abc7news.com. well, did you feel it? a weak earthquake shook napa county this afternoon. happened around 2:30 near ang win. it's been over three years since that big earthquake, 6.0 struck near napa. geological analyst found no danger risk following two rock slides. the report comes after rocks and slabs of granite broke in the last two days. an even larger slide injured a plan when a rock crash through his car's sunroof hitting him on the head. the size was the size of a 36 story building. slides are a normal part of the park. >> the area remains open. we've posted elevated rock fall activity signs just to let people know. >> officials seyed's rock fall

was the 29th largest rock fall the park has had and 20 times larger than the one on wednesday. yesterday, equifax announced it will offer everyone a free life long tool for locking their credit reports. >> consumer groups welcome that news but says it's not enough. >> activists free credit reports as many as they want and they want free credit looking and all three major reporting bureaus and that is just the start. when our personal private information was stolen from a leeky equifax, bay act acted fast. >> i think we looked at that website and checked our credit. >> matt schultz and a senior analyst at credit card.com, he

said she should all follow tom's lead. >> the first thing people should do is get their credit report from all three bureaus and check your online bank statement and online credit card statement to make sure that nothing unusual is on there right now. >> matt says this isn't a one-time thing. the breach is a breach that will keep on giving. >> it is like being mugged over and over and over again, and it's important for people to understand that bad guys can be very patient. and just because they haven't used your data yet, doesn't mean that you're out of the woods. >> matt is backed up on that by the electronic frontier foundation. the foundation is much too hard for consumers to get their day in court. and that is making our data more vulnerable. >> there are very little incentives for these companies to keep our data secure at this

time. that's why you have these breaches happening constantly. >> the electronic front tier foundation says we need to make it easier for consumers to sue by setting up something like a lemon law for data. >> they need to generally come up with an idea or a way for the victims of these breaches to get compensated. >> and to make it easier to lock down your credit reports. >> why not. >> the consumer group based here in the bay area launched a program asking for free credit freezes for all consumers. i've posted a link to that organization if you want to check it out. that will be with this story on abc7news.com. >> thanks michael. it is that time again. the bay bridge scheduled to close tomorrow morning to continue the implosion of marine foundation with the old eastern span. it should shut down between 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. for about 30 minutes. this will be the third of six

new at 6:00 a don deal. the deal means palo alto will be reserved as an affordable housing site. the purchase cost $55 million, paid by santa clara county, the city of pal toe alto and the housing authority with federal funds. affordable housing brought back to the entire bay area. melanie wood row has the big announcement in san francisco today. >> reporter: governor jerry brown signed 15 bills into law

that will provide funding for affordable housing, boast construction and strengthing housing laws. governor brown signed the housing bills at hunter's view, an affordable housing project. >> let's hand out keys to the people who want those units. >> reporter: the housing crisis has spilled on to bay area sidewalks. >> we saw it on the way here, and it could have been los angeles. >> reporter: a problem these bills will hopefully help alleviate. >> the first area half of this money be go to homelessness. >> today the building, senate and government and all of our staffs together put something i think will relieve the housing criminal case for a lot of californians. >> including those who still have many many years before they rent or buy. >> my toddler's here, here at his first bill signing mr. governor. my wife and i wonder whether his son and friends will be able to

winds will be gusting to 30 miles per hour and low humidity. formation starting at 7:00 this evening, shows marine layers sweeping across -- it will be mainly sunny and will remain sunny across the entire bay area from coast to inland. over night, low temperatures will drop into the upper 40s in napa and santa rosa. most locations we'll see into the low 50s, tomorrow sunny skies. look for breezy conditions but it will be mild at the coast with highs in mid to upper 50s. upper 70s in several places. inland areas will warm up to mid-80s. this week is oak to meer fest going into october in oakland. high temperatures in the mid-70s. san francisco it will be a bridge to bridge run from the bay bridge to the golden gate.

>> announcer: live where you live, this is abc 7 news. inside this san jose courthouse today, a former probation counsel felt what it was like to be on the other side of the law. century sha pap ra was charged with sexual assault. she allegedly had sex with two boys while they were in jail. her bail is set at $50,000. the prosecutors wanted it raised by a million. >> she was tasked with caring for these juveniles and violated that trust. there is more than one victim in this case and the investigation is ongoing. >> she did not enter a plea today, that's expected to happen at her next court date in two weeks. new details on the suspect behind this crazy carjacking in

the east bay. the suspect's name has not been released but will be in court on monday to be charged. the suspect stole a car in alameda. let police on a high speed chase. it ended peacefulfully a short time later. the homeless man who stabbed a policeman wanted to represents himself in court. he's being held without bail on charges including attempted murder. the san francisco police officer was responding to a report of a man acting suspiciously in a terminal one baggage claim when he was attacked, stabbed in the hands, leg neck and face. he's now out of the hospital. well you heard the old saying justice delayed is justice denied. >> why a criminal case against a driver accused of killing a teenager in san francisco has been repeatedly delayed for seven years. >> dan nori with the story.

>> a 16-year-old boy died in a car crash by a woman driving more than 70-mile-an-hour in downtown san francisco. she was charged with his death but 4 years later there's still no court date. >> friends say kevin was a great guy. >> he always had a smile on his face. >> the listen con high school student was a proud member of the rotc drum core core core passionate and accomplished bikist. he was driven to school by his mother and then they stopped at pine and bluff. >> police say a silver mercedes suv hit the mini van from behind going more than 70 miles per hour. >> i saw it flip over. the back part flipped back. >> kevin was killed, his mother and sister were seriously

injured. the driver of the mercedes was arrested. >> the offender in this case is being charged with three felony counts, one of vehicular manslaughter and two counts involving reckless driving with serious injuries. >> that was four years ago. kevin's sister told us his family can't understand why getting justice is taking so long. just last week the suspect was in court for a preliminary hearing. >> it's very unusual to see this kind of delay. >> former federal prosecutor. >> there's an old saying in criminal law circles that is delay is a friend of the defense. it is usually and almost always to the advantage at the defense because the prosecution bears the burden of proof. >> the abc 7 teams examine the files to -- but we also these three motion for
