack server. more than 130 million people use ccleaner. the parent company, avast, says it was able to stop the threat before any harm was done. all right. well, fall doesn't come our way until friday. but apparently, in some parts, it is already ski season. >> wow, too soon. so, here's the evidence. shot by a former pro skier near lake tahoe, making his way down a hail-covered road with his puppy, strapped on for the ride. >> so the dog's name is tinder. they said the hail caught tinder's attention, so they decided to strap her on and go down the road. let her take it all in. >> i think she'll be all set when the season actually comes about, which for lake tahoe will probably be saturday.
