hospital. he is in critical condition right now. i've been checking for updates. last we heard he does have life-threatening injuries. the suspect is behind bars. the man accused of starting a fire in the cruz mountains heading to court this morning. >> investigators say he is responsible for the bear fire and they say they have witnesses to saw it happen. abc 7 news reporter matt keller is live in the santa cruz mountains this morning. good morning, matt jr good morning, natasha and reggie. these are serious charges. the suspect is facing 14 felonies related to arson and burglary. his first hearing is scheduled for 8:15 this morning here in santa cruz county. sheriffs investigators believe 54-year-old marlon coy set the fire in the area below diane's way near boulder creek based on interviews with three people who saw it happen. they say coy was in a relationship with a woman where the fire originated about you there had been some sort of dispute. he was arrested the day after the fire started not for arson

but because he allegedly stole jewelry from an evacuated home. coy bases five felony counts in connection to the fire and nine felonies for the alleged burglaries. the bear fire destroyed two homes, four outbuildings, five rvs and 17 vehicles. several firefighters were also injured battling the bear fire. reporting live no santa cruz, matt keller, abc 7 news. the tubbs and pocket fires in napa and sonoma counties are expected to be fully contained today. the nuns fire is now 100% contained. most road blocks in sonoma county have been lifted. mandatory evacuation zones are clear. the sonoma county sheriff says residents are transitioning to a new type of life. >> we sent all the agencies that came to help us home. we've released the national guard troops that were here to help us and we've gone back to normal staffing. the shir riff estimates approximately 75 to 100 agencies provided aid. meantime santa rosa police are

still looking for 14 homeless people who were reported missing after the fires. jack london historic park will reopen tomorrow after narrowly escaping the nuns wildfire. according to sf gate the park will be free to the public through the end of the year to give the community a place to respect and recover. president trump is trying to distance himself from his former complain leaders after yesterday's double indictment, the biggest break in the investigation was the revelation that george papadopoulos pleaded guilty to lying to the fbi about his russian contacts. he is the former trump campaign foreign policy adviser. former campaign chairman paul manafort and one time deputy campaign manager rick gates were charged with 12 counts. those charges include conspiracy against the united states and money laundering. both pleaded not guilty to those charges. okay. and natasha, just to follow up on that sorry, abc news chief legal analyst dan abrams appeared on "good morning america" a short time ago and says the focus of the investigation now has to be on the trump campaign officials.

we are learning more about the man killed in discovery bay over the weekend. authorities in contra costa county have identified bradley mccow, they said he died from several gunshot wounds. they believe a group of men and women got into a confrontation over speeding and that led up to the shooting. so far deputies have not made arrests. day six in the trial of joée zarate the man accused of killing kate steinle. a ballistics expert testified in court yesterday, he said zarate fired directly at steinle even though the bullet ricocheted off the ground. prosecutors trying to convince jurors this was no accident. the defense plans to bring in its own crime scene expert to testify. new legal action to protect a homeless encampment in berkley. people on the west side filed an injunction. attorneys representing that grun plan to ask a judge today to

this video of an apparent road rage incident comes from honolulu, the driver of the pickup says he started recording this video after his truck got hit. the video shows that honda hatchback smashing. >> the pickup, at one point it goes in front of the pickup and both vehicles come to a stop. everyone is okay, no one hurt. a witness says this all started when the pickup cut off the honda in the tunnel, no charges have been filed. a tampa florida neighborhood on edge as the search for a serial killer is under way. three people were killed within a ten-day period within a half mile of each other. take a look is he surveillance video of the suspect running away interest one of the crime scenes. police say they are ramping up their presence to try to keep families safe. >> we want those kids to be able to go trick-or-treating safely and we want those families and that neighborhood to know that they are safe and we're there with them. >> officials say the weather

good morning. >> reporter: good morning. we have been telling people at this gas station how smart they are to be here filling up today. it turns out most people don't know about this. this he say they are just here because they need gas. but starting tomorrow it's going to cost even more to fill up your tank. 12 cents more a gallon for gas, 20 cents more for diesel. this money will go toward repairing our roads and some drivers say they are willing to pay for better infrastructure. >> i mean, the roads are bad right now all over the bay area, they're really bad, so 12 cents a gallon isn't going to hurt me too much if they actually do something with the money. that's what i think. >> reporter: the tax was approved in april, it is expected to bring in $5.2 billion a year for road and bridge repairs. and improvements to mass transit. electric car owners you are not going to escape this tax, you willen charged $100 a year to go
