valley wine train is hosting mayors from the area in an effort to promote the need for local businesses to rebound after the fires. many people don't know just seven of napa's nearly 500 wineries were damaged or lost in the fires. officials say this is usually the height of tourist season, but right now tourism has declined and businesses are struggling. a sonoma county day of remembrance will be held for fire victims and to honor first responders. the press democrat reports during the event a firefighter memorial bell will toll for the 23 victims that died in sonoma county. the event will be held at santa rosa junior college's bailey field from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. a quick update on your weather and traffic as you start your day. good morning, mike. natasha, welcome back. you look nice and well rested. >> well, thank you. >> that's great. hi, everybody, it's thursday. let's take a look and see if it's going to be three for thursday as far as record high temperatures. here we look from our east bay hills camera. you can see no sign of the

marine layer nor its cooling effects. we're at 57 to 60 at 7:00 this morning. look at that quick warming, already 73 at the coast, by noon, 79 around the bay. 81 inland. we'll have a slight dip today, maybe a degree or two that's just enough to keep us from setting any records but we'll sure be close. 73 at the coast. it's still in the mid-70s at 7:00 for the rest of us. we'll take a look at your weekend forecast up next. here's sue. good morning. we go to marin county where if you're traveling southbound, this is the golden gate bridge and it's looking great. further to the north through the robin williams tunnel, the lights are out in the tunnel as are the street lights all the way on the southbound side from the tunnel to the bridge. as you can see the bridge lights are on just fine but there is a power outage to the north of the golden gate bridge, and it's pretty dark out there. you may want to use your brights as you come through that tunnel. here we go with the bay bridge toll plaza. a few folks stacked up to pay

brutality. others from across the nation say they want to create a more understanding and safer america, a pledge includes four issues including working with lawmakers, banning bump stocks that allow the conversion of semiautomatic weapons into automatic weapons. they want to advocate for more mental health services. partner with pro sports teams, corporations, churches to promote and distribute public service announcements designed to improve police and community relations. and to engage in a constructive dialogue around issues critical to improving the health and welfare of all residents. the pledge signing is scheduled to take place at 11:45 this morning. reporting live in santa clara, matt keller, abc 7 news. matt, thank you. on to developing news in san jose. police are searching for two suspects wanted in connection with a deadly shooting as well as a statewide brothel ring. >> police release this had surveillance video of the men they are looking for. linking them to a homicide in

san jose last month as well as sexual assaults and robberies in milpitas, fremont and south san francisco. the crime scenes were all brothels. news that a brothel was operating in a san jose neighborhood did not come as a surprise to people who live there. >> i've heard from neighbors that there are hookers working in some of the apartments. i was disappointed that the apartment didn't do a better job screening residents and people who rented those units. >> police arrested three other suspects last week in southern california. investigators believe there could be more robbery or assault victims, and they're asking them to come forward. >> witnesses are telling us what they saw during a shoot-out outside an air bnb home in a quiet san francisco neighborhood. the listing has been removed but the neighborhood is still rattled. abc 7 news reporter lilian kim has the details. >> reporter: bullet holes are everywhere, on cars, windows, and homes. it was the result of a party on october 14th that got out of

hand -- a party hosted by renters of the house they found on air bnb. >> automatic gunfire broke out from there, so i jumped back in the house. >> reporter: ann golden lives next door. she and her neighbors are still shaken after having witnessed a gun battle right in front of their homes. >> i did not see what my neighbors saw which was two young men with hands guns firing in that direction. >> it sounds terrifying. >> reporter: hillary ronan informed the community the property owner who lives overseas has been banned from short-term rental sites and air bnb promises to pay for all property damage. as for the possibility this will happen again on another property ronan says chances are slim. unregistered rentals including properties with absentee landlords are being pulled out of the system, a process that should conclude in january. >> a neighborhood is a residential. it shouldn't be filled with mini hotels. >> reporter: neighbors, meanwhile, are told if they see something, say something. >> we'll keep an eye out and try

to make sure things are on the up and up and do the best we can. >> reporter: as for the shooting police say they've made no arrests but are still investigating. in san francisco, lilian kim, abc 7 news. it's 4:36 now. three san francisco public schools have high levels of lead in the water according to tests by the school district including two elementary schools, west portal and malcolm x as well as san francisco international high school. in all, 72 schools were tested. the district says the source of lead is the drinking fixtures which will be replaced. you can go to our website for a full list of schools that have and have not been tested. representatives from three major tech companies are headed to capitol hill next week to testify in the ongoing probe into russian interference in the 2016 election. high-ranking officials from google, facebook, and twitter will appear before the senate intelligence committee. the chairman says the witnesses will address social media's influence in the elections and what steps the companies are taking to blunt foreign interference in 2018.

in the south bay the vta stepped up testing along the ten-mile b.a.r.t. extension. you will look at video of trains being tested between fremont and san jose. officials say the public will see and hear multicar trains traveling on that extension. testing will happen every day of the week except for sunday. silicon valley service expected to start some time next year. a much quieter night up in our hills and that's why a lot of us are cooler this morning than yesterday morning. look at these gusts, less than 10 miles per hour at all elevations above 1,000 feet. let's take a look at what's going on in san francisco. we have temperatures all over the place from ocean beach at 56 to lake merced along with crissy field. west portal, 63. it gets warmer around castro, mission, glenn park, marina, financial. let's take a look at what's going on with your commute this morning as we look at the

those taillights headed southbound making the turn towards highway 24 and traffic is flowing nicely on the 680 corridor to the dublin interchange. not a problem at all for about an 18 to 20-minute drive. our maps are looking good. a little bit of slowing out of tracy which is very typical up and over the altamont pass, and some road work here in hayward northbound 880 near highway 92 due to be picked up in about 20 minutes. we'll check back on that in a few minutes. >> thank you, sue. who can forget this image of patients being evacuated from a north bay hospital as those flames got close? the major challenge the hospital now faces. some new bragging rights for uc berkeley. where it stands this morning among the world's top universities. and a man at a

this is breaking international news coming in to our live desk. at least four people are dead following a crash between a military truck and a train in finland. let me show you the pictures we've just gotten in a short moment ago. some soldiers are among the dead. the crash happened about 50 miles southwest of helsinki. several other people were injured and taken to hospitals as well. officials say the train hit the vehicle at a crossing with no security features there. finland's defense minister has now ordered flags at all

military facilities to fly at half-staff today. that's the latest here. natasha? >> jessica, thank you. this unforgettable footage caught by our news crew is a testament to the heroism the night the wildfires started. they were evacuating the kaiser permanente center and it just reopened yesterday. katie utehs has the details. >> reporter: these images of the evacuation of kaiser permanente hospital stick with people. >> it was pretty traumatic. >> reporter: the tubbs fire filled the hospital with smoke. after a thorough cleaning it reopened. >> they seemed very organized. it seemed they almost hadn't been closed at all, were on top of it and welcoming. it's a good feeling. >> reporter: more than 200 kaiser employees lost their homes, but many are happy to be back at work. >> i have a friend who is a nurse and she's really pleased to be back at work. >> reporter: but how long will

temporary housing sustain doctors, many of whom lost homes in the fountaingrove neighborhood near the hospital. >> there comes a point a long commute isn't viable anymore. >> reporter: santa rosa memorial hospital is actively meeting with stakeholders to discuss rebuilding after 152 of their people lost homes. it'll be a long process. cleanup alone could go into 2018. so far no one has left the hospital, and many locals plan to stay. >> i wouldn't have figured it, but i'm more loyal than ever before. >> reporter: he hopes the county's medical professionals will be, too, as they face the challenges of providing care in the years to come. in santa rosa, katie utehs, abc 7 news. it is 4:44. friday's junior varsity football game at antioch high school has been canceled after several players were accused of sexual harassment and bullying. the allegations surfaced when the players were accused of saying profane and vulgar comments to female students.

the players have been suspended. friday's game against deer valley was supposed to be homecoming for antioch high. attorney gloria allred is demanding the harvey weinstein company pay out to the victims. another actress came forward with allegations of sexual assault. she says that he raped her in her hotel room in 2008. she is one of at least half a dozen women to allege they were sexually assaulted by him. some 50 other actresses claim they were harassed. and this morning actress ashley judd will talk about the allegations she made, her first interview will be with diane sawyer. you can see that exclusive interview beginning on "gma" starting at 7:00 a.m. uc berkeley regained its distinction as the top-ranked public university. cal ranks fourth overall in the 2018 best global university's rankings which were released yesterday by "u.s. news & world

we'll have temperatures from 82 in milbrae to san mateo to upper 80s for the rest of the peninsula. upper 70s along the coast today. low to mid-80s in downtown and south san francisco and sausalito once again. mid to upper 80s through the north bay and up around santa rosa and clover dale. 90s for you. 83 in berkeley to about 86 in richmond and hercules. castro valley, 87. as we move into the east bay valleys we have upper 80s to near 90 from 87 in san ramone, walnut creek, fairfield to brett wood at 91. let's see what happens tonight if you can sleep better. we keep taking these temperatures down just a little bit and you notice we're in the low to upper 50s. a few 40s around santa rosa and napa and a few clouds along the coast. could be some fog there tomorrow morning. our pattern will hold through friday. breezes will start to shift but they'll come onshore and that's when you see the dramatic drop. halloween tuesday into

wednesday. saturday of next week for a chance of wet weather. i'll show that you up next. sue? we take you outside right now. the headlights northbound at the 880 over crossing and everybody is moving nicely for your thursday morning across town to 280 and the 17/880 over crossing. just a few headlights in the orthbound direction up towards cupertino for about an eight-minute drive from san jose in the valley towards cupertino. a look at our overall traffic map. some slowing over the pass which is fairly typical. we do have some road work. we zoom in on cool 3d camera to get you the exact same volume that's on the streets right now. northbound 880 near 92. i'm not seeing any slowing and that road work should pick up in about ten minutes. we'll look at some of your drive times in a few minutes and also ace train number one leaving on time out of stockton for your early morning commute. back in a few.

take a close look at the surveillance video from the kings jewellers on north california boulevard and walnut creek. the man poses as a customer trying out the ring when he suddenly darts out of the store. there he goes. he gets into a two-door green saturn. if you have any information call walnut creek pd. orange county deputies injured in las vegas concert massacre have been denied workers comp. california's labor says public agencies must pay benefits when off-duty officers try to save lives or property in the state. it does not mention out-of-state activities. officials interpreted that to mean they cannot pay for physical or psychological injuries that its deputies sustained in vegas. at least half a dozen others are facing similar claims. experts say that could lead to lawsuits being filed. happening today the government will release tens of thousands of classified documents about the assassination of president john f. kennedy.
