we just got an update. they estimate it could renope about an hour, at 5:00 p.m. of course, that's too late for the afternoon commute. a very tense day out here on the freeway. motorists took cover when a gun battle began between police and the gunman on interstate 80. >> a bunch of gunshots. i don't know how much. >> he was over the stand-off. a man driving a black suv refusing to surrender. police say the suspect was wanted for a homicide in fairfield. authorities spotted his car this morning and the chase was on. the richmond police and the chp assisted, trying to get the driver to stop. a spike strip was placed in the road. >> after we spike that vehicle, it collided with the concrete barrier. >> the car they were chasing started to lose, it had a flat tire so it was starting to lose

other side of the bridge, in san francisco, the transit bus leaves the road and plows into a sidewalk. jonathan bloom is live at the scene with a look behind. you can see exactly what happened. >> reporter: that's the bus lind me that was out of control earlier today. people who watched it happen say they're amazed more people weren't hurt. they say they don't know why the driver of that ac transit express bus lost control shortly after exiting the bay bridge and hit three other vehicles before it came to rest. >> i heard a loud crashing sound. before my eye, i saw this bus and it looked like it was about to film over. >> chad was among the dozens who saw what happened and ran over to help as passengers poured out of the emergency exits. >> the driver was unconscious but came to later. >> police say that driver was one of five people taken to the

san francisco's mclaren park this morning, sky 7 on the scene. a small grass fire, and then soon after that, firefighters got a second call between the cities' excelsior district. and then they got a third call. these fires burned about three acres. it back to an hour and a half to contain them all. firefighters believe they've identified the area where the grass fire started yesterday. fire officials told abc7 news, they've isolated a construction zone. it burned 28 acres total but no homes were damaged. about 100 homeowners were told to evacuating. >> and crews are making great progress against a fire burning near corona southeast of los angeles. the fire broke out on monday. now 20% contained. the flames charred 2,000 acres, damaged three structures. officials say that's a huge
