there you go. i know it's a lot thicker at the golden gate bridge. i know that alexis will probably talk about that. a look at sutro tower. the fog is not making much of an eastward push right now. in fact, it will go away by noon to 4:00 along the coast. 73 to 78 around the bay. warmer in your 12-hour day planner. what have you got, alexis? >> a dense fog advisory for golden gate. we're not seeing that in the east bay. i'm not seeing any of that in your commute. a quick check of drive times. not terrible. golden gate, that fog is not slowing you down southbound 101. you're wide open, six minutes in the green. westbound 80 across the bay bridge, slight delays at 13 minutes. in the green at 14 minutes over the san mateo bridge.

authorities want to determine if the gunman may have had help in the massacre. >> the girlfriend told authorities she had no idea he was planning the attack. lana zak live with what we know this morning. lana? >> reporter: good morning to you, reggie and natasha. he did do a lot of planning. in addition to the suite he had here at the mandalay bay hotel he had also reserved several other rooms at hotels all along the strip. all of them overlooking the concert venue. you can see the heroism of ordinary americans in the worst of circumstances. victims of the las vegas shooting being led into a vehicle before it sped off to the hospital. one of those victims was out celebrating her 28th birthday with her sister athena. >> i knew i couldn't give up on her. she deserved a chance.

i mean, she was literally dying in my arms. >> reporter: in trying to piece together his motive. authorities have been questioning the shooter's girlfriend, marilou danley. danley says when stephen paddock sent her to the philippines and wired her money she believed he was breaking up with her. authorities believe paddock had planned to escape and they question if he really acted alone. >> it's troublesome this individual was able to move this amount of gear into a hotel room. unassisted. >> reporter: we've also learned the name of the security guard at the mandalay bay hotel who is being called a hero. he was the first to encounter the shooter. his name jesus campos. he still persisted in leading police successfully to the shooter's location. reporting live from las vegas, lana zak, abc 7 news. >> thank goodness he did. seems like a very humble man. the las vegas sheriff release

this had time line of sunday night's shooting saying the first shots were fired at 10:05 p.m. at 10:12 the first officers arrived on the 31st floor and then they reported gunfire was coming directly from the floor above them. at 10:15 the suspect fired his last shots. two minutes later officers arrived on the 32nd floor. they moved systematically clearing every room before at 11:20 they breached his room. this morning we're hearing for the first time from the parents of stacee etcheber, one of the victims from the bay area. >> these family photos provided by her parents. etcheber and her husband vinnie, a san francisco police officer, were at the concert. during the shooting the couple got separated when vinnie went to help the victims. following the shooting vinnie couldn't find her. her family checked all the hospitals before vinnie reluctantly went to the morgue. >> put her pen down and said i'll be right back. she knew. she knew.

she went back. she came back with a picture of stac stacee, and it was just heartwrenching. it was really heartwrenching. >> stacee is survived by her husband and two young children. another vigil will be held tonight at 7:00 p.m. in novato. this morning in las vegas residents and tourists are trying to get back to some degree of normalcy. >> jessica castro has been in las vegas all week, and she reports on what the mood is like now. >> reporter: the mood is still somber in las vegas, and no one has quite moved on. messages flash everywhere, even showing a phone number for where victims can seek counseling, certainly not something you usually see on a las vegas billboard. >> we talked about how much we liked the #vegas strong. it was great. >> reporter: you don't mind seeing the marquee? >> not at all. >> reporter: make no mistake the deadliest mass shooting in u.s. history is weighing heavil and

concert last night. the big news this morning that 10:00 p.m. curfew was broken again. the city will be finding the 49ers $750. >> bottom line is promises were made and we have to honor those promises that were made. >> reporter: that's santa clara city councilmember who lives about a mile and a half away from levi's stadium. she says she could hear the music and the crowd late into the night. the concert ended about 10:55 last night. this is the third time the 10:00 weekday curfew has been broken. the councilmember says the city manager is planning on doing an outreach with the neighbors to find out what the community is looking for and what they expect from these events at levi's stadium. >> we have a 40-year relationship with the 49ers. we want to honor that relationship. we want to work together, but we have to see transparency. we have to see collaboration and accountability. >> reporter: the 49ers say they're concerned concerts may

not come to levi's stadium again unless this curfew issue is resolved. artist ed sheeran has already backed out and they'll continue to lose more costing the city thousands of jobs and millions of dollars in revenue. reporting live in santa clara, matt keller, abc 7 news. >> the fight continues. thank you, matt. oakland city councilmembers plan to review litigation by the families of ghost ship victims and survivors. it'll be a closed door session on october 17th. during the meeting monetary settlements can be determined. 36 people died in the warehouse fire last december. oakland, alameda county, pg&e and other agencies named defendants in the wrongful death and injury lawsuits. next week the health department in san francisco will have a hepatitis a vaccination program. california has seen outbreaks in other parts of the state. officials say homeless people and drug users are the most at-risk populations. they will be free at clinics and community organizations that serve homeless people.

vaccines will be offered at project homeless next wednesday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. a billionaire has opened the gate blocking access, however, not permanently. he put up this gate in 2008 on his property blocking the only path to the popular beach. he was being threatened with huge fines if he didn't open it. the deadline was yesterday and apparently the gate will now be open only on certain days and for a certain amount of time. california beaches are public land by state law. it's unclear how the california coastal commission will respond. >> here's a reason to smile this morning. riddle me this. what has four legs, a fluffy tail and works for police. the police cat. the police department posted this photo showing the cute little cat, the newest four-legged addition. she even has her own police vest. tia usually works 30-minute

bridge. we briefly had the harrison exit blocked due to a very minor collision. they moved that off the ramp and everything is back open. just some very slight delays, if any, as you make your way into the city. a quick quick of our live traffic camera. it's really not bad for those folks from treasure island. a quick check, westbound 580 tracy to dublin. a disabled truck at north flynn has cleared, too. a solid hour for you. antioch to concord you're in the red and southbound 101 san rafael to san francisco you're in the green at 16 minutes. another setback for b.a.r.t. its new fleet of trains won't be ready until thanksgiving. earlier this year b.a.r.t. said the trains would roll out in june. then that got pushed back to september. the problem is mechanical glitches and snafus in the air conditioning. the paperwork alone is massive. each of the first ten pilot cars requires 3,000 documents.

delays but beware that could delay your trip this morning. hearing about police activity on the intersection of fell and baker in san francisco. more on that up next. >> chilling new images are emerging of the chaos and fear as that gunman opened fire on a crowd in las vegas. >> police are actively trying to determine if the gun pan had help in the massacre. amy hollyfield is live for us. good morning, amy. >> reporter: good morning, natasha. an update from the hospital. the head of trauma here at university medical center is saying more victims are expected to be released from the hospital today so more patients are recovering physically. we also do have some new video to show you that morning that has been just surfaced of what happened that night. in the video you can see terrified people running for their lives during that rampage. there's also video of a hero. it shows a man loading victims in his truck and transporting them.

he said everyone just looked so helpless and vulnerable and he had to help. investigators are still trying to piece together what happened, and they say the more they learn, the more they think this shooter had help. >> it's troublesome this individual was able to move this amount of gear no a hotel room unassisted. >> reporter: president trump visited patients in their hospital beds yesterday. the head of trauma here says the president and some of the victims at times could be heard laughing. they kept it light. they were talking about music and family and the doctor said this morning that the visit really helped lift the mood here. reporting live in las vegas, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> amy, thank you. a gun shop owner in texas says paddock came into his store last year with his girlfriend and he says paddock asked about modifying a gun to make it easier to pull the trigger at a faster clip. the dealer says paddock didn't buy anything last year but did

sell handguns in 2010 and 2011. never purchased any long guns that could have been used in the vegas attack. a west virginia democratic senator joe manchin says he plans to meet with senator pat toomey of pennsylvania to talk about bipartisan gun background check legislation. the two senators have worked together in the past but manchin says he does not want to reintroduce the bill unless there's more widespread gop support. the legislation has previously been rejected twice by the senate. new this morning from the live desk check out the brand-new cover of "time" magazine just tweeted in the last hour. in big, bold, white letters over a black background the name of several cities that have seen mass shootings are listed and it ends with las vegas. the cover story asks will the las vegas shooting change the debate over guns. we know more about the life and final moment of michelle vo. she grew up in san jose.

she went to the festival sunday night by herself but quickly struck a conversation with this man from ohio. they became fast friends. she and cody robertson were standing together near the stage when the first shots rang out. vo got hit. robertson and others put her in a truck to go to the hospital. robertson then parted ways with her as he was rescuing other people. later after going to many hospitals and getting in contact with michelle's family he learned she did not make it. her sister described robertson as a hero. >> to know she had you in her last moments, she wasn't alone. you didn't leave her, gives me a little bit of comfort. >> the lengths this man went to in order to keep her family informed is really incredible. michelle sent her cyst aerophotograph of herself shortly before she was shot and

killed. you can learn more about the victims of sunday night's shooting and the heroes that stepped up to help out by visiting our website abc7news.com. it is 6:35 now. new this morning two chp officers are in the hospital after crashing into a center divide in redwood city. sky 7 was over the scene. this happened just after 3:00 a.m. no word on why the officers crashed. they have minor injuries. at one point all southbound lanes were closed but they have since reopened. new this morning authorities are looking into an early morning boat fire in alameda. you can see the flames and smoke. the scene is near harbor bay parkway and doolittle drive. it broke out around 1:00 a.m. it's not clear why. no word on any injuries. >> crews will be taking advantage on clearing coyote creek. heavy vegetation could lead to flooding. crews worked to cut it down. santa clara valley water district has rebuilt a levee built to protect mobile home

volumes now. it's not looking terrible. we do have sky 7 on the way to the scene. they're not quite there yet. they are working on getting there. we'll go live to them. they should be there in about ten minutes. a quick check of drive times. northbound 880 between 238 and the maze looks okay, in the green at 15. and then northbound 101 between highway 85 and the san jose airport you're also looking great at just about 25 minutes. if you bought a n car recently you have probably noticed a lot of new bells and whistles. some vehicles have as many as 50 buttons on the steering wheel and dashboard. a new study out of the university of utah says info-tainment is causing drivers to be distracted for dangerously long periods of time. it takes 40 seconds to input an address. if you're doing that and driving 25 miles an hour your vehicle would travel the length of four football fields in that time.

79 one of the warm spots along the east bay shore. oakland, 77 today. about 83 to 86 in our inland east bay neighborhoods. tonight mid-40s to mid-50s with no cloud cover along the coast. and warmer air tomorrow. notice the local sea breeze drops the temperature at the coast saturday and sunday. it warms up again at the coast. alexis, what are you watching? >> we were looking at some heavier traffic on the san mateo bridge. we haven't had any major problems along that route today. i want to flip over to our traffic maps. we did have police activity reported at the interception of fell street and baker street. that's what sky 7 was looking for before they got some beauty shots for us.

we could have muni delays. metering lights have been on since 5:21 this morning and typical delays through the maze and into san francisco. no major trouble spots. uber and lyft drivers have managed to skirt fingerprint checks again. the california public utilities commission declined to require biometric screening saying they don't add a greater level of security above those already in place. taxi drivers have to get fingerprint checks and they've long lobbied for uber and lyft drivers to have the same requirements. they say the checks are discriminatory because they're subject to continuous status monitoring. san francisco-based cruz automation for autonomous cars is now telling state regulators that six of its self-driving cars were involved in crashes last night most in the city. they say none of the chevy bolts was responsible for the crashes.

one car was rear-ended by a driver on his cell phone. carolina panthers quarterback cam newton is being criticized for his sexist response to this female reporter's question. >> you take a lot of pride in seeing your receivers play well. funchess seems to have embraced the physicality of his routes and making, getting those extra yards. does that give you a little bit of enjoyment to see him out there? >> it's funny to hear a female talk about routes. it's funny. >> that reporter called out newton's remarks on twitter writing, i don't think it's funny to be a female and talk about routes. i think it's my job. the panthers tell espn newton later spoke to the reporter and expressed regret for the remarks, but she says she spoke with him and he did not apologize for his comments. >> they need to get that story straight. happening today san francisco city officials say they will reveal significant new changes to the city's recycling
