the sierra expected to see snow because of the system. this is a live look at our heavenly mountain camera where some ski resorts are open this weekend, b the manmade version of snow so far. going south in santa cruz, storm clouds hanging over the coastline today. meteorologist mike nicco tracking every part of the bay area. he's here with a look at what the rain is. mike? >> all right, reggie, hi, everybody. he had a little bit this morning as we expected. we're seeing a lull other than scattered showers. .09 in oakland, .04 in fremont. livermore, .03. .04 in fairfield. brentwood, danville, dublin, concord bay, .01. here's a look at live doppler 7. see scattered light rains over the north bay right now. enough to dampen the roads once again. not anything that's going to cause any flooding or debris flows. now as we look into the last couple of hours, you could see that that's mainly where the scattered showers have been.

that's mainly where they're going to be except for the santa cruz mountains for the better part of the next few hours. some of those may leak into the rest of our neighborhoods as we look at future radar here. see they remain mainly green. it's going to be on the light side. it's going to be scattered through the evening hours. tonight through tomorrow night, that's when we'll have the steadier rain. i'll take a look at that. also how much you're going to get in your neighborhood coming up, reggie. >> all right, mike, see you in a few minutes. like the wiper settings on your car, the rain is going to be intermittent. since it always seems like the guy next to you forgot how to drive since it last rained, abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield has good reminders for him, i mean us, i mean him. hi, amy. >> reporter: it's always the other guy, right, reggie? weather right now. the weather overnight, it was light rain. but people still managed to crash into each other and even run off the road. the rain moved in while most commuters were asleep. this downpour hit in berkeley on highway 24 at 3:45 this morning.

highway he scattered showers di last too long, but left behind wet roads for drivers to navigate this morning. >> i would like to say that i was surprised by the number of calls we got this morning but i guess i shouldn't be. >> reporter: chp officer andrew barclay says it was a busy morning in marin county. several calls came into 911. he says most can be blamed on speeding and wet roads. >> it's easy to become complacent, you know, especially after such a long dry spell we've had our summer months, we're getting into really the first rains again of the year so you have people that just don't actively think about it. >> reporter: he took us out to lucas valley road in west marin county. two separate accidents happened this morning. two cars ran off this two-lane road. >> this road connects west marin to highway 101 in san rafael and actually a pretty busy road in the morning. >> reporter: he says he realizes it can catch drivers off guard especially with the timing of this one. he asks that people pause and

like these lining up in san francisco and really all over the world. to be first in the door when apple stores opened this morning. this video just into our newsroom shows the crowd at the flagship store in union square. and in apple's own backyard in palo alto, it was even more of a frenzy thanks to one very special guest. abc 7 news reporter matt keller live at that store. matt, kehl us how this was kicked off this morning. >> reporter: reggie, apple ceo tim cook was actually here earlier when this line was a lot longer. it's getting a lot shorter. people are getting inside. actually, a few people actually waited days to get inside. and be the first ones in the apple store this morning. they all said it was worth it. if you didn't know apple ceo tim cook was at the palo alto store on university avenue this morning -- [ screaming ] -- well, now you know. cathie third in line for the iphone x. it was this picture that was the

real props. >> the top of my bucket list was to get a selfie and meet tim cook. it was well worth a 2 1/2 day wait. >> three, two, one! woo! >> reporter: cook opened up the doors and welcomed everyone inside. online orders and the fact iphones have been around for a while shortened the lines compared to years past. the iphone x has brought back some of the glamour. apple said it's the biggest leap forward since the original iphone. >> it's going to take me a couple days to figure out. >> reporter: the iphone x has a superretina display, facial recognition skills and water and dust resistant. david was first in line tuesday night. >> it's the perfect phone. i love it. i love it. >> reporter: the iphone x is the most expensive iphone in history, starting at $999. david says someone offered him $5,000 to give up his seat. david wasn't sure if it was a serious offer, but either way, he was going to be the first person to get his hands on the iphone x. hand, to be able to open up the

doors, you know, opening up the iphone in an apple store, you can't beat that. >> reporter: if you don't want to come into the store, always buy online. i checked, the apple website says the iphone x will ship in three to four weeks. reporting live in palo alto, matt keller, abc 7 news. >> then you don't get to meet tim cook. okay, matt, thank you. apparently a small group of thieves decided they couldn't wait to get their hands on the iphone x and wanted it for free. three men robbed a u.p.s. truck parked outside san francisco's stones town apple store yesterday. see where the store is on this map. officials say the thieves made off with 314 phones, worth about $370,000. each phone was cataloged with a description and serial number. and there's so much documentation with these phones that a sergeant assigned to the case says it was the fattest police report he's ever seen. the good news is, people who plan to pick up their preordered

phones at that location will still get their devices. the thieves are still on the loose. new this morning, sergeant bowe bergdahl won't go to jail for walking off his post in afghanistan in 2009. he was held captive for taliban allies for five years. a north carolina military judge gave bergdahl a dishonorable discharge, reduced his rank to private, and said that he has to forfeit some pay. after today's hearing, president trump tweeted "the decision on sergeant bergdahl is a complete and total disgrace to our country and our military." gdeveloping news on the deadly terror attack in new york city. iss isis claiming responsibility. prompting new concerns the attacker might have been part of a larger cell. new reports show sayfullo saipov called a friend in the hour before the attack. senior federal officials tell abc news they're going to be questioning the friend later today. saipov has been the point of contact for 23 other uzbeks to get into the u.s. at least one of them has been expelled from the u.s. for

terror concerns. now to a startling look at the way isis is trying to recruit young americans. abc news anchor diane sawyer and "2020" spent more than a year investigating how isis targets and lures young men and women promising adventure and romance. this is part of a primetime special called "isis in america." it airs tonight. this morning i spoke to abc news chief investigative correspondent brian ross. what is it that we're finding out about how we can possibly intervene? >> it's very tough, diane reports on a retired marine captain whose teenage son in the bedroom right next to his was actively communicating with isis recruiters in syria and in fact, went out and killed one person, was preparing to kill more until the father had to turn his son in. >> that is quite a story. you're going to hear from that father tonight. news at 11:00. the person at twitter who temporarily deleted president trump's account wasn't a full-timer. "the new york times" reports via unnamed sources the person responsible was actually a contract employee. the president sent this tweet out saying, "my twitter account was taken down for 11 minutes by a rogue employee. i guess the word must finally be getting out and having an impact." people trying to follow the real donald trump account saw this. the page said his account didn't exist. san francisco-based twitter says a customer support employee who is leaving the company is responsible. and just about 20 minutes ago, twitter says it has now implemented safeguards to prevent this from happening again. they also said, "we won't be able to share all details but we take this seriously and our teams are on it." new this morning, new accusations of sexual harassment on capitol hill. the california lawmakers now talking about their experiences. and helping you shop smarter this holiday season. find out if deals before black friday are worth the rush in

. new this morning, more female members of congress are coming forward with new allegations of sexual harassment on capitol hill. in a brand new story released by the associated press, former california senator barbara boxer, former palm springs congresswoman mary bono, and

current los angeles congresswoman linda sanchez all say they have endured suggestive and lewd comments from fellow congressmen in washington. now, none of them identify the men, but they did say some of them are still serving in congress. last week, in a twitter and youtube post, peninsula congresswoman jackie speier came forward with her story of harassment and asked other female lawmakers to do the same. san rafael police are hoping to crack down on car thefts in the city. so they're giving out these free steering wheel locks known as the club. only to people who buy a honda civic or accord with the model year between 1990 and 1999. police say 290 vehicles have been reported stolen within the city of san rafael in the past year. the most targeted cars are you guessed it, civics and accords. to get your free club, show your current registration proving you own the car and live in san rafael. get ready for the retail rush. i know, it seems early to be talking about this but it's happening. the holiday shopping deals that

skating at san francisco's union square. to celebrate, admission and skate rentals are free all day friday until 11:00 p.m. there will also be free performances and children's activities and on other days, rates range from 13 to 25 bucks. now in the east bay, it's the sixth year for what's known as the little ice rink opening friday night at alameda south shore center. tickets there $7 to $17. both outdoor rinks run until january 15th. another favorite bay area tradition, the san francisco ethnic dance festival. it's launching its 40th year this weekend. you can watch auditions for the festival at the palace of fine arts theater all day saturday and sunday and next weekend, too. tickets are 10 bucks. kids 12 and under are free. or, get your buzz on in berkeley at an event called better beekeeping in the bay area. beekeepers of all levels are invited to learn from the experts about nurturing this critical part of our environment. the bee symposium is $70 but the al media beekeepers association

has free meetings once a month where you can find out if raising bees is for you. it's a honey of a hobby. get it? for details on these events and more go to abc7news.com and we'll link you up with hoodline. now your accuweather forecast with mike nicco. >> let's talk about the storm impact scale. because the heavier rain is still ahead of us. we're under a 1 which is light now through saturday. with that light to moderate rain coming in steadier tonight. tenth of an inch in the south bay, half inch in the north bay. about three quarters to an inch and a quarter in our hills. right now, it's up in the north bay where you're seeing sprinkles from live doppler 7. let's broaden out the picture. let me show you the setup for what's coming in. see this wider band of cloud? that's deeper moisture that's going to hook up with a cold front that's sweeping into the northern part of the state. going to come in during the overnight hours. always easier to get ravrain to during the overnight hours when the temperatures are cooler than during the day. here's a look from sutro tower.

see the golden gate bridge. beautiful there. if you're going to go walking on that, we'll be dodging scattered sprinkles, scattered rain today. steadier rain. mild tonight. the sunday storm really kind of fizzled, other than sprinkles across the north bay, most of us will be dry until until storm comes in wednesday. we have arrival delays into sfo, down to 41 minutes right now. here's a look at your 12 hour day planner. we have areas of rain, temperatures in the low to mid 60s. 60 to 64 at noon. 58 at the coast. about 62 with some random rains at 4:00. those temperatures dropping by 9:00. have a coat. 55 to 59. the steadier rain starts to develop around midnight. 54 to 57. that's pretty much where we'll stay during the overnight hours in the mid 50s. here we go. see the random nature of the green returns. even a little bit of a yellow. notice by 4:00, still pretty scattered out there. if you're heading out this evening, becomes a touch lighter by 7:00. then the next push of moisture starts to come in around 11:00. see some yellows in there. as it hooks up with the cold front and by 8:00, look at that,

front kind of stalls right over the bay area. in the morning. meaning some heavier rain for san francisco and oakland. and then it pushes down to the south by 2:00, 2:30. and then we actually see a little sunshine develop during the afternoon hours. all right. so your rainfall forecast, you can see by the evening commute, it's going to start getting wet. especially north of the bay bridge. by midnight, you can see the rain developing there. there you go, by tomorrow morning, all that rain piling up. now, as far as heading up to tahoe, already seeing some pictures of some snow and some icy conditions on the donner pass. the winter storm warning officially starts at noon. and goes through 11:00 tomorrow evening. my accuweather seven-day forecast, morning rain. the afternoon will be dry. full of sunshine. turn those clocks back, get that extra hour of sleep saturday night into sunday. sunday's looking mostly sunny. low to mid 60s for the 49ers game down at levi stadium at 1:05. we'll have another chance of rain, light on the storm impact scale wednesday and thursday.
