live where you live, this is abc 7 news. >> the bay area is back on storm watch today. a live look at some of our bridges shows conditions on the roads right now, some spots are slick and we're tracking scattered showers that could pop up throughout the day where you live. thanks for joining us, i'm matt keller, kristen sze will be in later today. rain ushered in the friday morning commute in several parts of the bay area. this video in san francisco's financial district shows people donning their umbrellas. also see people wearing rain jackets and hoodies trying to stay dry. commuters in the north bay also saw rain. this video shows the commute along highway sausalitoausalito

earlier this morning. meteorologist mike nicco is tracking the potential for wet weather for the rest of the day. hi, mike. >> hey, mike, hey, everybody. see how slippery it's going to be when the showers come around. the amount of rain they're going to drop makes them pa a 1 on th storm impact scale. up in the north bay, where aye got live doppler 7 centered right here from mt. st. helena. see the rain from santa rosa down toward petaluma and yountville. we also got a nice slug if you're traveling anywhere on 80 from fairfield, crockett, hercules down to oakland, over the san francisco, daly city taking 680 to san bruno, it is wet right now and going to continue to be bet for the next half hour to 45 minutes. as we head through the next six hours the showers will push off to the east. i see a little bit of a drying as we head toward the ven eveni commute. a nice weekend on the way, too,

coming up. >> track the forecast on the go all day with the abc 7 news accuweather app. search accuweather in the app store to download it now. we're getting a new look at what happened when pilots of an air canada plane failed to abort a landing attempt at sfo. abc news obtained video from the airport's control tower. footage shows what air traffic controllers saw. >> reporter: a routine message started the controller's conversation with air canada flight 781. >> 781. >> reporter: the situation changed quickly last month. controllers asked the crew to go around. >> 781 go around. >> reporter: nobody on board responded to six requests in 40 seconds. >> 781, go around. >> reporter: the controller asked the united flight that landed before the air canada jet to move quickly so it wouldn't be in the way of another united plane landing on the adjacent runway. >> 2065. left center -- without delay, please. >> reporter: while that united

plane hurried, the air canada jet landed and finally responded to the tower. >> that's pretty evident. >> the faa is investigating an air canada flight that nearly missed hitting another plane at the sfo. the pilot was confused. pg&e is suggesting in court files it was another company's electrical wires that might have caused the destructive tubbs fire. pg&e made a claim in response to attorneys. the utility did not identify the third party. cal fire is investigating the possible role downed electrical wires had in starting the deadly inferno. north bay firefighters trying to bring back normalcy to the area. they've been collecting bicycles to deliver to fire victims. abc 7 news reporter is in mill valley with what they still need. janine? >> reporter: math, it's a great way to start a friday. check this out.

all these firefighters for the past hour have been working in the rain loading all of these bikes. hundreds of bikes into their trucks here now. . now it's going to head to santa rosa. all the bikes used and new, they're going to give them away. collected 600 bicycles to give out to family members burned out of their homes in the recent north bay fires. today they're going to fix the bikes that need repairs, going to be delivering them tomorrow between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the sonoma county sheriff's office in santa rosa. the bikes will be handed out to adults and children with addresses listed as destroyed on the official damage inspection report from cal fire. >> hopefully it's a good thing for them, bring back normality to their lives and let them ride their bikes around the area they live. i know i'd want a bike if i lost it. >> reporter: mike's bike's, franklin plumbing, local fire departments and chp came together to organize this event.

their goal was to collect 1,000 bikes so they still have more donations to come in. f if you have a bike that needs to be used or needs fixed up, drop it off at fire stations in marin county, southern marin or the cal fire station in santa rosa. it's going to a good cause to help people that lost everything. reporting live in mill valley, abc 7 news. >> all right, thanks, janine. speaking of banding together for north bay fire victims, last night, metallica, among the musicians who performed at the benefit concert at at&t park. ♪ ♪ metallica closed out the five hour marathon concert with sand man in front of 40,000 fans. all the performers played for free to be part of the fundraiser and thank the first responders. metalli metallica's guitarist nearly lost his sonoma home. the flames stopped at his front gate. >> just want to thank all the

first responders, everyone who helped four weeks ago, i was a victim of the fire. i just want to say thank you, thank you, thank you for everyone. >> band together raised more than $15 million. happening today, data honor our veterans. the official veteran's day holiday is tomorrow. since it falls on a weekend, many places are observing it today. ark abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live in richmond with more on a special event. happening there. amy? >> reporter: as you can hear, this is a fun event a celebratory feeli ining as theyt to celebrate the veterans and take this opportunity to help them. look at this resource book. it can get very complicated sorting through this. they thought why not bring them together and help get some of their questions answered as well? it's veteran's day with a twist. there will be the usual lunch and speeches from politicians. but organizers of this event in

richmond hope these boots they provided for different agencies will arm veterans with information that will help them improve their lives. >> they're here, they can go around, learn about job opportunities that are here, mental health services that might be here, supportive services for their families that might be here. >> reporter: chevron organized the event here at richmond's craneway pavilion. veterans we spoke to say they really appreciate help navigating what can be a complicated process. >> i'm always looking out to see what kind of benefits or -- i haven't discovered yet. >> reporter: they stay it also feels good to be recognized. >> being a vietnam vet, it took -- it took me 50 years to hear the words, welcome home, veteran. you know? because it was an unpopular war and we didn't receive a welcome home when we came back. it's good. >> reporter: army veteran henry torres says all this help is great but he's also grateful just for the chance to visit

we're tracking breaking news in san francisco. abc 7 news confirmed a mountain lion has been sighted near diamond street and duncan street. sky 7 was over the scene a short time ago. san francisco police officers armed with rifles are pursuing the mountain lion right now. they tell us they have the animal surrounded. authorities received a call around 10:00 this morning after someone spotted the animal. we'll bring you an update as soon as we get one on the abc 7 news app. new details this morning over the sexual misconduct

with an umbrella or rain shield? >> need the shield from the water flipping back up at you. that's the thing you'll be needing. >> definitely have showers. we're tracking them with live doppler 7. hi, everybody. keep the umbrella handy all the way up until the evening commute. see emeryville right there, one of the moderate showers rolling through. see the rain drops rolling down the lens. the visibility is pretty low. scattered, light to moderate showers possible today. a brief break between storms tomorrow. get ready for more wet weather sunday into monday. and, again, possibly wednesday into thursday. here's a look at that on live doppler 7. you can see looks pretty healthy, doesn't it? covers the entire bay bridge. puddles are probably develop in there, need to slow down a little bit. down in the south bay, seeing sunshine right now. that's about to change as storms will try to climb over the santa cruz mountains. they'll leave most of their moisture there. you could over the next hour or two see a few spotty showers as you can see them, they're very freckled in nature. by 4:00, they're mainly in the

inland east bay and south of the san mateo bridge. thath we could have the beginnings a wet commute. during the commute up to 7:00, the timeframe there, everything kind of fades away with the sun setting. then the clouds start to open up a little bit. it will be cooler this evening than last evening. here's a look at rainfall totals. see some of the rain shadowed areas like san mateo, redwood city won't see much, in the south bay, couple hundredths. some areas maybe .015 as you can see in richmond, maybe up to a third in the north bay. here's a look at what happened this morning. you could see we had a little bit of sunshine. then the clouds start getting thicker. starts getting a little darker. then the rain just unloads on top of us. this is from the exploratorium camera during the morning commute this morning. now, as we head into the afternoon hours, you may see a little sunshine, especially across the north bay, the closer you are to the coast. temperatures around 63 to 67 this afternoon. there it is, there's the sunshine down in the south bay. i know, you watch our forecast sometimes you go, he's got even talking to me when he talks rain. i promise you, there's still a
