live where you live, this is abc 7 news. >> the bay area is back on watch today. a live look now at the golden gate bridge shows some clouds hanging around. we may be seeing a break in the rain right now, but mike is tracking scattered showers that could pop up later today. and clouds are hanging around sfo, too. a live look there shows gray skies so be sure to get to the airport early if you're flying out today. meanwhile in san jose, no rain now, as traffic is cruising along 101. but that could change as we head into the afternoon.

thanks for joining us, i'm jessica castro, kristen sze will be in later today. people keeping an eye on the sky in san jose this morning got quite a treat, look abc 7 news crew captured vis video of a rainbow. this rainbow appeared in a break in the clouds between showers. mike, pretty impressive. it's beautiful. those showers could return, right? >> absolutely, those showers and that sunshine would make due for another chance of rainbows later on during the afternoon hours and again tomorrow. in fact, miss garcia sent me this one through facebook, appreciate her sending this. this is pretty early this morning in palo alto. let's take a look at rainfall totals real quick. see not much in fremont, .04, less than a tenth of an inch in cupertino. quarter inch in redwood city to walnut cream and rodeo at 2/3. san rafael, .75. other areas, inch in santa rosa, 1.10 in kenfield. quarter inch in oakland.

.2 inch in san francisco. best radar returns are move lg into the diablo range and heading out toward the pass in the sinole gray. more showers across the santa cruz mountains and the bay bridge. as we head through the next six hours, the area to the south of the san mateo bridge, transsilgsitranssilgs i si transitioning to the north bay. we have a moist, humid flow out there, jessica, we have a chance of scattered showers through tomorrow. i'll show you more on that coming up. >> mike, thank you. we do have breaking news from san francisco's financial district where fire crews have just put out a fire in an underground vault. and sky 7 was over the vault about 30 minutes ago. as firefighters doused the flames with carbon dioxide at the intersection of montgomery and bush streets. pedestrians walking nearby reported seeing smoke coming out of the vault and called for help. there are no reports of power outages because of this fire.

developing news in san jose, firefighters are investigating an early morning fire that left a dozen people displaced from their homes. san jose fire shared new photos within the last hour showing the extent of the damage. see everything inside the kitchen was destroyed. but there is something to be thankful for. a man driving to get some coffee this morning saw the smoke and stopped to wake up everyone inside the building. abc 7 news reporter tiffany wilson spoke to the good samarit samaritan, she's live at the scene just off valasco drive. >> reporter: i'm standing in the back of the building where the damage is the worst. the good samaritan says once he saw the fire, he absolutely had to stop. he couldn't bear the thought of o someone getting injured. many of the families he woke up were confused and disoriented but they all got out safely. the femme who lived in this unit say they woke to the sound of fire before they smelled smoke or felt the heat of the flames.

neighbors credit a different sound with urging them out of their beds. >> one guy knocked on the door. >> reporter: chris flores lives a few blocks away, he was driving to get coffee when he saw ash in the air. >> i kept looking up, i thought maybe i'm seeing things. i didn't see any fire. when i got here, i noticed the building was on fire. so i got out and started slamming on doors and trying to get people out. >> reporter: this woman grabbed her most valuable documents and a favor pair of shoes. allison ran out in her pajamas. >> i was a little bit scared. and i was a little bit about to cry. >> reporter: after the fire was at, allison offered a shy hug to the man who woke up her family. >> thank you. >> you're welcome. okay. >> reporter: family down there calls you a hero. how do you feel? >> not like a hero. i just trying to help, you know? i don't want anybody to go through that, you know? i was just trying to do what, you know, what anybody would do, i believe. >> reporter: firefighters say

flores' quick thinking helped them as well. >> if we can get here, know everybody is out of the building, that makes our job easier because we can focus on the fire. >> reporter: >> this unit was completely destroy destroyed, the two adjacent units damaged. a dolt of nine adults and three children were displaced. they will have to find somewhere new to stay tonight. live in san jose, tiffany wilson, abc 7 news. >> tiffany, thank you. developing news from gilroy where a two-alarm fire early this morning destroyed a home there. the fire broke out on broadway near happen street after 2:00 this morning. everyone inside the home was able to get out safely. it took several hours for fire crews to fully put out the fire and the cause is still under investigation. happening today, big names like metallica and dave matthews are bringing their star power to san francisco. to help raise money for victims of the north bay wildfires. and sky 7 was over at&t park this morning giving us a look at

the setup for tonight's band together bay area benefit concert. in addition to the thousands of fans set to attend, there will be spots reserved for first responders who helped during the disaster. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live at at&t park getting ready for the excitement. hi, amy. >> reporter: hi, jessica. there are still tickets available if you'd love to come. organizers promise all of your money will go toward helping those fire victims. here's a look at the stadium, at mpd t park, with a big stage, ready to go. you're going to see metallica and dave math ythews. it's a great lineup. this came about when san francisco heavy hitters talk ee about how they need to do something for our partners to the north. that was three weeks ago. the giants' ceo said he'd be happy to host. he happens to have a place. and all of the organizers say your money will be put to good use.

>> we are going to find non-profits and community organizations that are getting the money to where it's needed most. we bloelieve that's to low-inco individuals and families most impacted by these fires. >> it's a definition of community. if the ballpark can be a gathering place for our community, all the better. everybody, you know, we come together at times of celebration like the world series, but we also come together in times of need. and the response has been unreal. >> reporter: he said metallica was a easy yes, so was the dave matthews band. metallica is the headliner tonight. all the artists are donating their time tonight. they're not getting paid. tonight is being called band together bay area. organizers say they had hoped to raise about $10 million tonight. they now think they may double that. they don't want to jinx it, but that's what they're thinking they're going to raise. tickets are still available. they've sold 38,000 tickets so far. have a couple thousand left. so if you'd like to attend,

the gun on himself. actor kevin spacey is being edited out of an upcoming movie already ready to hit theaters. christopher plumber will replace spacey in the film titled "all the money in the world." it is still set for release on december 22nd. spacey faces new accusations of sexual harassment. a former boston news anchor came forward claiming the actor groped her 18-year-old son in massachusetts last year. new this morning one year until the 2018 election. we are getting a look at where the races for governor and u.s. senate stand. a brand new usc/"los angeles times" poll released this morning shows incumbent democratic senator dianne feinstein with a clear lead. if the election were held today, 58% of registered voters would back feinstein. 31% would back fellow democrat state senate leader kevin de leon. meanwhile the race for governor is much closer. gavin newsom gathers 31% of

support right now. antoine you villaragosa, 29%. allen has 15%. heels of violent protests at uc berkeley over conservative speakers, stanford college republicans now plan to host a controversial guest of their own. author robert spencer. depending on whom you ask, spencer is either a religious scholar or an islam-o-phobe. stanford college republicans invited him to add, quote, a sorely needed perspective to an important conversation about international security, end quote. student fees will partially fund the event. that has upset some students. they are now circulating a petition against the speaker. spencer is scheduled to speak at stanford next tuesday. if you've been itching for a closer look at apple's in pu campus, you may get your chance next week. apple is gearing up for a welcome event at its visitor center at the spaceship campus in cupertino according to the blog, 9 to 5 p

weak storms for next week. temperatures, heading out, southerly flow, really humid out there and pretty comfortable. temperatures in the low to mid 60s until you get way up north, cloverdale north ward, temperatures in the upper 50s. highs today stay in the upper 50s to near 60. 62 half moon bay. san francisco 63. oakland 65. the warm spot will be san jose at about 68 degrees. san jose, we had a shower roll through. we got sunshine on 280 and 17. looks like it dried out quickly. get ready for scattered shows through noon. chance will taper to isolated showers from 4:00, 9:00 and 12:00. temperatures stay in the 60s through 4:00. then the 50s as we head through the evening every overnight hours. going to the big concert tonight, don't worry about the wet weather. band together, the benefit concert for the north bay fire victims. 6:00, 58, dropping down to about 56. and not as breezy as we would normally associate. temperatures tomorrow morning pretty mild, 50 to 55 degrees. some green on that, we'll

continue the scattered showers all the way through tomorrow. another third of an inch is possible. mainly across the north bay mountains. rest of us probably less than a tenth of an inch. snow in the sierra. watch out if you're going up that way. see scattered showers as we get the moist flow coming off the ocean. it's going to stay there today and tomorrow thanks to this low. it stays to the north and weakens. that's why our rainfall amounts will be much less than what we had during the overnight hours. here we are all the way up until 4:00. see not a lot of green out there. except for in the central valley and across the north bay. as we're heading out this evening, isolated showers. most of us pretty quiet. and then during the overnight hours, another wave of energy comes in. see the showers developing along. as we start the commute tomorrow, all the way through 9:00, we're going to have a chance of a better chance and that will hang around through about noon. then scattered showers through 4:00. if you're heading out tomorrow evening, more unlikely you're not going to need the umbrella as the chance will taper. accuweather seven-day forecast looking nice for veteran's day. temperatures in the 60s away
