that will hit the upper 40s. by noon we'll see sunshine and a few high clouds. definitely a chill in the air. 57 to 62 degrees. we'll see an increase in high clouds and some autumn breezes that will keep our temperatures below average. look at that, at the coast 57. inland he bay, 63. if you're heading out this evening they will start off breezy. so grab a coat. those mid to upper 50s, 53 to 57, will feel cooler than that. we have a one and done of this autumn weather. we'll talk about some warm temperatures, possibly some 90s coming up in my accuweather seven-day forecast. here is alexis with an update. taking a live look outside at our walnut creek camera here. you can see the sheen on the pavement, so you could have some of the mist and spray from the roadway kicking up and have to flip the wipers on. no issues southbound 680. we've had a lot of crashes overnight. we had a pretty serious crash that happened about 1:00 this morning on westbound 580 east of hopyard right at the dublin/pleasanton b.a.r.t.

station. one of the drivers was transported with major injuries. the roadway is open but we are concerned about the b.a.r.t. impact. one of the vehicles went through a fence and then went into part of the b.a.r.t. station right near the tracks. we do have >> reporter: they're saying there is not going to be an impact to the commute because it happened early and they were able to end up clearing the tracks. you can see it's not raining but the roads here are still wet along 580, and that's what may have contributed to the crash. just after 1:00 this morning a tow truck driver traveling here near hopyard crashed into the center concrete barrier and a fence at around 1:00. and you can see the truck all smashed up. it even made a hole in the fence. debris from the barrier and the fence landed onto the b.a.r.t. tracks.

caltrans and b.a.r.t. crews were called to the scene and power was shut down. they were able to clear that debris away. they were single tracking for a while and now they're saying it should not be an impact on the commute. the driver, though, of the tow truck was taken to the hospital. his injuries are unknown but the chp tells us that it's just a good reminder when you have these slick roads here, the first rain of the season, people aren't used to it, just make sure you slow down because, again, still not dry. reporting live from dublin, janine de la vega. fire crews making steady progress on those north bay fires. the sulfur fire is 96% contained. the nuns fire in napa and sonoma is 94% containd.

three of the hardest hit neighborhoods will reopen to residents of coffey park, journey's end mobile home park. there's virtually nothing left but this will be the first chance for those residents to see their homes for the first time and try to recover any personal property. school administrators are work to go give families a sense of normalcy. >> schaefer is still standing. located amid the charred ruins with hundreds of homes destroyed all around them. the plan is to clean up the schools and reopen october 30th. >> i imagine we'll be excited and happy and then we'll have those moments where the feelings come up and they're able to express those feelings they may not be able to express because they're still in shock.

>> kits and backpacks with new school supplies are being prepared for students who have lost everything. a public battle between the acting director of the u.s. customs and enfornsment agency. an unverified report that an undocumented immigrant had set the devastating wildfire in sonoma valley. the man is currently in custody facing unrelated arson charges. the sheriff's office says, quote, it's highly unlikely he's to blame for the disastrous fires. i.c.e. release this had statement reading, quote, once again a noncooperative jurisdiction has left their community vulnerable to dangerous individuals and preventible crimes. the sheriff said, in part, i.c.e. attacked the sheriff's office in the midst of the largest natural disaster this county has ever experienced. i.c.e.'s misleading statement

stirs fear in some of our community members who are already exhausted and scared. >> and disturbing allegations coming out of the north bay fire zone involving fema aid and identity theft. 7 on your side michael finney spoke to a resident who tried to get aid for her veterinary practice destroyed by wildfire. dr. lamar says she was speechless when fema told her someone had already used her social security number to apply. >> really on top of everything else i'm sure that nobody needs that ever but in this situation it's even more devastating. >> and she's not the only one who is facing this issue. >> across the united states over 4 million people who registered for help. we're trying to fix it as we speak. >> fema says no money will be going to the scammers. any aid given is deposited into

a registered survivor's bank account. you can bring your issues directly to 7 on your side's michael finney. he's been in the north bay this week answering questions about the fire. today at the clear lake senior community center from 11:00 to 7:00 p.m. s sunnyvale police need you help to find a missing at-risk man. 59-year-old robert perez walked away from an assisted living center last night. take a close look at him here. perez suffers from dementia and has other mental health issues. he is 6 feet tall, thin, wears glasses, and is bald and has a gray beard. perez was last seen wearing a gray shirt and blue pants. if you have seen him call sunnyvale police. developing news where police are looking for a carjacker who ran over and killed the vehicle's owner. the victim identified as 46-year-old james you can see where this happened on via del sol.

sheriff's deputies tell us when he got back to his car the suspect was in the driver's seat. the suspect threw him to the ground and then ran over him. he leaves behind a wife and two children. park service is dropping its fight to restrict dogs from the golden gate national recreation area. the decision comes after a lawsuit uncovered irregularities in the decision making process. the rules would have required dogs to be on a leash in marin, san francisco and san mateo counties. park officials wanted to protect native plants and wildlife, but opponents lobbied successfully for their dogs to run off leash. new developments and an oops in san francisco. recreation and parks commissioners thought they had voted 4-3 to remain justin herman plaza but found out they have to do this again because one of the commissioners in favor of renaming left the meeting early and wasn't present for the actual vote even though he was recorded as saying yes.

the city attorney's office said that legally the vote is now 3-3, so recreation and parks will take another vote on the proposal at its november meeting. repair costs at the damaged oroville dam have skyrocketed to $5 million, nearly double the estimate of $275 million. the contractor says the project has required significantly more excavation and concrete than expected. tens of thousands of people living near the dam were evacuated back in february after the main and emergency spillways were both heavily damaged during storms. check out this gorgeous picture from san rafael this morning. temperature 53 degrees under a partly cloudy sky. look at our air quality. it is good everywhere and it is going to be good to moderate later. the string of spare the air alerts over for now. let's take a look at your

in a long time and quite a few crashes to go along with that as well. i'll have details in a few minutes. it is 4:45. the controversy continues over president trump's alleged comments to the widow of a fallen soldier. president trump's chief of staff is opening up about the loss of his own son in afghanistan and how he advised the president to handle these emotional calls to a fallen service member's loved ones. >> reporter: good morning. it was a surprise visit. general john kelly hoping to end the controversy that has consumed the white house all week. not from chief of staff john kelly but gold star father and retired general john kelly. >> there's no perfect way to make that phone call. >> reporter: kelly lost his own son when he stepped on a land mine in afghanistan in 2010, something he doesn't talk about often. >> my son's case in afghanistan, when he died he was surrounded by the best men on this earth.

weinstein made several advances at her over a period of time and in one instance wanted her to give him a massage in his bedroom telling her if she wanted to be an actress she had to be willing to do that sort of thing. weinstein eventually apologized for his behavior. nyongo wrote, i said thank you and left it at that. but i made a quiet promise to myself to never ever work with harvey weinstein. southwest promoting its first unmanned flight. an all-female crew from the flight attendants to the pilots. so not unmanned in the sense of no one is at the helm, not autonomous, it's just there's no men. the airline tweet this had photo c collage. according to the nonprofit women in aviation only 6.7% of pilots are female. i love it. go, girls. >> go, ladies.

it appears target wants a open another new store in san francisco. the retail giant has filed an application with the planning department to open a store on folsom and 13th street, the site of the former sports authority store which has been empty since last year. target currently has five stores in san francisco. this new store would include a cvs drugstore and a starbucks. maybe you need a ride to get to that target, a sneak peek of apple's project. >> notice the unusual looking roof. we're told the reason is likely due to the majority of the car's equipment being on the ceiling as opposed in the trunk like in many other self-driving vehicles. the man who shot the video works for a company developing self-driving taxis. >> it looks like a space ship. >> yeah. well, a lot of those self-driving cars do. uber did, also. >> the idea of self-driving cars is still a little alien to me.

that is the sound of a new rocket engine being tested by nasa in mississippi. ths engine is designed to work with the spacecraft orion. before that the engine will power orion on a test mission thousands of miles beyond the moon over the course of about a three-week period. orion will return to earth and splash down in the pacific. let's talk about what's going on out at the coast. some dangerous surf out there and as you can see it's 15 to 17 feet. this will continue through 6:00 today. you need to be careful if you're going out there. winds up to 25 feet. can't guarantee a win from the
