a fourth member of president trump's cabinet is under scrutiny for high priced travel. >> this time it's interior secretary ryan zinke accused of using private planes and military jets that cost tax payers $12,000. lana zak joins us from washington d.c. lana, good morning. >> good morning. happy friday. president trump says he's not happy with reports that some of his cabinet secretaries are spending excess amounts of tax payer funds on private jets. now the house oversight committee is demanding answers asking all 24 agencies to account for travel since inauguration. >> reporter: this morning health and human services secretary tom price's job is on the line. the president on msnbc made no defense after a string of health care reform defeats. price is adding a new embarrassment to the white house excessive luxury flights at the

expense of the american tax payer. last night price tried to defend his 26 private charter flights on fox news. >> my respect for the tax payer is as strong as it can be. there will be no private air charters at hhs going forward. >> reporter: even calling for an investigation of his own controversy. >> i called for an internal review within the department itself. >> reporter: tax payers spent more than $400,000 on those flights now following the public outrage price said he'll reimburse the cost of his own seat around $51,000. it's not just price. treasury secretary steven mnuchin was the first cabinet member to be called out for taking costly government jets like to kentucky with his wife where they viewed the eclipse. epa director scott pruitt facing questions about $58,000 worth of flights on chartered jet and government planes. now ryan zinke is being added to

the list for private flights he took to his hometown and two caribbean islands. republican senator chuck grassley said he plans to hold the white house responsible asking the president to detail what steps the administration has taken to insure cabinet secretaries use fiscally responsible travel in accordance with the public trust they hold. >> now adding to secretary price's travel woes politico is reporting an additional half million in military flights internationally. that's not necessarily wrong, but he now has to defend spending more than $1 million of tax payer funds to those investigators. >> thanks, lana. >> in the meantime the white house has reportedly launched an internal investigation into the use of private e-mail by top officials in the administration. politico reports jared kushner and ivanka trump's use of private e-mails for government businesses are the focus of interest. a spokesperson did not respond to our request for comment. >> president trump is calling

the tax reform plan a once in a generation opportunity insisting the middle class, not wealthy, will benefit. he said rich americans like himself would pay more under his plan. the president hasn't released recent tax returns but using his 2005 return and the bloomberg estimate of his wealth the "new york times" said the proposed repeal of the estate tax could save the trump family more than $1 billion. >> hundreds of people arrested and new immigration rates targeting so called sanctuary cities. i.c.e. agents arrested nearly 400 people and nearly 200 in california. the operation targeted cities that deny officers access to suspected off fenders. >> an army general headed to puerto rico along with several thousand more troops to boost hurricane relief effort. containers full of supplies sitting in port undelivered

head, helmet to helmet hit while he was trying to catch a pass. he was taken off the field on a stretcher. he gave the thumbs up. he's in the hospital now. >> back in washington a u.s. senator is criticizing twitter accusing the company of ignoring evidence of fake russian accounts. twitter said it identified about 200 accounts linked to russian propaganda. one company spent at least $274,000 on adds in swing states. senator mark warner said twitter's briefing to congress was very disappointing and only raises more questions. this morning carmax the country's largest seller of used cars responding to a new report claiming the company is selling unsafe cars. a consumer watchdog found one out of every four cars has an unrepaired defect. that's been the subject of a safety recall. the company says it reviews all recall information with customers before any purchase.

person shot. they found a man in an apartment here. he was taken to the hospital where he died. now officers are investigating what exactly took place. they have their mobile crime unit on the scene and have officers with tape out making sure nobody goes into this area as they do their investigation this morning. police say they have no suspects at this time. they have not arrested anybody. they're still investigating early this morning. this is a long investigation. it happened at 8:40 last night. s the fact they're still investigating out here about eight hours later is a big deal considering that this person was shot here on the scene at 8:40 last night. they're going to continue to investigate. they don't have a time line yet on when they're going to be clearing out the scene for this apartment complex, but a lot of people will be coming out seeing what's going on early this morning. so a big deal for this area in north san jose which is very tech heavy. a lot of businesses as well. reporting live, matt keller, abc 7 news. matt, thank you. also from our live desk this

morning investigators are trying to determine what sparked a house fire on the peninsula. started just after 10:30 last night on crompton road in the lower hills of redwood city. officials say flames were coming out of every single window when firefighters arrived at the scene. neighbors told crews that everybody was out of the house. it took firefighters about 1:10 to get the flames under control. nobody was hurt. it is 4:30. if you're just joining us a quick update on weather and traffic. we'll start with drew. good morning, guys. the big setup is that cooler air is finally moving into our region even right now we're running some five to six degrees cooler than this time yesterday. so current numbers, we're in the 50s to low 60s. the 50s are widespread this hour. good morning, novato. 58. that number in hayward, 59. good morning in san jose. 12-hour planner, the fog returning, coastal clouds today. some high clouds streaming in through the afternoon. widespread 70s
