bit gray this morning as those clouds are moving in. meteorologist mike nico tracking that approaching storm, so mike, when exactly are we going to see the rain? >> that's a great question, reggie. we already saw a little bit up in the north bay, about .1 in santa rosa, but that's been it so far. we've been too dry for the rain to make it down. if you've been following live doppler 7 on our app, it's probably showing green across the north bay all morning, but it's not until the evening hours when we start to get this rainfall. it is talking about today and tomorrow. wind gusts, 35 to 45 right below the threshold for damage. there may be possible issues with the burn areas in the form of toxic ash. i'm not looking for debris flows out of that. to about tenth of an inch, and all of that is rain, it's just most of it is evaporating before it reaches the ground. it's the next wave you see that's going to come in and bring us the today issier, light to moderate rain during the

evening and overnight hours. and that low will bring us scattered showers for thursday and friday. east bay hills planner been just some scattered sprinkles to light rain from noon to 4:00, and then today issier rain at 9:00, then light to moderate rain during the midnight hour. notice those temperatures, reggie, still in the 50s to near 60s. mild night. hour by hour and how much rain to expect, coming up. >> mike, thank you. and you can track the forecast on the go all day long with our abc 7 news accuweather app, you're looking at our exporatorium camera from the city and all across the bay, all you have to do is just search accuweather and the app store to download that app for free right now. one place where they're watching the forecast with interest today, the fire affected areas of the north bay. add water to all of that fire, debris, and some are fearing we're looking at an environmental issue. amy hollyfield live in santa rosa, amy. >> reporter: hi reggie, they want help from the public.

if you see your storm drains are clogged, they want you to call it in. you should see these straw waddles blocking a lot of the storm drains and sandbags. especially here in the fire zone. that is an attempt to keep toxic debris from getting into the drains. they suspect that ash from this neighborhood is toxic, but they don't know for sure because it hasn't been tested and they have been making some progress. look at these signs we see all over the neighborhood showing that the epa has been here and removed household, hazardous waste from this area. but they won't truly know until they can test the run-off from here, which they should get from this rain. >> this rain, we are anticipating collecting samples from the storm water run-off so we can determine what's in it. are there heavy metals? what's the toxicity? we'll know more after the rain and after we analyze the samples. >> reporter: there are clean-up crews here this morning, but not many, they seem to just

preparing for the rain and staying away because of it. the last rainstorm we just had, didn't hit this area as hard as expected, so they did not get enough run-off to test. this storm will be the true test. hazardous run-off isn't their only drn, they're worried about erosion, there's no vegetation left to stop it. this could create flash flooding. and then there's also that sediment that would build up in the creeks that would keep the fish from getting enough oxygen. they have a task force watching over all of this, but they're asking the public to watch too, saying we are all in this together. we're reporting live in santa rosa, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> so true, thank you. on this one month anniversary of the north bay fires, we are looking back at some of the terrifying first moments when the atlas peak fire broke out. many will little time to react, and that included some wineries. >> reporter: this is what white rock win yard looked like before the fire, drone view 7 shows us
