numbers 3 to 5 degrees warmer than yesterday. carolyn? lisa, thank you. from football to basketball and now baseball, pro athletes are taking a stand against president trump. oakland a's catcher bruce maxwell said it was a decision that was a long time coming. he knelt during "the national anthem" yesterday after the president blasted nfl players for doing the same thing. maxwell is the first major league baseball player to join the protest. he said mr. trump's rhetoric on twitter took the movement to a whole new level. yesterday the catcher tweeted, inequality is being displayed bigger than ever right now as our president shows that freedom of protest and speech is not allowed. maxwell talked to the media after yesterday's game. >> this was the right thing for me to do personally, just from the endeavors that i've been through myself and from where i'm from and the people that i d do know that are victims of

you can enable push alerts to be the first to know about that situation and all breaking news. and a wind-driven brush fire north of vacaville caused considerable damage destroying two homes and several other structures. the vacaville fire department posted this short video on twitter with flames breaking out on the edge of the subdivision and john wayne. and firefighters are making quick work of a brush fire on san rafael hill beginning just after 4:00 yesterday afternoon. firefighters held it to less than two acres. the winds are helping to push a vegetation fire to 12 acres before firefighters shut it down. that happened at 11:30 yesterday morning on the landfill property near the silverado trail. no structures were threatened. one life was injured and

mid-80s. it will be warmer by 5 desreeg . 82 in pleasanton. 83 in san ramon. we have that in rea churning in the atlantic. it continues to weaken but we'll be feeling impacts along the east coast. this is still a category 2 of 110 miles per hour moving to the north. you can see it paralleling the coast. anywhere from the carolinas to the the dangerous swells and rip currents. and looking at this to take that right turn we are gaining 2 to 3 degrees each and every day. the warmth increases. and by wednesday and thursday, we're in the 90s inland. 80s at the coast. the upper 80s by the bay. and the heat tries to back off, but nothing significant. so very dangerous out there with the dry conditions.

there. we'll warm quicker today than yesterday. the atmosphere is dryer and that means lower relative humidity. unfortunately, we have north/northeast winds to worry about. so the national weather service has continued the red flag warning for the north bay hills above a thousand feet right on through tuesday. here we are looking at concord with average highs in the 80s. we'll be in the mid-80s today. that's the coolest day out of the next seven. then look what happens, we are climbing about ten degrees by tuesday and wednesday. we'll eventually cool off, but really still above average when we do cool off. but as we look outside, you'll see that it's nice and clear and calm right now from emeryville. but we're not going to see any fog form. in fact, any wind that we do see is not going to be the good kind because that just moves that dry, dry brush around. so live doppler 7 is showing the clear conditions. a pretty vantage point from mount tam as we look at the sun coming up before 7:00. sun setting at 7:02. numbers up slowly in san
