live where you live, this is abc 7 news. >> the bay area mourns two of its own. a mother and wife from novato and woman from san jose both confirmed among the dead in las vegas. thanks for joining us today, i'm reggie aqui. kristen sze is going to be in later. we were hoping to bring you better news today about stacey, missing since she and her husband separated during the chaos of the shooting. see her on the left. her family confirms she died in the attack. also this morning news of another woman from the bay area killed, michelle vo of san jose. more on michelle in just a moment. stacey's husband did what first respo responders do, he stayed behind to help out, told his wife to run and find safety. that would be the last time they would talk to each other.

abc 7 news reporter tiffany wilson live in novato where the couple and their two children live. tiffany, this is so difficult. >> reporter: reggie, this is a very difficult day in novato, so many people leaving comments and condolences online for the family. the president of the san francisco police officer's association is expected to speak here about stacey's passing in just about 30 minutes. he had planned to fly to las vegas this morning to help with the search efforts. instead, he drove north. to comfort. wife, mother, daughter, friend, hairstylist, simple titles do not capture the fullness of life stacey embraced. sunday night she and her husband san francisco police officer, vinny, were enjoying the route 91 harvest festival with friends. when the shots started, his training kicked in. me hupushes stacey under a barrier, and during a break in the bullets told her to run.

he never saw his wife again. >> he was trying to protect his family by telling him to get away. >> reporter: all day yesterday stacey was missing. this morning the tragic facebook update from vinny's brother, al. "it's with a heavy heart and deep sorrow stacey etchaber passed away. please pray for our family. leaves behind two adoring beautiful children and amazing husband. thank you to everyone for all the support in the past few days. we will dearly miss you. again, stacey is survived by her husband, their 10-year-old son, and 13-year-old daughter. live in novato, tiffany wilson, abc 7 news. >> they are so young and we grieve for them, tiffany, thank you. the san francisco police department released a statement this morning about the passing, says in part "stacee was taken in a senseless act of violence as her husband sfpd officer vinnie etcheber heroically

rushed to help victims on sunday. we ask you to keep the family in your thoughts along with the victims in this tragic incident." a second bay area native killed in the las vegas shooting, michelle vo graduated from independence high school in 2003. she was living in the los angeles area, working in finance. i'm seeing this tweeted by a colleague, he's talking to friends who say she was a tom boy at heart. she loved sports and golf. was one of her favorites. as we learn more about the victims, police are combing through evidence found in the suspect's home and hotel room and this midday, they're releasing a new image taken inside the mandalay bay hotel showing one of the weapons and the aftermath in that room. abc's marcie gonzalez picks up our coverage in las vegas. >> reporter: today new stories of heroism amidst the chaos. >> i jumped on my friend. got hit in the back. i put my arm over here, got shot in the arm. >> reporter: strangers saving lives sunday as a gunman opened

fire from la mandalay bay hotel into the crowd of this country music festival. >> said, shot, need to help you, took my belt, tied off my leg and kept me from bleeding out. i would have died. >> reporter: 59 people did lose their lives. among them, hannah, a mother of three. 23 jordan mcildoon at the concert with his girlfriend. >> said, be honest with me, tell me, is he okay? i said, no, i said, he's passed away. >> reporter: and navy veteran christopher roible. >> he went to combat and came back without being injured and goes to a concert and dies. >> reporter: so many asking why. police hoping evidence 64-year-old stephen paddock's hotel room coulding a computer possibly set up to record paddock's horrific actions. 19 more firearms found in his

not going to let this one person ruin it for every other performer here and the that came to have a good time. >> people have also placed candles and flowers across the street from where the shooting happened. bay area residents who attended the concert are sharing their stories of survival. kim shubert of petaloma says a man near her got shot in the back. >> i put my body over the guy, to protect it from any more shooting and the people that were around him, i kind of laid on them to make sure everybody was okay. then i'm pretty sure one of the girls got shot. at that point, i just -- i kind of freaked out. i was like, i got to go, we got to go. called my daughter. and basically just told her i didn't think i was going to make it. >> we're so glad she did. she thought there were at least four gunmen because of the sheer amount of gunfire. police have said they believe the shooter, stephen paddock, acted alone. donations continue to pour

in as the world reacts to the news out of las vegas. a gofund me page to raise money for the victims is climbing once again. the las vegas victims fund has now raised $3.4 millio look at that, it's gone up since we last saw it. now it's $3.5 billion. the goal raised to $4.5 billion. the oakland raiders who plan to move to las vegas donated $50,000 to the fund. blood centers of the pacific and san francisco reporting while the immediate need for blood donations in las vegas has been met, blood products are always in demand due to their short shelf life. the blood bank is part of a nationwide sk that replenishes blood supplies in disaster stricken areas. red blood cells have a shelf life of 42 days. platelets only five days. blood centers of the pacific

and back now you our coverage of the shooting in las vegas. this is today's cover of the "las vegas review journal." a photo of the concert venue where the shooting happened and headline that simply says "unimaginable." is making headlines this morning after using his monologue to address the shooting. kimmel actually grew up in vegas and got emotional when he talked about what happened. >> there's probably no way to ever know why a human being would do something like this too other human beings, at a

concert, having fun, listening to music. as a result of that, this morning, we have children without parents, and fathers without sons, mothers without daughters. we lost -- >> including right here in the bay area. kimmel asked viewers to press congress for more gun control, underscoring the point that love and prayers are not enough. as we mentioned, president trump is going to visit las vegas tomorrow to meet with first responders there. today, he's in puerto rico giving praise to the u.s. response to the humanitarian crisis there. the president met with first responders and commented on what a wonderful job they're doing. then, curiously, the president segued into a criticism of the island. >> now, i hate to tell you, puerto rico, but you've thrown our budget a little out of whack because we spent a lot of money on puerto rico and that's fine. >> president getting a lot of pushback this morning because of that remark. he toured a part of the island,

72 in san francisco. 75 to 78 around the bay down into the south bay. about 79 to 83 in the north bay. about 80 to 83 this afternoon for a high in our inland east bay neighborhoods. tomorrow pretty much a holding pattern. look at the signs of warmth as we start to hit the mid 80s inland up to the north bay and south bay, 81 in redwood city thursday. look at that warm start to spread, 80s everywhere except for the coast. friday, i think we'll see -- i think that's underdone for san francisco at 74. i bet we're near 80 for friday in san francisco. might have to revise that tomorrow. here's a look at the exploratori exploratorium. see how gorgeous it. difference between today and yesterday, a little more haze in the air. temperatures as we head toward lunch, if you're heading out, 71 inland. we'll stay at the 60s at the mid, upper 70s elsewhere. need a jacket by 8:00. look at that by midnight, 53 to 59. let's see how far we're going to drop tonight. mid 40s in our deepest valleys of the north bay and east bay.

low to mid 50s for the rest of us. let's talk about the warm weather. with the offshore breeze, the warmth is going to spread to the coast thursday and friday. we'll get near 80 there. 80s to 90s for the rest of us 37 the sea breeze kicks in locally saturday and also into sunday, why you cool off while the rest of us stay pretty warm. during october, it's kind of hard to get much warmer than eee 90s and get right at 90 frida gt and saturday and taper the temperatures next week. a string of warmer than average weather for a while. >> talking about shorts weather for the blue angels? >> absolutely. >> that's not bad. thanks, mike. >> can you bet. flu season is here and happening today, a chance to get vaccinated in the south bay. santa clara county and library district hosting its first free flu shot clinic. today's clinic goes from 1:00 to 3:30 this afternoon at the milpitas library on north main street. anyone 18 or older can stop in for a flu shot.

with the stars" opening last night show's with a tribute to the victims of the las vegas massacre. >> there's an old saying that the show must go on and it will. please know that we're doing tonight's show with you foremost in our minds and hearts. >> the stars also offering their condolences saying their hearts are with the families who have been affected. "dancing with the stars" also posted this photo on instagram showing the dancers forming the shape of a heart with their hands. the caption reads "continuing to send light, positivity and love to the world." you can catch a new episode of "dancing with the stars" monday night at 8:00 on abc 7. that was a poignant moment. >> it was. that was a great statement they made there because the hurt, there's so much hurt over such a short time. how much more hurt do we have left? i mean, we got to stop this somehow. >> it's amazing how many connections we have to the bay area, of course, sadly, finding out that two victims from the shooting massacre from right here in the bay area. of course, we're finding out more about them and my colleague
