stephanopoul stephanopoulos. okay, we don't have that sound. we're working on getting that for you. manafort was fired shortly after the republican convention because of questions about his dealings with russia. so he was certainly a big player in the trump campaign, and there have been questions swirling about his involvement in europe, in ukraine, and with russia for a long time now. also important to note that this morning also indicted was rick gates, a manafort business associate as well as a member of the trump campaign team and i was just looking at my computer, i do have an update here, the associated press is now reporting that gates has also turned himself in. i'm working on getting images. there's a lot happening in the news this morning. i'm tracking all of that at our live desk for you throughout the morning. >> so far we don't know what the charges are so we're still waiting to hear that and how this could then be combined with other possible charges in the

traffic is stacking back to morgan hill so that's a real grind. up to the east shore freeway -- actually a new accident now in oakland, northbound 880. apparently a couple of lanes are blocked there and a vehicle is facing the wrong way. again blgs, we are starting to see with the sensors building and slow traffic you might want to take 580 to avoid this. we'll update these and more in a few minutes. >> sue, thank you. >> we're so sorry to hear this. the family of a teenager from redwood valley confirms she has died. they say a ct scan showed she did not have brain activity. severe burns in the redwood valley fire in mendocino county. that fire burned more than 36,000 acres, fully contained on friday. we should note the family was trying to escape their home and were not able to get out fast enough. her parents are still in the hospital with major burns to their body and their 14-year-old

yesterday morning. police say a group of men and one woman in their late teens or early 20s were riding through the neighborhood in two cars. a disturbance over speeding may have led to a confrontation with one of the drivers. >> from what i heard the gentleman had thrown a cup of ice at him and said slow down. they made a round around the block, came back and shot him. >> the sheriff's department is now looking for a newer gray dodge challenger or ford mustang and red mitsubishi eclipse. police are reviewing video, possibly captured by home security cameras. the head of puerto rico's power company says the agency will scrap $300 million contract with whitefish energy once it finishes its current work. most of puerto rico remains without power since hurricane maria and some question whether whitefish energy with just two full-time employees can actually handle the job. whitefish energy says the move will delay restoring power in

puerto rico quickly. new details about hilltop mall. east bay times obtained renderings. the new owners say the shopping center could have a whole new look. this includes a movie theater, a live theater, grocery store, food hall, and up to 40 restaurants. they are changing the name to the shops at hilltop. the mall went into foreclosure about four years ago. city officials hope the developer could breathe some new life into the shopping center which has struggled to keep tenants. elon musk shared a pic of what he hopes is a fix to l.a.'s notorious traffic. this is our first image of the tunnel that is being bored between spacex's hawthorne headquarters, creating a hyper loop beneath the city which will shuttle cars at high speeds. the digging began over the summer and the title already about 500 feet long. donna karan breaking her silence this morning. how she's explaining controversial comments she made about the women accusing harvey weinstein of assault. plus, why the city of san

accused of killing kate steinle. >> amy hollyfield live in san francisco. amy? >> reporter: hi, reggie. the big question for this jury is going to be was this shooting intenti intentional? was it second-degree murder? the man on trial for the shoot something jose ines garcia zarate. his defense attorney says the gun accidentally went off and fired at kate steinle. she was killed two years ago while walking along san francisco's embarcadero with her father. garcia zarate says he found the gun under a park bench. the gun belonged to park ranger john woychowski. he testified it was stolen out of his car. he told the jury he felt comfortable leaving it in his car along the wet lit embarcadero while having din wer his family. today the second week of this high-profile trial. if convicted he will face 15 years to life in prison. reporting live, amy hollyfield,

manafort has been indicted along with rick gates, and we just got a list of those charges from abc news. i want to show you them on screen. there are 12 counts, conspiracy against the united states, conspiracy to launder money, being an unregistered agent of a foreign principal, false statements and several counts of failure to report foreign banks and financial accounts. we weren't sure of the charges earlier when we first heard the breaking news. those are the charges that came down within just the last few minutes. stay with us as we continue to update this ongoing breaking news story. we will have much more coming up at 6:30. >> jess, thank you for the update. scientists will study the brain of las vegas mass gun shatter stephen paddock. he killed 58 people wounding more than 500 others on october 1st. month. accusations against harvey weinstein are piling up. three more actresses have come forward with new claims. in a new yorker article sopranos actress said the movie mogul violently raped her in the early 1990s. daryl hannah, you know her from "splash" says in the early 2000s she had to push a dresser in front of the hotel room to keep weinstein from getting in. and rose mcgowan is saying weinstein offered her a million dollars in hush money the day before "the new york times" published its incriminating expose. reggie, i've been watching the story from the live desk, too. you may remember after this weinstein bombshell exploded fashion designer donna karan made comments that seemingly backed the mogul. she suggested women who dress provocatively might be, quote, asking for it. karan received a lot of backlash and in an exclusive interview with robin roberts karan apologized and said why she made

closed indefinitely, riebli and schaefer elementary located in the middle of the devastation. those students have been moved to other nearby schools. 6:37 now. the tubbs, nuns, and pocket fires are 98% contained this morning. cal fire expects full containment this week. the arrest of this man and woman accused of looting in santa rosa. this happened saturday night. the man gave a fake name. they discovered he's jonathan leon lee connor from monterey county. police say he and christina marsh stole a flat screen tv from a damaged area, the overlook apartments, then led police on a high-speed chase in a stolen pickup truck. connor is facing charges of identity theft. cell phone thefts and fights nearly shut down great america during the halloween haunt. park guests shared video of one of the fights and here it is. there were as many as 50 stolen.

associate rick gates indicted on charges in connection to the russia probe. if you are wondering who rick gates is, i want to show you this. gates lesser known than former campaign chairman manafort. but gates played a big role in the trump campaign. he was deputy to manafort and both gates and manafort have ties to some of the same russian and ukrainian that's the reason manafort was let go from the trump team. >> the man accused of killing kate steinle is back in court. amy hollyfield live at the hall of justice in san francisco. >> reporter: week two after closely watched case.

this case drew national attention when it happened. this is whether jose ines garcia zarate intentionally fired a gun at kate steinle two years ago strolling along the embarcadero with her father when she was shot. the jury last heard from the park ranger whose gun was used in the shooting. john woychowski testified his gun informs a backpack in his car and he felt safe leaving it. the car window was smashed and the back pack had been stolen. the defense says garcia zarate found the gun under a bench and accidentally fired it. the gun was later found in the bay by divers from the police department. reporting live in san francisco, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news.
