70s in our inland valleys. still cool at the coast and we still have our beach hazard statement through 9:00 tonight. carolyn? thank you, lisa. breaking this morning, firefighters in san francisco say one person is dead after a house fire near mt. davidson. another person who was rescued is expected to survive. officials say this fire began around 4:00 this morning at a two-story home on molemo drive near taracita boulevard. firefighters were able to contain it two hours later. the cause is under investigation. breaking news in discovery bay. deputies are investigating a deadly shooting on keats court near wild drive. the contra costa sheriff's office responded to several calls about a disturbance and a shooting around 1:00 this morning. a lieutenant says they found a man who was shot on the street, neighbors trying to give him cpr. paramedics tried to treat the man but he later died. right now deputies do not have a description of a suspect.

anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office. developing news this morning. san francisco police are searching for a stabbing suspect. they say someone attacked a man near the paolo street bart station around 6:00 last night. abc news was near eddie street where paramedics blocked off the street with tape. you can see a monduni bus at th center of the stabbing scene. the victim was taken to the hospital. no word on his condition. a halloween costume out of style since the civil rights movement makes a controversial comeback at an east bay staples store. one customer says he was speechless after seeing an employee dressed in blackface. abc 7 reporter lonnie rivera has the story. >> ma'am, where are the cash registers? she turned around and i saw this

white lady in blackface. >> harriet laphal was offended by this employee's halloween costume at the pleasant hill staples store. >> that lady over there, i pointed to her, i said, is in blackface. and as a black man, i am very offended. >> reporter: and her reply? >> she said it was a sharpie costume. i said, sharpie or no sharpie, as a black man to see a white person in blackface is very offensive. >> reporter: blackface is a form of theatrical makeup used by white performers to portray black people in the 1800s up until the civil rights movement. >> the nervous giggle in the store, you know, i felt like it was making fun of african-americans. >> harold left staples frustrated. he said he sat in his car for a few minutes but he couldn't leave. >> i met with the manager and he

said, i know what happened and they already told me. i said, what made you think that was okay? zt st >> staples said the employee works for a third-party company who contracts with staples stores. staples said, the question, staples apologizes to any customers that were offended in the store, as well as those that may have viewed a photo on social media. >> a company that doesn't have a level of sensitivity to the struggle of the people that is a large part of their customer base is not a cpany i'm going to support. >> reporter: the woman removed her costume that day. she is no longer working at the store and the company's hr team is now investigating. lonnie rivera, abc 7 news. a group of about 200 motorcycle riders terrorize drivers all around the east bay, performing side shows, popping wheelies, speeding and driving recklessly.

a viewer shared this video from downtown hayward just before 1:00 in the afternoon. a truck was following the bikers and filming them on interstate 880. they also rode through oakland along the san mateo bridge on 580 and into castro valley. the chp says several motorcyclists refused to pull over and drove away recklessly at high speeds. at least five people have been arrested. a unique program in the north bay is helping fire victims. a local nurse is pairing families in need with families who want to help. the one-on-one attention is changing lives. abc 7 news reporter lisa mangalesian has the story from sonoma county. >> there's teen clothes, this one is marked teen clothes also. there's women's for you. >> reporter: these days it's nonstop at carrie boyson's house. she's one of the volunteer

coordinators which means she's matching fire victims with specific families who are willing and able to donate now. >> so we have gloria and her husband and her two little boys. >> reporter: katherine raymond just dropped off three carloads of donated items for three families in need evacuated to sebastiapol. >> it was kind of like christmas. it was extraordinary to see box after box come out of the car. >> reporter: this program was tailored to give nothing but the things they need. like a camera for extra wide shoes because starting over is hard enough. >> there was a steel beam that was our garage frame that's twisted and there's nothing left. >> reporter: still, this family is asking for very little. >> this is new. >> reporter: barely the basics. >> i think it's really great that people are, like, giving. >> reporter: rising from the ashes of the north bay fires is a strong sense of appreciation and an even stronger sense of compassion.

league baseball player to kneel during the national anthem. server at a huntsville, alabama restaurant refused to serve him because of his national anthem protest. the houston texans are planning to protest before the national anthem before the game in seattle. our sister network tells us that 55 to 70% of the team's players could kneel. as you know, owner bob income anywhere used the term inmate to describe players kneeling for the national anthem. tom clay bourne has more. >> reporter: the nfl rocked again. this time by owner bob mcnair's comments about players who kneel in protest during the national anthem. mcnair told fellow owners last week, we can't have the inmates running the prison.

>> it didn't have to be said. it's horrible. >> reporter: his words sending shock waves through the texans organization. last week deandre hopkins walked out of practice. saturday mcnair met with players to apologize, releasing a public statement saying, i never meant to offend anyone and i was not referring to our players. i used a figure of speech that was never intended to be taken literally. but the 79-year-old's apology falling short for some. seattle seahawks richard shannon said, don't apologize. you meant what you said. and jayvon green said, for starters, let's stop using the word "owner" and start using the word "chairman." >> the owners can't figure out that the players care about these issues and the issues

aren't going away. >> reporter: the texans boarded a plane ahead of a game today with the seahawks. the texans coach supporting his players. ron claybourne, abc news, new york. >> they are trying to set up a meeting to discuss all of this over protests and the league's response. colin kaepernick and roger goodell and houston owners bob mcnair have been invited to attend a meeting tomorrow. kaepernick, as you know, was the first player to kneel or sit in direct protest of racial injustice and police brutality. the player's commission says they want the league to commit to listening to the players' grievances. damages from february's torrential rain and flooding is getting patched up thanks to volunteers. abc 7 was at golden wheel mobile

home park in san jose when an army of helping hands hammered, patched and eupparetebuilindingd. silicon valley is helping fix up 38 homes and two non-profits. residents at this home lost a car and mobility scooter and the foundation of the home was damaged. >> they've done a tremendous amount of stuff. we got a new furnace, all new concrete in front of the house because it was buckled. they're building a deck. we're just kind of overwhelmed. >> rebuilding silicon valley focuses on helping veterans, seniors and people with disabilities. a man and a woman from monterey county are accused of looting in the north bay fire zone. santa rosa police arrested shawn craniak and christina marsh after someone saw them take a large-screen tv. police led them on a high speed

chase after ditching their stolen truck and trying to run away. officers said they found other stolen items in the pickup. the suspects have no ties to sonoma county. yesterday quite an emotional day of remembrance for victims of the north bay wildfires. hundreds of people came out to a ceremony to honor fire victims and first responders. abc 7 news reporter cornell bernard has the story. >> reporter: bagpipes play to honor a community still fragile and grieving. >> the night of october 8th, we were all tested. all of us were tested, the community, the fire service, law enforcement. >> reporter: this was a day of remembrance, a chance for sonoma county to reflect on what was lost. >> i don't even know what it feels like to lose a home or lose a loved one in a fire, but i know there is a lot of people in our community dealing with that and they're going to be dealing with that for a long time. >> reporter: pastor billy andre lost his home in the fires. he got his family out and

grabbed one photo album. >> and as i opened them up, i realized they were empty. we thought we had all the time in the world to put those pictures in those photo albums. >> getting my children out safely was, you know, emotional. >> reporter: angelique and her son made the sign to thank the first responders who put their lives on the line. > without them our city would be gone. >> reporter: throughout the ceremony, the crowd gave first responders standing ovations. many say since the fire, the santa rosa community has become one. >> honestly, i've never seen a community come together so good. i mean, true, we are sonoma strong. >> reporter: a fire bell was rung 42 times for those lives lost. representative nancy pelosi said she promises swift federal funds for victims. >> so many people mourn their loss and are praying for them, but not only that, going to act upon it. >> reporter: a resilient

community fighting their way back if tragedy. in santa rosa, cornell bernard, abc 7 news. a winery in monterey county is raising money tonight to help wildfire victims in the north bay. you can enjoy food and drinks at the hallowine fire benefit at the folktail winery & vin yards. there are prizes. it costs $60. all the proceeds will go to ca wine strong. that's a profit foundation to help the victims. one last chance to score for wildfire victims at tonight's game. the shooting guard plans to donate $1,000 for every point for three games. so far he's raised $40,000. he scored 22 points against toronto and then followed up with 18 points against friday night's game against the wizards. tonight's game agains the detroit pistons begins at 5:30

at oracle arena. good morning, everyone. well, we waited until about the last couple days of the month to get a nice fall forecast. because, you know, it's cooler and it is so gray out there. live doppler 7 right now, the fog has made it all the way inland. it's going to take some time to clear as well. two-mile visibility is an improvement from petaluma. three quarters a mile in santa rosa. this is walnut creek this morning. 53 here, 56 in mountain view, 57 san jose. look at the high clouds here from mt. tam. we'll see more of those, so we'll go from cloudy to partly cloudy today. i think it's going to take past 11:00 until we see some sunshine across the bay. 49 in santa rosa, 56 by the delta and concord, with 53 in livermore. we are looking at this pattern to stay put for the next several days. the fog will mix out late tomorrow but we'll get some

drizzle in here as well. emeryville, lots of gray out there. dry and mild for halloween and looking for a wet pattern late in the week. we will be looking at the coolest day -- one of the coolest days tomorrow as the system passes overhead. we'll see numbers in the 60s. even some coastal drizzles possible into halloween morning, but by the afternoon we're slightly warmer, we're dry, we're sunny, and this carries over into wednesday. so temperatures seasonal but below average for your monday. the storm impact scale, by the end of the week, it's a 1. friday and saturday, we begin with the rain on friday. it could mess up your morning commute here. you can see how wet it is, and this is friday night. how about your evening commute as well? then if you're wakingp early on saturday, this is when we could have more downpours into 11:00 saturday night. this all changes into snow in the sierra nevada and we're looking at amounts here. pretty impressive. over an inch on saturday, maybe an inch and a quarter up well to

michelin stars. ellen ford of eater s.f. has a lot of talented chefs. >> we have three more 3-star restaurants than new york city. >> he had to wait two weeks to find out if he was keeping that coveted rating. as fire tore through wine country, michelin decided to delay the choice. >> people couldn't be thinking about restaurant ratings while these fires were going on. >> reporter: not only that, but fires threatened the various farms these restaurants were coming from. now with the fires contained -- >> tourists need to know things are still going and support those restaurants. >> reporter: just a block away from his 3-star kitchen, corey lee is picking up another michelin star for his institute

from last night's $40 million powerball drawing. 27, 35, 38, 57, 66. the powerball number 10. no one got all six numbers. wednesday night's jackpot now goes up to $52 million. happening now, people dressed up in their halloween costumes are running the costume dash 5k. it's an annual run through golden gate park that attracts thousands of people each year. here are some photos from last year's race. runners will hang out in the park after the 5k for a party and a costume contest. i guess they'll have sweaters or jackets or something like that today. >> don't need the sunglasses.
