>> reporter: here's the view from sky 7 of the affected area. they did lift that evacuation order so everyone got to sleep in their homes, and it looks like the active emergency part of this is over. firefighters are even going to take a breath and give a briefing to the media at 8:30 this morning. they are worried about today's weather and the red flag alert. that's why we see the firefighters here on sky view drive. they're not ready to walk away from this one quite yet. live in oakland, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. a group of bay area firefighters are helping to fight a wildfire threatening homes there. the alameda fire department tweeted this out, getting briefed yesterday. the canyon fire scorched 2,000 acres near corona. at least 1,500 people are evacuated and the fire is only 15% contained this morning.

>> it is 4:30. we'll start with drew. that red flag moment, this is still in effect. the areas in concern the north bay hills and the east bay hills, the same area where we had that active fire yesterday. this is lasting until 5:00 today. it's the combination of gusty winds and low humidity. that means any fires that start can spread very quickly. highs today, look at this. widespread 80s and 90s. another warm to hot day on the way. take it easy out there later on this afternoon. a check on the roads with alexis. a live look at the south bay. so 101 and 880, no delays as you would expect this early hour and our drive times looking good this morning as well. just some slight delays. westbound 580 tracy into dublin in the yellow about 36. southbound 680 dublin to mission 15 minutes. 101 to cupertino in the green.

we'll check on mass transit up next. for now the 10:00 week night curfew stays at levi stadium. cold play just days away from a concert there. >> last night the santa clara city council made no changes to the curfew but voted in favor of reaching out to neighbors who live nearby. katie marzullo has the story. he has a right to his comments. >> reporter: raised voices, even hissing from the audience, and that was just over a procedural matter. with the ed sheeran concert already canceled and cold play on deck next week the santa clara city council got heated over the week night curfew at levi stadium. >> one concert can pay for, i don't know, three, four, five police officers, new officers. the same for firefighters. >> maybe it won't have that much impact if we did it on the weekend. >> reporter: stadium operations called it politics saying the ed

sheeran concert could have generated money and more losses are coming. >> there are three or four shows we're trying to book for next year that are in the hopper that could fall on a weekday. if this doesn't pass at any time you can kiss those good-bye, too. >> and that was katie marzullo report. levi has asked for a one or two hour extension a few times a year. u2 and beyonce broke the curfew this year. moving on to recreational marijuana becoming legal on january 1st but this morning it's not clear if san francisco will allow businesses to start selling cannabis on that date. the city won't issue permits to sell recreational marijuana until it passes new laws to regulate the industry, and that may not happen by january 1st. the city also wants to create what it calls an equity program to make sure low-income individuals and people of color are eligible for permits. it's 4:33 now and palo alto

unified school district superintendent is resigning. our media partner "the mercury news" reports glenn "max" mcgee will call it quits friday following a closed door meeting earlier this month to re-evaluate his performance. he was criticized after a union contract error and during his tenure the school district has faced a number of sexual assaults and harassment cases. happening today the two men charged in december's oakland deadly ghost ship fire are expected to plead not guilty to cork. derick almena and harris face 36 counts of involuntary manslaughter. a judge refused to throw out charges against the two men. their corners accuse prosecutors of having a weak case. happening today president trump and republicans in congress will be unveiling and pushing their new tax plan. the plan will likely slash the tax rate for the wealthiest americans to 35%. they want to reduce the corporate tax rate and collapse the seven existing personal income tax brackets into three. overall they want to cut taxes by $5 trillion over ten years

and make up for those losses by eliminating tax breaks. they're not specifying what will be cut. >> the trump administration is setting a flotilla of ships to aid in recovery efforts following the devastation caused by hurricane maria. president trump himself will travel to the u.s. territory next week. >> it's the most difficult job because it's on the island, it's on an island in the middle of the ocean. it's out in the ocean. you can't just drive your truckses there from other states. >> more than three million people in puerto rico are without electrical power and short of food and water. fema says only 11 of 69 hospitals in that u.s. territory have power and cell service is out on 95% of the island. more than 11,000 people are still in shelters. president trump said the u.s. has shipped massive amounts of food and supplies and more is on the way. a member of california tax force three out of menlo park have been in puerto rico much longer than expected, still

there helping with the relief effort. he was originally deployed as part after fema support team for hurricane irma. he was scheduled to come home but then maria hit. he was keep helping on the ground until more reinforcements arrive. and in accuweather today talking about another warm to hot day across the entire region and then we'll gradually get relief towards the end of the week. live doppler 7, one of the ingredients you need for a warm to hot day, clear skies. and that's what we have right now from the active scan. current numbers 50s and 60s the name of the game early on this morning. about 66, though, in san jose. 61 that current number in brentwood and good morning, checking on the temperature of 55 degrees. showing you quickly warming into the 70s and 80s by noon today and more warming will continue and into the afternoon our warmest spots will go into the 90s. not only the heat, it's the humidity that will also cause some concern. by the afternoon it is very dry

4:40 and we're back. one of marin's most iconic structures is getting a roof lift. sky 7 was over the blue roof on the civic center right near where i grew up. the board of supervisors awarded an $18 million contract to a novato-based company to replace the roof. legendary architect frank lloyd wright designed the structure. it will be painted marin blue, the same as now. a bridge was closed in april after engineers noticed the land below its pillars slipping and the structure separated in places. crews will be working seven days a way to bring it down. moraga city planners say a temporary one-lane bridge will go up, open by mid-november, costing $2 million. oakland mayor libby schaaf is

pushing a plan to move the homeless into safety, urging to approve the first outdoor navigation center. it would help move about 40 people from encampments into temporary shelter. the site would feature portable living structures and access to wraparound social services. an outspoken conservative who was suspended from alabama supreme court twice has won the republican primary for the senate seat left open by sessions. moore defeated luther strange who has the support of president trump. in 2003 justice moore was suspended for refuse to go remove the ten commandments interest a courthouse. suspended again last year for defying federal orders over same-sex marriage. this morning president trump is congratulating him on his win tweeting this message, spoke to roy moore of alabama last knit for the first time. sounds like a really great guy who ran a fantastic race. he will help to make america great again. >> this sight will soon be more common in saudi arabia. the nation says it's lifting a ban on women driving by june of

misconception about what is being protested exactly. he wlebelieves some joined the reaction as a reaction to donald trump rather than supporting social justice. directv is now allowing fans who were upset by the national anthem protests to cancel their nfl sunday ticket package. that's according to our sister network espn. they have to say they want to cancel because of the protest, so that's interesting. subscribers usually cannot cancel their subscriptions once the season starts. at&t who owns directv decided to change the policy due to the sensitivity of the issue. it allows fans to watch out of market games. apple is trouble shooting an audio problem with the iphone 8. some notice a crackling sound while making calls or face timing. apple tells business insider a fix will be available in a future update. the iphone 8 went on sale a few days ago. over to drew tuma with a

check of weather. another toasty day on tap? >> too hot, drew. i cannot sleep with this mess of temperatures. >> 88 in san francisco. that's like terrible sleeping weather for everybody in the city. no ac. but today will be the final day of this very warm to hot spell. after today we'll begin to cool off. we have to get through the next 24 hours of live doppler 7 along with satellite, clear skies. temperature wise we're sitting in the 50s and in the 60s. good morning hayward. we're at 52 half moon bay. 64 the current number in vallejo. highs today no matter where you are, a warm day. 80s and 90s. even 80s along the coast for half moon bay. it is a spare the air day especially inland. the air quality will be poor and we do have high fire danger. what that means not only the heat we're worried about but the low humidity levels. by 2:00 this afternoon we have bone-dry humidity levels in the north bay and the east bay.

it means any fires under these conditions can easily start and spread. the timing is 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. in the evening. that's the heightened time when the winds are breezy and the humidity is at its lowest. the accuweather seven-day forecast. warm to hot today. cooling begins thursday along the coast and then everybody by friday will feel widespread relief. we're back to average and right now the outlook looks for saturday, sunday, monday and tuesday temperatures settling back down to where we should be for this time. one more day of the heat. >> boo. >> i don't think anybody likes this weather pattern. >> i know. i'm ready for the more fall like temperatures but i know this is typical for us in october. taking a look at the roads today we are off to a fairly quiet start. one issue to talk about and that is in the east bay. so we're not quite sure what the debris is yet but we know it's causing a lot of flat tires just past high street. we don't have any lanes blocked but chp is on the scene and it sounds like five drivers got
