live where you live, this is abc 7 news. >> a killer on a mission, how police describe the gunman in the las vegas massacre as new details emerge about a larger plot. we're learning he may have considered targeting other major american cities. thanks for joining us, i'm kristen sze. abc news confirms stephen paddock booked hotel rooms in chicago during last summer's lollapalooza festival attended by half a million people. investigators also believe he scouted site in boston. these bombshells come as we get a new look at the carnage left behind at the site of the mass shooting in las vegas. our abc sister station got this aerial footage this morning.

over the grounds of the route 91 harvest festival. see the stage is damaged. fences are overturned and personal belongings were left behind. everything from purses and shoes to lawn chairs. all those water bottles and red cups dropped as people ran for their lives. we're also getting a closer look at the mandalay bay resort, what became the snipe ore's perch. see the hotel windows that police say stephen paddock broke in order to fire on the crowds below. a close-up view now through the window into the room where you can see the furniture inside and the police tape. we also have new vid joe sheo s lengths people went two to escape the gunfire. brian hopkins, country singer, released this cell phone video. he and a dozen others huddled in a freezing sunday night shortly after the bullets started flying. marcie gonzalez picks up our coverage in las vegas, police are looking into whether the gunman had an accomplice. >> reporter: investigators now delving into thelaborate

planning of sunday night's attack on this country music festival in las vegas. now saying it's possible gunman stephen paddock had some type of help. >> troublesome that this individual was able to move this amount of gear into a hotel room unassisted. >> reporter: an official briefed on the investigation says paddock was seen with a woman in his final days. they're now trying to figure out who she is. as the fbi questions his girlfriend, marilou dada person of interest. her attorney reading a statement she you denying any knowledge. >> he never said anything to any, took sany action i was awae of that i understood in any way to be a warning that something horrible like this was going to happen. >> reporter: investigators are now looking into the possibility paddock may have planned to attack earlier. sources saying paddock booked hotel rooms in chicago in august during the lollapalooza festival. authorities say she rented a room at this las vegas condo

overlooking a different concert a week before the massacre that left 58 innocent people dead, 487 others inju among them, jesus compos, security guard first to approach his hotel room, the gunman shooting him through the door. s bravery was h amazing because he remained with our pass to access the door and e k actually continued to help them clear rooms until our officer demanded he go seek medical attention. >> reporter: campos tells abc news he was doing his job and is doing okay. today, 150 others injured in the attack are still hospitalized. marcie gonzalez, abc news, las vegas. this morning we're hearing for the first time from the parents of stacee etcheber, one of the victims. etcheber and her husband vinnie were at the las vegas concert. during the shooting the couple

got separated when vi in, innie to help victims and lost stacee. the family checked all the hospitals were vinnie reluctantly went to the morgue. >> the lady put her pen down, said, i'll be right back. she knew. she knew. she went back. she came back with a picture of stacee. and, oh, it was just -- it's heart wrenching. it was really, really heart wrenching. >> stacee etcheber's heartbroken father. she is survived by her husband and two children. we know more about the life and final moments of shooting victim michelle vo. she lived in las vegas but grew up in san jose. an ohio man struck up with a friendship with vo at the festival. cody robertson was standing with vo near the stage when the first shots rang out. vo was hit. robertson and others put her in a truck to go to the hospital. robertson helped rescue others. later he learned michelle didn't make it. her sister says robertson is a

he hero. >> to know that she -- she had you in her last moments, she wasn't alone. you didn't leave her. a little bit of comfort. >> michelle sent her sister a photograph of herself at the concert shortly before she was shot and killed. house minority leader nancy pelosi of san francisco is responding after not receiving enough republican support to create a select committee on gun violence. immediately after the las vegas mass shooting, pelosi called on speaker paul ryan to create the special commission. the goal was to examine gun violence and suggests legislation to fight the probable. she says house republicans said no, and voted against moving forward with discussing the idea. >> we have to act now, and we're not going away. we've told the families, we have to pass something and all of this just blossoms when something occurs then we have a flurry of comments from the other side of the aisle. saying this is not the time.

>> on the issue of gun control, republicans say new laws will not stop a madman. san francisco police are making plans to beef up security throughout the weekend. as thousands are expected to attend fleet week festivities and hardly strictly bluegrass festival. sky 7 flew over the festival grounds at golden gate park this morning. an estimated 750,000 people are expected to attend the three-day event. it celebrates music and food and emissi admission is free. today it's going to get loud over san francisco. the blue angels are scheduled to start survey flight in a few hours. they're closing the -- the closing act, i should say, for fleet week air shows each day this weekend. if you take a photo or video of the blue angels in action today, we want to see it, share it on social, use #abc7now. we might use it right here on air. abc news is your source for fleet week, of course, throughout the weekend.

strong rim currents, sneaker waves and large breakers. if you're going to venture into the water, don't turn your back. best to sit on the sand, listen to the waves without getting yourself in there and putting yourself in harm's way. two chp officers in the hospital over a crash in redwood city. sky 7 over the scene on southbound 1 southbound crashed into a center divide after 3:00 a.m. not clear why. 9 officers have minor injuries. at one point, all southbound lanes of 101 were closed. traffic is back to normal this midday. a 90-year-old pedestrian was hit and killed by a car at the san francisco intersection yesterday evening. sky 7 was over thell and baker streets earlier today. police say the fatal accident happened just before 5:30 yesterday evening. the victim died at the hospital. traffic officers are investigating who was at fault there. authorities in alameda are looking into an early morning boat fire. take a look at the flamessmoke.

the scene is near harbor bay parkway and doolittle drive. the fire broke out around 1:00 a.m. no one was hurt. the cause is under investigation. another concert, another broken curfew at levi stadium in santa clara. last night's cold play concert went past the agreed upon 10:00 p.m. renewing neighbors' demand for action. abc 7 news reporter matt keller joins us live from levi stadium. ma matt, neighbors say noise is not the biggest issue. >> reporter: yes, kristen, the fine is really small, $750 for breaking the curfew, but this fight between the city of santa clara and the 49ers continues to be big, and no resolution is in sight. ♪ rock 'n' roll is rooted in rebellion. ♪ ♪ nobody said it was easy >> reporter: last night, cold play dismissed santa clara's 10:00 p.m. weeknight curfew at levi stadium rocking out until

close to 11:00. fans watched the full show. some city leaders thought it was a total bummer. >> we did expect it but at the same time you were disappointed. >> reporter: city council member could hear the music at her house about a mile an a half away. she says this is the third time the curfew was broken at levi stadium. >> we have to consider the quality of life. i don't think it's cost. i think it's quality of life. >> reporter: 49ers say the 10:00 p.m. weeknight curfew is way too early. and puts in jeopardy future concerts a the levi stadium. potentially costing the city thousands of local jobs, millions of dollars in needed revenue and the world class entertainment options that other major cities enjoy. santa clara city manager will be seeking more information through outreach to find out what the community wants. neighbors told us there are bigger problems than loud concerts. >> the curfew is stupid. i mean, how you going to tell grown people they have to be in the house or, you know, you have a curfew to get away from the area. >> all day long, we got planes running, we got planes flying
