kirk. the ex-girlfriend of one of the inmates, tramel mcclough. investigators say she is the one who rented the u-haul and parked outside the courthouse. one of the two getaway vehicles. so she and the other man are being charged with conspiracy and accessory after the fact. mcclough and john bivens escaped from the courthouse yesterday morning and we have new details. the undersheriff just told me, they believe the member themselves smuggled in the hand cuff key that was used that got themselves out of their restraints. the undersharon says they're universal and they're easy the obtain and to smuggle. they got out of hand cuffs. they ran to a waiting car and then ditched that car and got into a u-haul. it is part of what led to the arrest of kirg. the undersheriff discussed staffing at the courthouse. he said at the courthouse was in fact overstaffed.

normally there would be 13 deputies and a sergeant. yesterday they had 15 deputies and a sergeant. and the upstaffing was due to four other inmates who were going to be in the courthouse that day. it did not have anything to do with mcclough o'binns. but two sheriff's deputies were escorting five inmates when mcclough and bivens were able to he is came. so the manhunt continues, as does the hundred for any other accomplices to their escape. live in sanity jose. abc7 news. >> thank you. now concord police plan to reveal more information about the killing of a teenager within the next half-hour or so. that's following the arrest of several people have the victim was 17-year-old lawrence jansen. witnesses say someone got out of a car and open fire on jansen while he was with a group of people minutes after classes

ended. jansen ran back to the continuation high school. he died in the hospital yesterday afternoon. they say a picture is words a thousand words. the defense in the kate steinle murder trial is counting on surveillance video taken at pier 14 to suggest their client may have found gun under a chair left behind by a group of people. live at the hall of justice to explain it. >> well, you know, the defense brought in paul endo, an expert when it comes the enhancing video. the video is grain yiflt you really can't make out the people who are on that pier. but here's what it does. it plants a seed of doubt in the minds of the jury. this expert in video enhancement was able to produce better photos and video of the scene in pier 14 before and after kate steinle was shot in 2015. the surveillance video was taken from the fire boat station on

upper 60s. so the storm impact scale. level one. abc7 news, a light system. wednesday, late afternoon, evening sboorgs thursday morning. we're anywhere from a tenth of an inch to an inch of rain. the lowest totals in the south bay. the winds will be gusting 35. possibly to 45 in the hills. there could be some debris flows. we'll be watching that closely. hour by hour we go. winds will ramp up. breezy and then it gets gusty, close to 30-mile-an-hour winds. by 9:00 p.m., we're already topping 30 miles an hour at the lower elevations and the windy conditions. out of the south until thursday morning when the winds subside. here's a look at the hour by hour forecast. so into 8:00 a.m. tomorrow, a few light showers. you wait until about 3:00. that's when light to moderate rain begins to arrive. it pretty much stays there and then spreads. the latter part of the night
