you have the remaining slow traffic along the span as well. this accident in millbrae still southbound 101 out there for about an hour. car with a tire stuck underneath it. they have police on scene and the tow truck is on the way. a look at drive times out of the central valley. highway 4 from antioch to concord just under 25 minutes. and from marin, san rafael into san francisco under 20 minutes there as well. long stretch of signals out along highway 4 near discovery bay. >> sue, thank you. breaking news from san jose. a live picture from a kfc restaurant. it burst into flames around 4:30 this morning. you see firefighters have a large presence there. they were able to knock down the flames and are now conducting an investigation. now here is what it looked like earlier. fire officials say this is somewhat unusual because the fire appears to have started in the dining area not in the kitchen. cropley avenue between lakewood drive and north capital avenue still closed until further notice. new at 6:00 a.m., two people

yesterday and the full board is scheduled to vote next week. a south bay firefighter couldn't agree more with president trump's declaration that the nation's opioid crisis is a nationwide public health emergency. the captain is on medical leave from the fire department. he's had three surgeries since april. he says he was given opioids for the pain and later realized it turned him into a drug dealer. >> i found out about august that a teenaged boy who had been in my house had stolen some of them. >> he no longer needs his medication so he'll take advantage of national prescription drug takeback day from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. saturday people can take their pills to almost any law enforcement agency or fire station for free and safe disposal so they don't end up in the water supply or in the wrong hands. a move by a california court means a peninsula beach involved in a years long legal battle will stay open.

okay, listen up, if you have a ford fusion a national investigation under way after complaints the steering wheels can come loose. the ntsb says one driver complained the wheel completely detached from the steering column. two other people have complained the wheel came loose and they got it tightened at a repair shop. the probe now covers more than 841,000 sedans specifically for model years 2014 to 2016. the good news is so far no injuries or crashes reported from this problem. still no recall has been issued but, of course, we're watching for that. this could happen some time soon. trying to filter into the north bay just a little bit. we do have 50 at novato. 52 to 61 and 6 0 in san jose.

it's 6:14. a fire beneath one of muni's historic street cars startled commuters in downtown san francisco. muni says the street car itself didn't catch fire. what you're watching are flames coming from a moat rise the skateboard. the rider fell off and the board rolled underneath the street car. nobody got hurt. muni took the car out of service to be checked for damage. the national archives released more than 2,800 previously classified or redacted documents last night. the files add to the mystery in 1963. this disputes claims that assassin lee harvey oswald was an informant. >> i would like to think that these documents would be a final answer. realistically that will never

capital avenue, but firefighters are doing their job. they put this fire out here at this kfc. they're now looking for hot spots and putting some water on any places they see a little bit of smoke coming out of the area. check out the flames from earlier this morning around 4:30. this fire was going. so firefighters called for two alarms. they were able to get it under control just after 5:00. they went in the building after to make sure the fire wasn't smoldering in the ceiling attic space. this was an unusual time for a fire to start, the middle of the night, and not in the kitchen. >> it was unoccupied at the time. there were no people displaced, and the business was not in action. so the only concerns is the fire did start in the dining area, which is somewhat unusual. we're investigating origin and cause. >> reporter: no other buildings or homes in the area damaged this is obviously going to have an impact on the people who work here. firefighters are starting to pick up some of their equipment but we're seeing firefighters here that will remain on the

and called police. the suspect's car was later stopped for an unrelated traffic violation. police say the driver was arrested for impersonating a police officer. another man arrested for contributing to the delinquency of a minor and two juveniles detained. santa cruz will be releasing information about a possible arrest in the bear fire. >> the sheriff's office is preparing to arrest the person believed to have started it. cal fire says first responders immediately knew the fire was suspicious. the agency also announced the bear fire is fully contained now. it burned just under 400 acres near the town of boulder creek. >> full containment expected on the fires burning in napa and sonoma counties. >> the latest report has the nuns fire at 94% containment. the atlas fire, 98% contained. the tubbs fire, which burned between cal stistoga >> southern california crews battling a 350-acre wildfire.

look at these flames. the "l.a. times" reports an 18-year-old motorcyclist crashed into a tree sparking the fire yesterday afternoon in the cleveland national forest. the forest located northeast of san diego. the motorcyclist had only minor injuries. there are a handful of homes now evacuated. >> it's a little unnerving. you have to respect all the fires happening in napa and all around. there's so much that's been going on lately. keeping that in mind, how fast that went through. we're not being dumb but we don't want to be over panicked at the same time. >> right now the fire is only 15% contained. >> 6:36 now. testimony is set to resume in the trial of the man charged with the murder of kate steinle. the federal park ranger whose stolen gun killed her took the stand yesterday. john woychowski says he felt it was safe leaving a backpack containing the weapon inside of an suv while he had dinner. someone stole the backpack along with some clothing. defense attorneys claim the gun went off accidentally after

in a few minutes. >> doesn't it seem sometimes people are never paying to get on b.a.r.t.? i see it all the time when i ride the trains. b.a.r.t. says it's about to play hardball. last night the board of directors voted to start a proof of payment system. that means riders will be required to show tickets to fare inspectors or police in an attempt to cut into the estimated $25 million the agency says it loses every year to fare evaders. one example of the problem, an automated camera at the embarcadero station caught 600 people sneaking into b.a.r.t. free on a single day. >> wow. happening today the golden gate bridge district board set to vote on reconstruction of $11 million sausalito ferry terminal. a committee voted to approve construction and the full board will discuss today. so as the plan stands now reconstruction would include a six-foot-tall rail. it will be widened to 12 feet, more than twice its current width. cal trans will bring down two more of the piers.
