solid stretch of traffic from solid stretch of traffic from san lor enso we'll check back on the fatal accident in santa rosa in a few minutes as well. good news to share about the fires in the north bay. more than 90% contained. seeing how the community is coming together. including this way. people going out to eat to raise money for people who survived the fires. last night more than 3 dozen restaurants in the north bay participated in a dine and donate fundraiser. the restaurant donating 20% of proceeds to fire victims. there's a line out the door. everybody is here in a good mood and wanted wants to support an they can. >> it's a wonderful idea. shows how people are trying to ban together and do good thimng for the folks

disturbing incidents. include an african-american forced off a flight and african-american woman who purchased two first class tickets and was moved to coach while her white companion was allowed to stay in first class. naacp says these examples and a couple of others suggest racial bias and cannot be dismissed as normal or random. >> it's an unfortunate thing that this is happening to a certain set of people. >> american airlines responded to the advisory with an invitation to the naacp to meet saying we are committed to having a meaningful dialogue about our airline and are ready to both listen and engage. no word on when that meeting will take place. live at s fo colin kaepernick dropping his story tole publishers.

wearing as a news man today, i did bring a tie. let's see if this will work for me here. little more respectable? >> you also look respectable. the christmas decorations, not emotionally prepared for that yet. i know, i see it. it's hard to believe, but i see it. turning now to a serious story. developing news. all lanes have reopened on interstate 880 in fremont following a fatal crash there. suv smashed into the center divide. caught fire after 2:00 a.m. one person was killed in that crash. the roadway was cleared just before 4:30 this morning. and developing news this morning, an oakland police officer recovering now after being hurt in a hit-and-run accident. investigators say a suspect driver hit the officer's vehicle last night at # 96 avenue and sunny side street. police have not announced any arrests. one officer did tell abc 7 news he thinking the officer will be okay. >> now, a live desk update from

abc 7 mornings. >> from the live desk, more back and forth sniping this morning between president trump and two republican senators. in a speech yesterday announcing retirement, jeff flake of arizona said it was time to fight back against the level of thought that goes into 140 characters. a level that undermines american norms and values. this morning on good morning america, senator flake repeated that enough is enough. >> those of us who had hoped for a pivot agree now it's not just going to come. it's up to us to stand up and say this is not acceptable. >> meanwhile, this morning, the president tweeted this: the reason flake and corker dropped out of the senate race is very simple. they had zero chance of being elected. now act so hurt and wounded. developing news in louisiana, two men are dead. manhunt underway following a campus shooting. happened earlier this morning. thortd

authorities have not found the shooter. police do not believe is a student. started as some sort of argument or fight in a dorm room on campus overnight and led up to the shooting in a courtyard. the university identifies the victims as a student and his friend and both men were 23. testimony set to continue in san francisco this morning in the murder trial for the man accused of killing skate steinly. forensic investigator will be on the stand. a woman testified she saw garcia staring at people and laughing minutes before the gunfire. two other women described how they heard the gunfire from the hotel room and saw garcia walking away from the scene. defense attorneys aren't disputing he handled the gun. they say it went off in his hands when he picked it up. turn to north bay wildfires.

santa rosa city leaders passed ordnance. r saving residents as much money as possible. waived all permit fees for demolition and temporary housing. approved homeowners to temporarily stay on burnt property during construction in a trailer or rv. we need to keep our citizens here and give them safety and shelter as the winter months come. all evacuees are expected to return home by week. meanwhile tonight, restaurants will help raise money for the north bay fire relief fund. last night, 37 restaurants in north bay took part in the dine and donate fundraiser. restaurants are donating 20% of proceeds to fire victims and you'll find a list of tonight's restaurants on our website, abc 7 news.com.

meanwhile, napa county fire association posted this photo on facebook thanking the oakland raiders for donating $5,000 in gift cards to the napa police and firefighters. the gift cards will be going to people affected by the fires. repairs and maintenance jobs are completed past their due date more than any other utility in the entire state. that according to audit by safety experts from the california public safety commission. found more than 3500 maintenance and repair jobs that had been finished past their scheduled due dates. they say its decision to undertake more repair projects resulted in the higher number of late repairs. getting ready for the sale of recreational marijuana in the new year. the santa cruz board of supervisors voted unanimously yesterday to approve the sale of weed. 12 licensed dispensaries in the county that currently sell medical marijuana can begin selling it recreationally on

the naacp says african-american americans should exercise caution when booking and boarding flights on american airlines. at sfo with details. >> reporter: the naacp says they are monitoring a pattern of disturbing incidents that passengers have reported on american airlines over the past few months. one of those incidents was an african-american man forced off a flight after interacting with two white passengers. and another was an african-american woman who purchased two first class tickets and was moved to coach while her excite companion was allowed to stay in first class. this morning, passengers say they will keep the advisory in mind when they fly on american. >> just to be aware of it when you're flying i think is important. you are flying american today. >> yes. >> reporter: american airlines released a statement that reads in part, we are committed to having a meaningf fuful dialogu about our airline and ready to both listen and engage. no word on when the meeting between the naacp and american

airlines will take place. sfo, abc 7 news. if you are a flyer, tomorrow marks the beginning of new screenings procedures on all u.s. bound flights which will probably mean longer weight times. the procedures include stricter passenger screening and also short security interviews. some airlines are advising passengers to arrive as much as three hours early for flights. stricker stricter screening in cabin ban on laptops. uber is starting to charge riders when it takes the driver a few extra minutes to get to you. announced an additional charge if it takes the driver eight minutes or more to reach your pickup location. also higher fees if you make your driver wait for you for more than two minutes. in addition, uber will now include tolls into fairs. this is awe move designed to help drivers who travel longer distances earn more money. speaking of money, here is your
