local police departments warning them of possible copycats. serena marshall, abc news, washington. there is a new memorial in las vegas this morning. a man drove 2,000 miles from illinois to install these 58 white crosses, one for each victim of the mass shooting. he's a carpenter and he's made crosses for the victims of the pulse nightclub shooting as well as various shootings around chicago. the national rifle association is supporting a gun regulation in the wake of the shooting. the nra says bump stocks can turn rifles into fully automatic need regulations. the gunman used bump stocks to modify his arsenal. a gofundme account has raised more than $9.5 million. the money will be distributed to the victims and their families. it is now 4:30. if you're just waking up, good morning. good morning, guys.

that. we'll come back and take a look at the bay bridge tolls in just a few. >> sue, thank you. fleet week continues, and today all eyes on the water for the parade of ships. >> one of the most popular events every year. tiffany wilson live with more details on this and the other events. hi, tiffany. >> reporter: hi there, reggie and jessica. fleet week activities are under way. one of the activities the parade of ships. i'm standing in front of the "uss essex." we have some better video of it because it is so dark out here now. the first ship will cruise under the bridge at 11:00 and the procession will last about an hour. then later on this afternoon expect to hear some roaring and see some soaring in the skies above. the blue angels will take off from the oakland airport and perform gravity defying stunts. this year three of the six pilots are from the bay area. >> i've seen them for 25 years.

some dog walkers say they avoid the cliffs totally. >> i don't go near the cliffs. we keep my dogs away and stay on the trails. >> it says love you always in the sand. police requested a copy of the photo. they can't say if the message is related. >> a woman is alive thanks to rescuers in the north bay, pulled her out of the water on highway 37. these pictures courtesy of marin chp. the bridge is on the sonoma county line. the woman was in the water for two hours holding on to a bridge pylon. no word on how she ended up in the water. california will be a sanctuary state come january 1st. governor brown has signed legislation preventing police from asking people about their immigration status or from helping in federal immigration enforcement action. the law for bids jails if

they're cleared for release by local law enforcement. the bill does not prohibit federal agents from enforcing immigration laws in california. the oakland police department is accused of violating the city's sanctuary city policy. when federal agents raided a home in august. our media partner "the east bay times" reports oakland police provided traffic control for the raid. the city's pry si commissioner says they provided false information to the public by initially claiming the raid was part of a human trafficking investigation. two people were detained by federal agents during the raid at a west oakland home. one man was arrested. a civil immigration case has been filed against the man who was arrested. san francisco's district attorney has cleared six police officers of wrongdoing in three officer-involved shooting cases, two fatal. one involved a man killed after he opened fire on a police officer last october. nicholas mcworder shot officer kevin downs in the head during a confrontation at lakeside plaza.

[ bleep ] >> and this is body camera video from a second case. a robbery suspect firing at officers in may. that's in bayview hunter's point. one officer shot back but missed. the third case involved a suspected carjacker in the financial district in 2014. it followed a high-speed chase through three counties that ended in the city. happening today a group of protesters will set off on a two-week march from san francisco to sacramento demanding police accountability in the shooting deaths of several people including alex nieto and mario woods. demonstrators want officers in each shooting to be charged with murder. the march will begin at san francisco's hall of justice at 2:00 p.m. and is expected to end october 19th at bacera's office in sacramento. and fromks our liv morning the 2017 winner of the

and welcome back. this morning president trump could be getting ready to fulfill a controversial campaign promise involving birth control. the administration is poised to roll back the federal requirement for employers to include contraceptive coverage in their health insurance plans. according to "the new york times" the directive could come as soon as today. under the new regulations any employer or insurer that objects to covering birth control based on religious beliefs or moral convictions would be exempt. happening today former secretary of state hillary clinton will be in the bay area. she's taking part in a keynote conversation at an inaugural conference focused on digital policy at stanford university. clinton expected to discuss digital technology, diplomacy and democratic values. tickets are only available to stanford students selected in a lottery. clinton is scheduled to appear at 4:30 at the knight management

center. nine bay area whole food stores are among the 56 hit by hackers. the company revealed the breach last month but only revealed which stores were hit until now. customers who bought groceries were not affected but people who use the in-store table a rooms may have been exposed. you can find the list on our website abc7news.com. a clerical error is the reason an inmate was released by mistake in santa clara county. and then he started posting selfies. of course that's when authorities pounced. katie marzullo is in san jose with the story. >> reporter: david lopez walked out of the correctional facility in milpitas a free man. the problem is hours earlier he had been sentenced to eight years in state prison. >> we realize people make mistakes. we can't allow mistakes like this where it endangers the public. >> reporter: the mistake was made by a civilian clerk in the department of corrections.

lopez was sentenced for two crimes on the 28th. he received eight years for armed robbery and pistol-whipping the victim and time served for grand theft. the clerk processed only the paperwork for the time served case, so lopez was released. what happened next is detailed by lopez himself. he posted selfies on instagram along with what appears to be a shopping spree at the east ridge mall, new shoes, backpack, and a meal at the food court. the mistake was released october 4, six days after lopez's release. investigators went into overtime to find him and monitoring his social media paid off. >> we don't take matters like this lightly. it is unacceptable that this happened when we're working to put in measures to ensure that this doesn't happen again. >> reporter: lopez has been rebooked at the main jail. it's unclear if he faces any additional charges. the clerk who made the mistake likely faces corrective action. in san jose, katie marzullo, abc

7 news. b.a.r.t. police need your help to catch a man suspected of robbing a woman aboard a train in the east bay. it happened september 11th between the hayward and south hayward stations and this is the man that they are looking for. police say 37-year-old fredachi stone pointed a handgun at the victim before taking her purse. detectives say stone spends a lot of time around the 81st avenue in oakland. former most valuable player cam newton went to twitter to apologize for his handling of a reporter's question. >> my word choice was extremely degrading and disrespectful to women. and, to be honest, that was not my intentions. to women all around the world i sincerely apologize. >> wednesday morning the reporter asked the carolina panthers star about the route a receiver ran during the game. newton responded by saying, it's funny to hear a female talk about routes. yesterday yogurt maker dannon

next week. that's the weather. a check of the roads with sue. good morning. good morning, we go back to walnut creek where the road work has been picked up. some road work out there longer than chp expected and we were seeing slow traffic back to pleasant hill and the concord area. that is now diminishing so your drive in towards the 24 interchange is about 12 to 10 minutes from concord. look at the bay bridge toll plaza. no metering lights here yet. friday light so far. we'll keep our eye on that and take a look outside. this earlier accident at the altamont pass has been cleared out of lanes, but we're still seeing slow and go in towards livermore. we'll take a look at your drive times in a few minutes. san francisco's planning commission has unanimously approved the giants mission rock project. this according to "the chronicle." it would bring as many as 1,500 housing units, office space, and eight acres of parks. man, that would change that part of the city.
