good morning, everyone. i'm carolyn tyler. thanks for joining us on this sunday, november 5. let's start with a quick look at the weather with our meteorologist lisa argen. >> waking up to chilly conditions. it's slowly getting a little bit better, but as we look at live doppler 7, not a lot of fog this morning. we're looking at this system to the north. it's a weak weather front that will sag to the south and bring increasing clouds into the north bay later on today. right now temperatures in the north bay and san francisco are

on the chilly side, but in the south bay, low 50s. mountain view, san jose 54. from our future tower camera you can see it is sunny with low 40s in santa rosa. temperatures coming up out of the 30s today. looking at numbers in the mid-50s by noontime and we're just below average with 50s at the bay. sunny in the afternoons until rain comes back mid-week. a shotgun, a rifle, hundreds of rounds of ammunition all stolen from a deputy's car here in san francisco. they were taken from an off-duty san mateo county erifshs deputy car overnight. here is the latest on the investigation. >> the first is going to be a shotgun. it's a 12-gauge pump action,

blue steel with a brown stock. then the second firearm is a colt ar-4, black in color. there are also 40 mags containing 20 rounds each of 223 that were stolen. >> reporter: friday night san francisco police took a report of a gun and ammunition theft from a san mateo sheriff's deputy. san francisco police tell abc 7 news it happened on 41 jones street in the tenderloin. saturday afternoon, an all-points bulletin from oakland police asked all officers to be on the lookout. >> it's going to be a blue jacket, bulletproof vest. >> reporter: this gun and ammunition theft is one of six in the bay area since november of 2015. the weapon used to kill 32-year-old kate steinle on pier 14 on july 2015 was stolen along

the embarcadero. he testified in court that he felt comfortable leaving his gun in the suv with tinted windows. lonnie rivera, abc 7 news. >> it was just last year that lawmakers passed a requirement of law enforcement to lock their weapons in their vehicles, not the long gun that was stolen friday night. another deputy reported that someone broke into his car and stole his weapon. that deputy has been fired. a stabbing injured a man. it happened around 6:30 last night around the center of performing arts. police say jan neal stabbed another man and continued to attack him, even after officers used a taser on him. the victim was seriously hurt but is in stable condition. the suspect also went to the hospital for treatment and is now in the santa clara county

jail accused of attempted murder. disgraced hollywood producer harvey weinstein could face rape charges in new york city. we spoke exclusively to a bay area woman who used to work at miramax. the woman said she knew weinstein and heard rumors about kevin spacey. >> he is every bit the monster people say he is, bellowing profanities at the top of his lungs, to senior vice presidents, to actresses, to filmmakers. >> reporter: she worked at miramax in the '90s. she caught harvey weinstein's eye working in the mailroom. >> harvey actually suggested i become one of his assistants. >> reporter: she turned down the offer because of the workload. >> there was a terror there. it was frightening.

>> reporter: two decades ago she talked always about weinstein's temper, bullying and not accusations about sexual harrassment and rape. >> we didn't know because we would have stood up for these actresses. >> reporter: actresses are building up their case against weinstein after one actress accused him of assaulting her twice. >> that requires a court order. we want to get our evidence first before we go out and do something like that. >> reporter: weinstein's representative says, quote, any allegations of non-consensual sex are unequivocally denied by mr. weinstein. and in london, a possible criminal investigation into actor kevin spacey. he is accused of assault and of preying on young mal that that, according to hart, was known in the industry.

>> there were some rumors about his misconduct. >> like what? >> that he was hitting on the boys. >> abc 7 news. now police are looking for three women accused of stealing more than $1,000 worth of alcohol from a store. take a look. authorities say this treo walked into the sonoma market store friday night and walked out with 22 bottles of high-end liquor. authorities believe they hid the bottles in shoppingbags. anyone with information is asked to conct authorities. well, after years of debate, san francisco police will be armed with tasers following a contentious vote late friday. the reaction continues this weekend. the police union applauding the move, but now there is a new concern about use of the weapon. abc 7 news reporter cornerespon brunard has the story. >> reporter: contention boiled over, deciding if police officers should be allowed to

carry tasers. proved to be what police call a less lethal alternative. >> we have been pushing for tasers for seven or eight years. >> reporter: the associati president matthew holloran contends that it changes how an officer uses a taser. >> when you restrict it to a point where the officer is unable to use the taser, then what's the point of having that policy? >> we just oppose the use of tasers. >> reporter: activist alex post from the democratic association of america says the police force should use other tactics, like standoffs. >> using the de-escalation

suspicious vehicle. the injured officer is in critical but stable condition. rain and snow in northern california are welcome relief for firefighters, especially after last month's firestorm. but calfire officials say wildfire season is not over yet. the sacramento bee reports that sacramento is still recovering from the five-year drought. we need several wet winters like the one we saw last year before vegetation and groundwater supplies are fully restored. the national interagency fire center said there could be fire activity through december. well, we're going to get some rain this week. >> yes, we are, on wednesday, and if you think it's cold right now, most of you probably slept through the nippiest numbers. low 30s, below freezing in the north bay. 41 in santa rosa, with 53 in san

this morning actor alec baldwin is coming under fire after being accused of victim blaming. now baldwin says he's taking a break from twitter. it all centers around some controversial comments he made about rose mcgowan accepting a settlement from harvey weinstein after weinstein allegedly raped her. reporter aaron bankard has the latest. >> you heard the rumor that he raped rose mcgowan. we heard that for decades and nothing was done. >> reporter: alec baldwin faces backlash, facing criticism on saying why he believes hollywood kept silent after the rape of rose mcgowan by harvey weinstein. rose mcgowan reacted on twitter. told you everyone knew and nobody cared. >> rose mcgowan took a payment of $100,000 and settled her case

who i am. as erin bankard, new york. we are five days into a new and higher gas tax and people already protesting. people were in san francisco with signs saying, stop the gas tax, and #gastast a new law went into effect raising the gas tax by 12 cents a gallon and diesel tax by 20 cents a gallon to help fix up the roads, freeways and bridges. >> that the gas and diesel have both gone up, that increases not just the gas but the price of all goods, because transportation of goods is primarily via truck. >> and your car registration fees will also increase by 25 to $175 as part of that new measure. members from 11 shia mosques located throughout the

bay area organized a peace march and blood drive this weekend. they were located in civic center plaza where thousands condemned global terrorism. marchers called for unity and peace and a greater understanding of the muslim faith. >> here we are today, standing up with the terrorized and the oppressed people of the world to tell them that we are with them, we are one of them. >> marchers also commemorated the imam hussain, an important figure in the islamic faith, who stood against terrorism and promoted peace. hundreds of bay area protesters called for president trump's impeachment. abc 7 news was at union square in san francisco where they marched through the streets holding signs, accusing the trump administration of racism, mysogeny and xenophobia. we spotted a few counter-protesters in the crowd as well, and even anti-trump demonstrators recognized that everyone has a right to be

heard. >> this is a democracy, and i think i've learned a lot more about democracy the past few months and necessity for freedom of speech. even if i don't agree with them, they have a right to voice their opinion. >> police were on the streets, and you see them perched there on a nearby rooftop to watch over the crowd to make sure there wasn't any trouble. hundreds of boys who attend oakland's school spent hours learning about the importance of literacy. abc 7 news was at high school where the event was held. it focuses on honing literacy and comprehension skills, and doing it through teamwork. >> it's a place where we really are building each other up. we're lifting up great stories of respective people in our communities, and talking about the importance of reading and comprehension. >> the district teamed up with

the african-american male achievement program and the college alumni association to put on that event. the san mateo county history museum is celebrating the day of the dead today. admission to the museum in redwood city is free tonight between 5:00 and 8:30. there will be arts and crafts, a festival of food and music. the day of the dead is a traditional mexicanolid h honoring those who have departed. also happening today, the 21st annual tri-valley veterans parade returns to pleasonton. the federal holiday is friday and honors all americans who serve in milt taitary. the parade kicks off at 1:00 this afternoon in front of the veterans memorial hall on main street. good morning to you.

with temperatures compared to yesterday, anywhere from 2 to 13 degrees colder. early this morning we had temps below freezing here. it might have been hard to get out of bed. good idea to stay there for an extra hour or so if you can. a live look outside on our east bay hills camera. partly sunny. partly cloudy and cool today. milder on monday and tuesday. looks like rain could stick around the rest of the week. hour by hour, you'll notice the green to the north and some cloud cover sinking to the south. it's 4:30 and you'll notice the high to mid-level clouds in the north bay, but the system really falls apart. we will see some extra cloud cover. this is going to help us stay slightly more insulated tonight but not so on monday night. we're skipping ahead to wednesday. the next system getting pretty organized, bringing rain throughout the day. by the evening commute, it's a sloppy one with breezy winds into wednesday night.

helping victims of the north bay wildfires get back on their feet after the devastation. a local nurse has created a match program to team families in need with families who want to help. after our story aired last saturday, 300 more families have volunteered to help. and that's double the number of volunteer families that originally signed up. this program is tailored to giv those with nothing the specific things only they need, like camera or shoes or clothes. family friends are helping the children of the nevada woman killed in the las vegas mass shooting. stacy estobar died in last month's shooting. she's survived by her husband and two children. a family friend is selling t-shirts to fund the children's sporting activities. the fundraiser has made aboutadt $100,000 so far. we posted a link on abc7.com.ab.

temperatures are kind of mild for you this morning with low to mid-50s from san jose to the coast with 52 in the city, and looking at suturo here. the blue skies with numbers really cool today. just 50 degrees for a high. average should be in the mid-60s. we're just shy of that but we'll make up for that on monday and tuesday. 46 in napa. how much cooler than this time yesterday? about 10 degrees, so up in napa, and five degrees cooler on the peninsula and mountain view. warmest locations this time of year, santa rosa and mountain view upper 60s. we won't reach that today and we'll see increasing clouds north. a few areas of drizzle and light rain here throughout the afternoon in santa rosa, but it really falls apart. we'll increase the clouds that will keep us slightly warmer throughout the night tonight. maybe a sprinkle but more likely

>> yes, exactly. good point. >> thank you, lisa. an unusual dream is coming true for a young marin county boy. he's a leukemia survivor turned health care advocate. now thanks to make a wish, he'll be able to improve the lives of others half a world away. some kids dream of being a firefighter or a princess for a day. rex crowell dreams of helping people's lives. he had no idea what was going on as people applauded. gerald hoffman presented a proclamation from make a wish greater bay area, saying rex will soon head to africa, delivering vaccines and other meds. the proclamation recognizes that not only is the fourth grader a leukemia survivor, he's also become a well-known advocate on the issue of vaccinations.
