inside the mandalay bay hotel room. what would motivate the one time accountant and avid gambler with no known criminal record? >> he had nothing to do with any political organization, religious organization no, white supremacists, nothing. >> investigators say there were more than 40 guns recovered both in paddock's nevada home, in his hotel room, and material used to make explosives were also discovered in his car. in that hotel room, a computer and a source to record the horrific shooting. officials are looking closely at his finances saying in the past two years, he's more than 200 plus reports of large financial transactions. >> and we are learning a lot more about paddock's back ground. he worked for the federal government ten years including an irs agent in the audit zparmt

end of the strip say it is you have to look out and see it. >> we opened the main arena and we can see the window where the shoot was from our room. it is all very weird. >> richard says this trip has been a year in the making. that they have canceled some of their plans since the arrival because of what happened. >> we've got lots of things planned but it doesn't seem very respectful to be out partying and whatever. >> further down the strip you see crowds of people. walking with drinks, posing for pictures, and even screaming on the new york, new york roller coaster. >> i'm still having my fun. we're enjoying it so much. >> this group of women traveled from alabama and decided to focus on the positive and keep enjoying their vacation. >> vegas is a wonderful place to visit. we have so much fun each time i come. it is not all bad. >> they still have the victims on their minds. locals do, too.

watching from home of he felt so helpless. he took the day off work. he came right here to police and asked if he could help clean up the festival, the concert area. they told him, no. the fbi and investigators are still going through crime scene. so they had to turn him away. >> a lot of altruism right now. thank you. nevada community is coming together for a candlelight vigil in honor of stacy who died in the las vegas shooting. her husband started helping victims after it began. stacy's family believe she turned around to help as well >> stacy had such an impact here in novato that her brother-in-law says he has received countless messages about her. even a message from a cashier at a local hardware store. somebody who probably only met

bail. >> david will explain how it will work. >> the time between arrest and trial could mean many months behind bars unless a person can get bail. for many low income and poor people, bail isn't always possible. that's why proponents are saying, it is time for bail reform. wtss unanimous vote, santa clara is going to be the first in the state to make it easier for low income suspects to make bail. there are about 2,300 he in jail at one time. >> what this creates is an opportunity for them to get the punishment if they actually committed the crime. not to take them away from jobs, families, school, the other people keep people on track. >> cry titeria will be determin.

reform next year. santa clara county hopes to have its new program operational by next spring. abc7 news. >> thanks very much. we are getting a better look at the man charged in question, last thursday's wild car chase in alameda county. police arrested 29-year-old matthew quiles. we've learned the charges include carjacking, robbery, kidnapping and hit and run. sky 7 followed the chase. he stole a car from a gas station in alameda, police followed how many 880. he came to a stop light. climbed out of driver's side window, got into a white convertible and appeared to instruct driver to keep driving. the police stopped the vehicle and took him into custody. nine days ago there was an arrest and there was a town hall

meeting to talk about what happened. there was a report of a disturbance. police entered the apartment after hearing a shot fired where the officer shot and killed the suspect. tonight's meeting is at 6:00. the former ceo of equifax is apologizing saying he takes full responsibility for the criminal hack that happened under his watch. richard smith testified before a house sub committee earlier today. he talked about the data breach that fwaektd 145 million americans. the hack was possible because of a combination of human error and technological mistakes. >> i regret the frustration that many americans felt when our call centers were overwhelmed in the early days. >> lawmakers on the congressional panel say the breach was unacceptable. they're calling for a change in corporate culture to value security and transparency. new details coming out about

the 2013 security breach at yahoo!. it affected all 3 billion of its accounts. yours if you have one, in other words. yahoo! said more than 1 billion had been affected. wells fargo ceo tim sloan also testified before congress today. senators on the banking committee today testified about a scandal. they say it is an example of how banking culture has not changed. wells fargo admits it enrolled customers for insurance they did not need and those he who didn't pay had their cars repossessed. there is some new research from the charles schwab corporation out today concerning bay area residents per session of wealth. residents say it takes an average of $4.2 million to be wealthy.

novato, fairfield. and these are the forecast features. an early morning chill but warmer afternoons in thursday and friday. it will be shades of summer. let's take a look at weather wellness. right now, the tree pollen are high. overnight, look for clear skies and relatively cool conditions. we expect lows of 40 in santa rosa. some inland valley locations drop to the upper 30s and they may drop even lower over the next couple of mornings. we're looking at low 50s around the bay. a little crisp but not exactly cold. the planner for tomorrow shows sunrise under clear skies. and temperatures in the inland valleys will be in the mid 40s.

45 people are still in critical condition following the las vegas mass shooting. the death toll stands at 59 right now. police have today that stephen paddock fired for close to nine minutes from a 32nd floor room at mandalay bay hotel right there down on the harvest festival. they said he had cameras set up inside and outside his hotel room to monitor approaching police. the fbi has all equipment in their custody. a bay area woman reunited with her injured boyfriend from whom she was separated during all the chaos sunday night. we have heard from two bay area couples who were at the concert. they helped more than a dozen injured people. >> it was supposed to be a fun weekend with friends.

shocking tragedy. las vegas happens to be my home town and cleto's home town. as you know, at least 59 people are dead. hundreds of people were wound. what they say was the deadliest mass shooting in modern american history, coming a year and a half after the previous deadliest mass shooting. we pray for the victims and their families and friends and we wonder why. even though there's probably no way to ever know why a human being would do something like this to other human beings who are at a concert, having fun and listening to music. >> kimmel asked people to press congress for more gun control. jimmy isn't the only one calling for change. the recent rash of shootings is raising some really new and deep

we're learning more that the man accused of killing two women in a knife attack in france. the suspect carried a tunisian passport and lived iitaly. he stabbed two women to death at a train station on single. soldiers shot and killed him. isis has claimed responsibility for the attack. president trump made his first trip to puerto rico today, greeting familiar liss still struggling from hurricane maria. he surveyed the damage and the devastation. the president took time to praise the response amid the criticism. his handling of the disaster. president trump in puerto rico as consoler in chief. this during the president's first trip to the u.s. territory two weeks after hurricane maria as one emergency official, put it, destroyed the island. so far, power restored to just 7% of the island and some two-thirds of residents still don't have cell service.

the state department is expelling 15 cuban diplomats from the u.s. they said they must leave within the next week. the u.s. is taking action after cuba failed to protect american diplomats at the embassy in havana. the american diplomats will leave cuba by the end of the week. the first lawsuits against the trump administration's new travel restrictions have been filed. a coalition of sxlim iranian american advocates are the plaintiffs. one lawsuit says that restricting travel for people from predominantly muslim countries violates the
