let's get up and get going. this is "abc 7 mornings." >> good morning, thanks for joining us. i'm chris nguyen. let's start with a first look at the forecast. here's's meteorologist louisiana, tracking live doppler 7 for us. >> hey, chris. we're looking at fog, dense in some spots. be careful if you're headed out early along the coast and also right in the north bay. so right now we're looking at 40s there. 41 in clear lake. 53 in oakland. 55 in the city and san jose. napa has visibility down to a quarter of a mile. livermore at eight miles. certainly foggy in walnut creek. we're looking at a cooler start, anywhere from a couple of degrees cooler to about five to nine degrees cooler on the coast. sfo, no delays yet. that could change. low to mid-50s for the early morning hours. more son throughout tun through afternoon.

we'll bring in rain by late tomorrow. i'll have the accuweather seven-day forecast coming up. >> lisa, thank you. they zoomed through many east bay communities a few weeks ago. this weekend, hundreds of motorcyclists may cause problems again. police say social media has tipped them off there may be sideshows with people coming from all over the state. abc 7 news reporter katie utehs has more on what police are doing to get ready. >> reporter: swarms of motorcycle riders took over east bay roadways late last month. police arrested five people and impounded vehicles. but it hasn't slowed side show activity. more is expected this weekend. oakland police captain randall wingate says the street stunts stretch the department thin. >> if you're a victim of a minor crime, you'll have to wait, it will backlog us for an entire day. until we can get to you to take that report. >> i've seen a couple of sideshows where they've pulled firearms out and shooting while spinning doughnuts. that's ridiculous. you shouldn't have to do that to

have a good time. >> that sounds like a pretty dangerous situation so i think we should stop it somehow. >> reporter: opd and california highway patrol are bringing in extra officers and resources this weekend. >> when you have helicopters and planes in the air, you cannot outrun them. they'll patiently wait for you to stop and we'll take your car and you'll go to jail. >> they're going to do it regardless, whether it's legal or not legal. >> reporter: berkeley resident jose ruiz suggests finding a venue to keep the sideshows off the street. opd says it's working to deter participants and spectators. in the east bay, katie utehs, abc 7 news. a mountain lion captured in san francisco has been released back into the wild. this video shows the big cat being tranquilized by game wardens. abc 7 news was in diamond heights as they carried him away. someone spotted the cougar lurking in the bushes yesterday. police cleared the area until the wardens moved in.

neighbors were shocked to see a mountain lion so close to home. one man is keeping a close eye on his dog. >> i'm not going to let him out. he looks like a little bunny, he's a pomeranian. so we watch out for the hawks and the coyotes, now we have to watch out for mountain lions. >> wardens say the quivering you see right there is normal. the mountain lion was not injured. it was released at the crystal springs reservoir in san mateo county last night. members of the uc santa cruz puma project gave it an ear tag and gps monitor to track it. new fallout after louis c.k. admitted in a long apology letter that he preyed on women over the years. the comedian and actor has now lost his longtime manager, his publicist and the agency that represented him along with the cable networks that produced his projects. our sister station from los angeles has the story. >> there's no greater threat to women than men. >> reporter: a day after a "new york times" story involving comedian louis c.k. committing

acts of sexual misconduct, including masturbating in front of women, he's come forward to say their stories are true. in a statement he writes, the power he had over these women is that they admired him and he wielded that power irresponsibly, adding, i can hardly wrap my head around the scope of hurt i brought on them. he ends the statement writing, i've spent my long and lucky career talking and saying anything i want. i will now step back and take a long time to listen. after c.k.'s admission, the fx network canceled its association with him. the editor in chief of "movie city news" has been watching the recent sex scandals unfold. >> we're really at the beginning of it. it's very much the beginning. there are a lot of stories to come out. >> reporter: hollywood is continuing to talk. in a facebook post friday, actress ellen page alleges director brett ratner verbally abused her on a movie set and outed her in front of the cast and crew when she was 18. he's been accused of sexual abuse and misconduct by at least

six women, allegations he denies. page goes on to describe situations with other authority figures that occurred while she was a minor. >> the past can be re-adjudicated. we can talk about about it, people can lose careers, all that. that's really unimportant in the scheme of things. what's important now is move forward. we have to find an answer. >> reporter: anthony edwards naming writer-producer gary goddard as his abuser. edwards met goddard when he was 12 and he says goddard arrested him for years and raped his best friend. edwards writes, "shame can thrive easily when we are isolated but it loses its power when people come together to share their common experiences." >> my hope is it will change things. my fear is we're in a twitter world where nothing changes for more than a week. >> reporter: abc 7 news. a driver in pinole slammed

into a gas station, caused a fiery explosion, and lived to talk about it. it happened yesterday afternoon at the chevron on pinole valley road. pictures and video posted by the police department look like a scene out of a movie, take a look at this. they say the driver got out and amazingly was not injured. new details now on what started the north bay wildfires. pg&e claims it does not own the power line that may have sparked the flames. our media partner the mercury news reports a pg&e court filing claims a third party owned, installed, and maintained the electrical equipment. the utility company is facing 15 wildfire-related lawsuits. 22 people died and at least 4500 structures burned in last month's wildfires. thousands of dollars for north bay fire victims. the bay area's muslim community got together in the south bay last night for a fundraiser. organizers saying we're all neighbors. abc 7 news reporter katie marzullo has the story now from fremont. >> you can't just stand and watch as someone else is doing

it. >> reporter: she watched the deadly north bay fires unfold on tv and knew she wanted to help. her plans started with her dad who owns royal palace banquet hall in fremont. >> he connected a few people, those people connected more people. it just grew. >> reporter: hundreds of people came. speakers included spiritual leaders and united states congressmen. >> every time these disasters have happened, i've seen our community come together. >> reporter: the community here is muslim. >> as muslims we believe god didn't say to love your muslim neighbor. god said love your neighbor. >> over 40 lives have been lost and thousands of homes. so the smallest thing we can do to help our fellow neighbors is an honor. >> reporter: the money raised will go to islamic relief usa. >> we focus on the people either who were not insured or the people who did not for whatever reason qualify for fema support.

>> reporter: organizers hope this event raises at least $100,000 for fire victims. in fremont, katie marzullo, abc 7 news. ♪ metallica, dead and company and several other bay area bands helped raise $17 million thursday night for fire victims. the money will go to the tipping point emergency relief fund which helps low income communities affected by the fires. the relief fund has raised a total of $23 million. happening today, sonoma county is hosting a resource fair to connect fire victims with government debris removal programs. today's fair is at the utilities field office in santa rosa. it's from 10:00 until noon. if you miss it, don't worry, there's another fair tomorrow happening at the santa rosa veterans building and on monday at a middle school. this weekend caltrans will

bring down the final remaining piers of the old eastern span of the bay bridge. this is caltrans video from two weeks ago, when three piers were imploded. traffic will be briefly stopped today. no cars will be allowed on the bay bridge for about 30 minutes during the blasting period, which is expected to take place between 6:00 and 8:00 this morning. caltrans says it's finishing the work one year ahead of schedule, which will save taxpayers nearly $10 million. meteorologist lisa argen is here, and fog is still out there. >> it's still out there. we're looking at very foggy start in the north bay. it is moving around just a bit. but in the city here, looks pretty good. exploratorium camera. 55 degrees in the city, also 55 in san jose. so we'll look at a pretty nice afternoon. we've got a dry day, veterans day. and a mostly dry sunday. then the changes arrive. i'll have them for you with my accuweather seven-day forecast, coming up.

tense moments at the orlando international airport after a loud blast in the main terminal. people thought it was a the gun shot. the airport was evacuated as travelers were taken off planes. police found an overheated lithium camera battery caused the explosion. it took hours for passengers to go through security again, causing delays and cancellations. hurricane maria is blamed for an iv bag shortage causing alarm at hospitals in the bay area and across the nation. the hurricane forced baxter international plants to close, greatly reducing the supply of ivs. hospital in the bay area are now facing shortages even if they don't use baxter. iv bags are being brought in from australia and ireland but will only meet about 10% of national demand. a dog owner in oakland is pleading to get his stolen yorkshire terrier back. take a good look at biscuit. he was taken sunday at 1:00 p.m.

in front of a restaurant, whose surveillance video shows a truck driving through the parking lot and pulling around to the other side. a man gets out of the truck, jumps over the fence, and after a few minutes somehow manages to break in and take the dog right as a customer in a white van watches it all happen. the man ran off and drove away with biscuit. if you have any information, you're asked to call oakland police. honoring our veterans. and in marin county, there's a special project to make sure their stories live on for generations to come. abc 7 news reporter elissa harrington shows us that project that is paying tribute to hundreds of bay area vets. >> it was a little difficult. it was a little emotional at times for me. >> reporter: sean stevens still gets tears in his eyes thinking about his years in afghanistan with the national guard. >> war is not videogames. it is forever. the scars can be physical and they can be mental. >> reporter: his experiences forever changed his life and now

will forever live on in the library of congress. stevens is one of 200 bay area veterans who have been interviewed for an oral history project called "honoring our marin veterans." the people asking the questions, high schoolers. like emily sweet. >> we ask a bunch of questions, and those interviews with paperwork and logs of the audio will go to the library of congress for preservation of their stories. >> reporter: the mission is to interview all living bay area vets so their stories can be shared with future generations. >> it's really about day to day and the everyday people that have been fighting to preserve the liberty and the freedom that we have as a country. >> reporter: ted cohen fought in vietnam, the korean war and world war ii. he was stationed along the german border. >> it taught me how great it is to live in the united states by looking across that border and seeing what those people are going through. >> reporter: he never takes this country or our freedoms for

granted. elissa harrington, abc 7 news. u.s. marines raising the flag on iwo jima during world war ii. the late joe rosenthal took the photo. he was a combat correspondent and a san francisco native. a petition drive by bay area veterans asking a warship to be named after rosenthal now has the attention of the secretary of the navy. >> it was truly a miracle he got this picture at 1/400th of a second, carrying a camera that probably weighed ten pounds and was big and bulky. >> you can find and sign that petition online. we have a link on our website, abc7news.com. there's also a tribute to that iconic moment on a hilltop in crockett just off interstate 80. it was put there by an east bay man as a tribute to his brother who was a u.s. marine. the marine corps marked its 242nd anniversary yesterday. >> the national park service is encouraging people to get outside in honor of veterans

day. all weekend long, all california national parks are waiving their entry fees. that includes yosemite and many more. happening today, san jose will salute military veterans with an annual parade. you're watching video from last year's event. first there will be a ceremony at plaza de caesar chavez. the parade begins at highway 87. it will march towards santa clara and san carlos. other bay area cities holding parades today include petaluma and antioch. the start times are on your screen. there are lots of freebies for veterans this weekend. go to our website, abc7news.com. we have a complete list of discounts and freebies from meals to haircuts. be aware, many of the discounts require proof of your veteran status. money will definitely help north bay wildfire victims get their lives back to normal. but sometimes a bike helps just as much. abc 7s news was on seminary

drive in mill valley where firefighters were rolling out donated bikes, both new and used, onto trucks. the bikes will be handed out to adults and children with addresses listed as destroyed on the official damage inspection report from calfire. >> the need for helping people that lost everything, it's the least we could do. we just felt like, after going up there and seeing it, we wanted to do something. and this is the way that everyone can give back. >> the bikes will be delivered today between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the sonoma county sheriff's office in santa rosa. happening today, the cub scouts and boy scouts are donating food to the san francisco marin food bank. last year they donated more than 30,000 pound of food. the annual scouting for food campaign is the largest food drive benefiting the food bank each year. the food bank says it will be a very busy weekend with thanksgiving coming up in less than two weeks.

afternoon. we're going to wait on that sun for a while. when we do have it, it will bring in a pretty mild afternoon with some low to mid-60s by 3, 4:00. we'll talk about the dry saturday in detail, and perhaps a wet finish to your weekend in a few minutes, chris. >> lisa, thank you. alabama senate candidate roy moore is denying a claim that he had sexual encounters with a 14-year-old girl. in a radio interview with sean hannity, moore called leigh corfman's claim, quote, completely false and misleading and said he didn't know her from anybody. corfman said the encounter was in 1979 when moore was 32 and she was 14. three other women claimed that moore either asked them out or took hem them on dates when he an adult and they were underage. moore said he didn't remember dating teenagers as an adult and called that behavior inappropriate. he also suggested the claims were politically motivated. bay area congressman mo kana

says republican congressmen should withdraw their report. two republican senators withdrew their endorsements of moore yesterday after his radio interview. house democrats are hoping they can win back a majority in the house next year after three more republicans announced their retirements this week. all together, 29 republicans have decided not to seek reelection compared to only 11 democrats. te latest is house judiciary committee chairman bob goodlatte of virginia. goodlatte's district will likely not flip to a democrat. president trump won that district by 25 points last year. republicans on capitol hill are going full steam ahead with their tax reform plans with just 16 working days left before christmas. the house and senate have proposed their own versions, and the goal is to merge the two bills into one by the end of this year. the centerpiece of both bills is tax cuts, but there are major differences in how those would be accomplished. >> corporate america is definitely going to see the

senate bill as a loss. both of these plans add to the deficit, $1.5 trillion is what would be added to the deficit over ten years. and there is a real concern about what that would mean for the overall economy in the long run. >> the house and expected to take a vote next week. the senate will begin debate on theirs in committee on monday. on that note, house minority leader nancy pelosi has criticized republicans for working at the speed of light in the dark of night to get this bill passed quickly without help from democrats. congresswoman pelosi was in san francisco and called the plan a scam. abc 7 reporter lyanne melendez has more. >> reporter: republicans in calfornia have distanced themselves from their constituents in new york and new jersey when it comes to eliminating deductions for state and local taxes. these deductions are made at the time of filing yearly taxes. people in new york, new jersey, and california have benefitted

from these deductions because the cost of living is so high. in the end, if the tax reform plan passes, taxpayers in those states who itemize their deductions would end up paying more. >> shame on the republicans in california for selling their constituents down the river. >> reporter: but the chairman of the republican party in san francisco says it makes sense to him. >> i think california republicans are really focused on the egalitarian aspect, the idea that if we eliminate a lot of these deductions, everybody across the country, even in california, will get a benefit from it. >> reporter: and with regard to those massive wildfires in northern california, people there will still be able to take a deduction on their losses from their 2017 tax returns. but after that, under the proposed republican plans, those deductions will disappear. the same applies for earthquakes but not for hurricanes. california, a blue state, doesn't have hurricanes. >> it's just mean-spirited. but remember this.

14 republicans from california voted, knowing that was in the bill. >> reporter: pelosi picked a fire station in san francisco to criticize the republican tax plan. meantime, republicans have said they plan on steam rolling their tax plan through congress. in san francisco, lyanne melendez, abc 7 news. there will be no formal meeting between president trump and vladimir putin at the asia pacific economic cooperation summit in vietnam. the two shook hands as the leaders attending the meeting gathered for a group photo. the president began his visit by attacking economic issues, specifically trade. he proclaimed that his administration will not tolerate trade abuses and that countries must follow the rules if they want to do business with the united states. >> we cannot achieve open markets if we do not ensure fair market access. in the end, unfair trade undermines us all. >> vietnam is the presidet's

also happening today, you can celebrate walnut creek on ice's 13th season with the children's winter festival. the first 250 guests will get free admission and skates. and for the rest of the day, it's just $5 to get in. entertainment today includes skating performances, face painting and a balloon artist. today's festival runs from 1:00 until 1:00 but the rink is open until 11:00 tonight. in san francisco, thousands of students and parents will gather at at&t park for the annual bay area science festival discovery day. the park will be transformed into a large science museum with more than 150 interactive exhibits, games, experiments, and shows, including robotics and solar energy. more than 35,000 people are expected to attend today's free event. it goes from 10:00 until 4:00. another busy weekend across the bay area. >> mm-hmm, nice to see the sun today. the north bay the big winners with yesterday's rain.

good morning, everyone. we're taking a live look outside from our golden gate bridge camera. these drivers getting an early start to the day. you can see in the distance some cloud cover over parts of sauce sausali sausalito. in sports, san jose state is the only bay area school in action today. they face nevada and reno at 1:00 p.m. cal as a buy this weekend. last night stanford tried to stay alive in the race for the pac-12 north. they had to beat ninth ranked washington at stanford stadium. abc 7 sports director larry beil has the highlights in this morning's sports report. >> good morning, everybody. stanford went looking for an upset of ninth ranked washington last night on the farm. big problem, bryce love, sore ankle when he aggravated in the first half against the huskies. rushing was held to a hundred yards last week against wazoo. one yard plunge. ankle looks fine right there. we're tied at 7 in the second quarter.

looking at a slight chance of rain late tomorrow, more likely into monday for a soggy monday morning commute. a break on tuesday, and then another system heads our way. it's a weak one, wednesday into thursday. so you notice the snow behind me here in the sierra nevada. this is up what about 8,000 feet. heavenly. you really have to get up that high to get a little bit of snow. high today in south lake, 50 degrees. it's 27 right now. and we're looking at a mix of some clouds around the bay with a half mile visibility in concord. looking at eight miles now along the coast. it has been pretty poor up in napa, two miles now. take it easy, if you're out there early this morning from mt. tam, this is a nice indicator of what the day is going to be like. that sun will burn back and evaporate the low cloud deck. 55 in the city as well as san jose, 53 in gilroy. 46 half moon bay. and from our east bay hills camera, you can see the layer of clouds here with some of the sunlight getting through. it will be a nice day in the east bay with mid-60s arriving
