visibility in santa rosa. but the rain doesn't come in until about 10:00 tonight and the rest of us enjoying a mild afternoon with some sunshine. mid-60s arched the bay aound th inland. carolyn. san jose will hold a about the rain risks for california victims of the wildfires. little to no ground cover means increased risks for landslides and sinkholes. residents are asked to call 911 if they see evidence of flooding or mud flows. from bikes to personal documents. residents are recovering part of their lives lost last month to the wildfires. abc 7 news reporter has the story. >> reporter: nine-year-old zach

thompson has a brand new bike. his old one was lost the night his family escaped the fires. >> i miss it a lot. >> reporter: yeah? >> but i'm excited to have a new one. >> it's emotional. they lost a lot. >> reporter: the smiles were everywhere. the line was long for the giveaway. a quick i.d. check is all that was needed for a new set of wheels. >> reporter: the community has been fabulous and we feel real blessed to have an opportunity like this to kind of help them get the joy back. >> reporter: a drive by the marin county firefighters made it happen. 135 bikes were donated by the fire stations. >> all around bathe bay area, w had bikes coming from santa cruz, san mateo, everywhere. >> reporter: the drive isn't over. their goal is 1,000 bikes. this seminar helped replace their vehicles.

music filled old courthouse square. a festival called sonoma strong marked the beginning of rebuilding efforts. it could take years, but they say look around. the community is already pitching in. >> it's amazing how a tragedy will bring out the best in people, and santa rosa just came together, which is amazing. >> reporter: and we're a fallen community now united. in santa rosa, cornell bernard, abc 7 news. developing news from san diego. nearly two dozen children are recovering this morning after being injured in a gym accident. authorities say the kids went tumbling when a structure collapsed. abc news reporter marci gonzalez has the latest. >> reporter: overnight chaos at a children's trampoline and obstacle gym in san mateo. kids rushed out on stretchers and into ambulances. inside first responders treating some of the 23 people injured when a platform collapsed. >> it was really scary and

everybody was crying and bleeding. >> reporter: it happened around 7:40 p.m. 30 to 40 kids rushing u the stairs for pizza, according to some reports, caused the wooden platform to buckle. >> i felt like a crack, and then all of a sudden it just crashed down and i heard people screaming when it was coming down. >> the platform these kids was going up on was real sketchy. you could tell it was not going to hold a lot of weight. >> reporter: authorities say the injuries ranged from mild to moderate, also including a spine and head injury. 14-year-old joseph alvarez knows just how fortunate he was. >> i fell. luckily i landed on like a pad, and luckily i didn't get hurt. >> reporter: marci gonzalez, abc news, los angeles. developing news in oakland where police officers remain on alert this morning for any attempts to start a side show. the police department tweeted pictures of several cars they towed last night for suspected side show activity.

police tipped off on social media about side shows happening this weekend. two weeks ago officers arrested five people and impounded motorcycles after nearly 200 bikers performed side shows on east bay roads and freeways. alabama republican senate candidate roy moore is taking aim at the women accusing him of sexual misconduct. moore is calling the allegations fake news and raising questions about why it took so long for the women to come forward right before an election. abc's stephanie ramos is on the story from washington. >> reporter: why now? that's the question republican senate candidate roy moore continues to ask and answer. >> to think that grown women would wait 40 years to come before -- right before an election to bring charges is absolutely unbelievable. >> reporter: moore going on the

offensive saturday at a veterans day event in alabama on the sexual misconduct allegations made against him. >> to be attacked for allegations of sexual misconduct contradicts my entire career in law. i have not been guilty of sexual misconduct with anyone. ro >> reporter: moore, who is running to fill the seat left by attorney general jeff sessions, is accused that he engaged in sexual activity with a 14-year-old girl when he was 32. the article alleges he also pursued other girls including gloria deason, when they were between the ages of 16 and 19. while they find this suspicious, deas srk deason's lawyer writes this. at that time they had no idea of

their rights, especially against someone in law at the time. >> this article is an example of fake news. >> reporter: but a number of republican senators are distancing themselves from moore. at least 42 of the 52 gop senators have weighed in on moore's situation, most saying if the allegations are true, then he should drop out of the race. stephanie ramos, abc news, washington. happening today, san francisco's annual veterans day parade. this is the 97th year the city by the bay has honored veterans this way. this is video from a recent parade. today's event will start at north point street and the embarcadero. it will wind down the embarcadero to jefferson street and final toly to an aquatic pa. no traffic will be allowed on the street between jefferson and embarcadero. the parade will start at 11:00 and scheduled to end at 1:00. steph curry used some of his

>> welcome to the 20th anniversary of the transgender film festival. >> reporter: it was a packed house at the roxie theater. in fact, the entire three-day-long festival is sold out. but the buzz this night was also about a larger nationwide movement. >> we had this great election just a few days ago that is kind of a water mark maybe maybe m far we've come the last few years. >> reporter: danna became the first transgender seated in a state position. >> it certainly gives hopes that maybe some of our struggles, the needs of our community will actually get heard, you know, in a bigger way. >> reporter: many here admit things have changed since president trump took office, but not for the better. >> i wish there was a stronger movement, because, you know, the trump administration is really, really putting us down.

but i'm very optimistic. >> reporter: for this community, this week's elections and the film festival's success are proof that this group is growing, not just in numbers, but in influence as well. lisa amin, abc 7 news.c 7 news.. stomp o one california neighborhood sees bears pretty often, but for one family they got a little too close to comfort. we're in monrovia with the story. >> you guys have to get out. come on. >> reporter: living in the foothills, the mark family is used to bear sightings, but they've never seen anything quite like this. >> we heard some commotion out in this room and woke up and saw the two cubs in the room, and as soon as he showed up, one of the cubs left. >> reporter: jenny marks's husband caught this cell phone video on thursday as he calmly tried to shoo out a 200-pound can you be who had slid through a sliding door to search for cat

food. >> how they got in and out, we'll never know. >> reporter: after a snack, the cub joined mama bear and a sibling outside and they went on their way. >> i'm just glad he was able to get them out, because obviously, he's only functioning with one arm right now. >> reporter: jenny's husband is a survivor of the las vegas massacre and is still recovering. >> my husband was shot. it's been a pretty trying, you know, month, and he's just, you know, recuperating right now. so, you know, this was a bit of excitement that was probably not needed right now, but, you know, it all worked out for the best. >> reporter: this is the third time the bear family has visited the marks in the last few weeks. they've had a little pool party in the backyard, and on another occasion, came close to coming inside. >> oh, my goodness. oh, my goodness. >> then she just jumped up on

view with 50 in gilroy. how about 57 half moon bay, and from our east bay hills camera, you can see some of the fog there with -- beginning to clear out over most areas. 49 santa rosa, 50 to home here looking at the clouds with a little bit of fog mixed in. we're looking at the dense fog hanging on another, oh, hour or so. maybe by 11:00 it begins to clear in the north bay. then partly cloudy this afternoon, rain tonight in the north bay through tomorrow, and it's going to be spread out over both commutes. it's a 1 on our storm impact scale taking the same trajectory over the last systems we've seen. meaning rain in the north bay washes out by the time it gets to the south bay and weakens. we're looking to anywhere from a quarter of an inch to three-quarters of an inch in the north bay. we rank them 1 to 5 and in most

spots a tenth out there. 10:00 you'll notice pretty spot on with the partly cloudy skies. later in the afternoon, we have sun in the east bay, the peninsula, the south ay. more clouds entering the north bay, and by 10:00 up in sonoma county, cloverdale, it should be raining, but by early morning hours, spotty showers in the north bay, maybe some drizzle along the coast. this front is going to sort of drag its way slowly to the south. so by mid-afternoon, we're still looking at southern marin to east bay, elceritoelceritoelcero some rain. maybe the santa cruz mountains getting wet, but it lingers into the south bay. amounts will be less, but here it is 11:00 and we still have some showers from san jose into livermore. with the rainfall amounts focusing once again in the north, that will be the highest amount. about .7 in santa rosa to half

here's the latest. >> reporter: in a joint conference with the president of vietnam, the president was asked point blank who he believed, u.s. intelligence agencies or vladimir putin, who denies it happened. >> i believe vladimir putin says he did not meddle in the u.s. election. i am believing in the leadership. >> reporter: the intelligence agencies said putin did interfere and putin himself ordered it. president trump says he accepts their findings, but he wants to move on and work with putin. >> what he believes is what he believes. what i believe is we have to get to work to solve syria, to solve north korea, to solve ukraine, to solve terrorism. and, you know, people don't realize, russia has been very, very heavily sanctioned.

>> reporter: just yesterday on air force one, the president said he briefly accepted a lecturing from putin yesterday in vietnam. every time he sees me he says, i didn't do that, the president said. and i really believe when he tells me that, i believe it. that didn't sit well with john mccain who said, quote, there is nothing america first about taking the word of a kgb colonel over that of the word of the u.s. intelligence committee. to that the president defended his comments. when will all the haters and fools out there realize that having a good relationship with putin is a good thing, not a bad thing? taunting kim jong-un saying, why would kim jong-un insult me by calling me old when i would never call him short and fat? oh, well, i try so hard to be his friend, and maybe someday that will happen. the president was asked if he

really meant that. could he become, quote, a friend of kim jong-un? >> that might be a strange thing to happen, but it's certainly a possibility. if that did hihangpp f,or -- i you -- for north korea, but it would also be good for lots of other places and it would be good for the world. so certainly it is something that could happen. i don't know that it ut it would be very, verlly, b nic it did. >> that was jonathan karl reporting. there is a new poll out this morning about the national anthem otpr californians are opposed to players kneeling, but they're even more opposed to how president trump has handled the situation. african-americans are overwhelmingly supportive of the protest. three-quarters of the protest are overwhelmingly opposed to it. 35% opposed the protest, 23% supported it.

californians disagree with the way the president has handled the kneeling 57 to 18%. california governor jerry brown has released a plan involving state's feelings of climate change despite the president's lack of interest. in germany, brown said the american people have the power to make a difference. the plan includes 20 states, 110 cities and more than 1,000 businesses. the u.s. is the second largest carbon dioxide-emitting nation, that from the european commission. wildfire victims looking to apply for the federal debris removal program. fema and the u.s. army corps of engineers will be at the santa rosa veterans building to answer questions, and you can stop by any time between 11:00 this morning and 3:00 this afternoon.

abc 7 news was in santa rosa yesterday where there was another resource fair. tomorrow is the application deadline for wildfire victims in sonoma county. homeowners must fill out a right to entry form to allow the cleanup. >> we're removing all the ash, we're removing whatever concrete needs to be removed. we're removing the foundations for each home because we have to get down and test the soil of every foundation to make sure there's no contaminants left. >> the army corps of engineers p professes to have several teams out there next week and they hope to have the cleanup done by early next year. people plan to gather for the me too campaign. they'll march down hollywood boulevard starting in just under half an hour, around 10:00 this morning.

the woman who started the me too hash tag is one of the featured speakers. this move was spurred by sexual assault in the entertainment industry, starting with harvey weinstein. oscar season has kicked off overnight with the governors awards. on the red carpet the stars were not only talking about fashion and film but also the recent headlines about sexual assault and harassment. abc news correspondent chris connelly has more. >> at saturday night's 2017 governments awards, they're sieg -- receiving oscars for long-time recipients. upcoming awards, too, while on the red carpet. talk about sexual harrassment comparisons which have compared close scrutiny with hollywood and brought about discussion here. >> i commend the men and women

slower and quicker. as we look outside with the flag blowing, we will look at a typical afternoon here. temperatures a little bit cooler than average, and as we check out live doppler 7, yes, we are looking at the cloud cover to the north sinking to the south bringing that first indication of rain in the north bay. so it's going to be an active week if you have any plans for the sierra nevada. the storm levels will start out high and then elevations mid-week could pick up from one to two feet for that second system. kind of hard to keep track. one exits and the other moves in. napa, 3 miles visibility, sunshine for the rest. even with the fog to the north, most of the north bay is enjoying some sun, anyway. kind of cool clouds there from our golden gate bridge camera. 55 in the city, 53 in san jose. 59 degrees on the peninsula. it's sunny.

should be a nice afternoon. mid-50s on the delta. 49 with the fog in santa rosa. we've got the fog, cool numbers, partly cloudy and then rain moving in late tonight from santa rosa perhaps in parts of marin county, but it is a 1 on our storm impact scale. a weak system focusing most of the precip to the north of us anywhere from three-quarters of an inch of rain in the north bay to about a quarter of an inch, p maybe .3 in the rest of the bay today. 10:00, scattered showers from sonoma, cloverdale and kayah. the rain line moves in for mid-afternoon, the peninsula stays with us for the evening commute. looking at a rainy east bay. also on the peninsula.

hometown hurrah. when you get off a bart train, the biggest thing standing between and you the outside world is the escalator. riders often complain that the escalators are broken. abc 7 news reporter jonathan bloom explains how bart is taking steps to fix them. >> reporter: if there's one thing bart riders have plenty to say about, it's their escalators. >> they need a lot of maintenance. >> reporter: how much do you think they're broken? >> in the last year, it's pretty much all the time. >> it can be inconvenient at times. >> it's really difficult for people to walk up those steps. >> reporter: bart knows the escalators are a problem. >> they've been around for so long, they're reaching that last stage of their life. >> reporter: bart's attempt at fixing them is this. walls that look like swiss cheese have sprouted up overnight. look through the holes and you can see construction about to
