san rafael bridge as we take a look there live. this is in san rafael, of course. be prepared, there could be slick spots by the time of your evening commute. and look, as we go up to sfo, you can see it is starting to look grayer there. those clouds a little foreboding. hovering over the airport. tracking the changing conditions for us. here with a look at what's in store for the rest of the day. >> the reason this is a 1, light showers and weak winds. up in the north bay we expect steadier rain, quarter inch to possibly a half inch in the mountai mountains. most spots less than a tenth of an inch. see scattered sprinkles to light showers just north of the airport near brisbane, over, say, the san mateo bridge. we have steadier rain north of santa rosa toward clear lake and to the east of ukiah. more showers developing offshore and could rotate in for the lunch hour and bring us scattered showers. over the next six hours or so, if we get steady rain it's going

to be mainly across the north bay. here's how the 12 hour day planner breaks out. this is kind of a precursor to the winter storm watch we have in tahoe. we'll get to that in a second. here's a look at our 12:00 p.m. temperatures in the low to mid 60s. with scattered showers. scattered showers continue, best in the north bay at 4:00. temperatures about the same. the showers start to fade by 9:00. we clear out and a much cooler morning on the way at tomorrow morning. i've got an efstronger storm coming up in the accuweather seven-day forecast. >> thanks very much. track the forecast on the go all day with the abc 7 news accuweather app. search accuweather in our app store to download it now. neighbors in some fire-ravaged north bay communities are being worned to prepare to leave at moment's notice should the latest storm bring mudslides and flooding. abc 7 news reporter amy hollyfield is live in santa rosa with the latest danger. amy? >> reporter: hi, kristen, look behind me, this is the one street they have barricaded, cross creek road in the fountain

grove neighborhood because they found damaged pipe underneath this road. notice this street was wiped out by fire. this doesn't impact too many people. there are no homes left on this street. but they do have it barricaded because they are concerned that -- because there's damaged pipes underneath that creates a cavity so there's nothing there. nothing there to support the runoff from rain. video technicians are at it again this morning in santa rosa, sending tiny cameras underground and looking to see if the pipes were damaged from last month's fires. over the weekend, they found some that were melted. catching them by surprise. >> never seen it before. you see it kind of just deteriorate away from years of use, but melted out of the ground is pretty crazy. >> reporter: they have more than 140 miles of pipe to inspect. the director of the water department in santa rosa says they made new discoveries today, they have engineers assessing the possible impact.

>> we are finding additional locations which is actually a good thing because that allows us to get on top of the issue and not be surprised by sinkholes or other issues that could be created by it. >> reporter: so far, they have found at least 20 spots in the fountain grove neighborhood where they have lost some pipe. in this video from drone view 7, you see the hills in this neighborhood, and that is one concern here. if a damaged pipe has a hill above it, and the damage causes a sinkhole at the site of the pipe, it could trigger a mudslide. we asked about the level of concern officials have right now. they labeled it as being reasonably cautious. >> we have not found any areas where we've had to take the step to evacuate properties and that would really be the indication of where we are immediate concerns and so far, so far none have presented that. >> reporter: and no evacuations at this time. and it hasn't been a washout this morning. we've had a couple of light rain

showers. those slvideo technicians think they'll be working through tomorrow inspecting all the pipes. live in santa rosa, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. north bay property owners have until today to sign up to have the government remove ash and debris from burned out homes in sonoma county. abc 7 news was at the veterans memorial building in santa rosa over the weekend, people met face-to-face with county agencies and fema to get questions answered and make arrangements. hole owners can opt to foot the bill to hire a private contractor to remove debris. happening now, firefighters in marin county are searching for hot spots after putting out a fire in la gunitas. the fire department tweeted the piture of this fire at a two-story home on mountain view avenue. see the roof engulfed in flames. firefighters say they successfully kept the fire from spreading to the greenery around it. a woman is in custody after a ten-hour standoff with san jose police. officers were called out to a home on holly drive around 6:00 last night.

for a report of two people fighting. they say a woman was upset over a parking situation. and at one point, waved a weapon at neighbors. then holed up inside her home. neighbors were evacuated from their homes overnight. police got the woman to surrender peacefully. she's now in the santa clara county jail and will face multiple charges. happening today, san francisco police officer critically injured in a hit-and-run is getting better and is being moved into a rehab facility. officer elia lewis tankel suffered a serious brain injury last month. he was on bike patrol on turk street october 18th when he was struck by the vehicle of a fleeing suspect. that suspect, 50-year-old m marquis johnson was later arrested after a citywide manhunt. the 49ers are feeling the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. their first win of the season came just hours after wide receiver marquise goodwin lost his newborn premature son. abc 7 news reporter matt keller is live in santa clara with the

story. matt? >> reporter: kristen, the game, of course, seems secondary to what happens in real life. especially something as tragic as this. the 49ers celebrated their first win of the season inside the levi stadium locker room after beating the new york giants 31-21. a key play in the victory, marquise goodwin with the 83-yard touchdown. >> wide open from the speedster. goodwin. and goodwin is gone! >> reporter: but unknown to many the wide receiver was dealing with a very personal tragedy. he broke down in the end zone dropping to both knees and falling into his hands as his teammates gathered around him. espn sports center explained the moment this morning. >> after his 83-yard touchdown catch, the emotions came pouring out. just hours before the game wo goodwin and his wife lost their baby boy due to complications of her pregnancy. >> reporter: he posted on instagram a heartbreaking photo

and said his son died after being born prematurely. he wrote "unfortunately we lost our baby boy due to complications and had to prematurely deliver him this morning around 4:00 a.m. although we're hurt i'm grateful for the experience and god blessed me with a wife as courageous and resilient as morgan. the pain physically, mentally and emotionally she has endured is unbelievable. please pray for the goodwin family." we reached tout the 49ers, coach shanahan will talk about goodwin at his press conference today at 4:30. reporting live in santa clara, matt keller, abc 7 news. >> matt, thank you. new this morning, former niners quarterback colin kaepernick is on the cover of "gq" once again, not for his playing but for his not playing. kaepernick is "gq's" citizen of the year. the magazine tweeted this picture, it says the 30-year-old has been vilified by millions and locked out of the nfl all because he took a knee to protest police brutality.

kaepernick drew national attention last year for kneeling dur t during the national anthem prior to football games. 49ers fans we spoke with says kaepernick deserves the recognition. >> oh, yeah, no, for sure. he's come a long way just with the whole kneeling thing. i think it's a great thing for him to do. you know? so -- >> i think it's a great thing. i did see him on instagram this morning. he was front page of the magazine. so, hey. >> the last time kaepernick was on the cover of "gq" was 2013 when he was featured as one of the best football players in the world. another bay area sports superstar is also being recognized by the magazine this year. the warriors' kevin durant is this year's "gq" champion of the year. the magazine says durant gets the honor for the clutch game-winning shot on game three of the nba finals. not in my neighborhood. the community meeting to stop a gun store from opening on the peninsula. plus in today's "morning money report," twitter is trying something different. it's launching a new show.

developing news out of the middle east, rescue efforts are under way after what's set to be the deadliest earthquake of the year. at least 407 people died after a powerful 7.3 magnitude quake hit near the iraq/iran border last

night. about 4,000 people are injured. entire buildings collapsed. hospitals damaged. soldiers have set up field hospitals as crews transport the wounded to other cities. the devastation has captured international attention. italy is sending tents, mobile kitchens and other assistance to the region. allegations against alabama's roy moore. now said moore should step aside and let somebody else run on behalf of the gop. moore is accused of pursuing relationships with teenage girls while in his 40s. a report from the "washington post" claims he made sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl decades ago. >> i believe the that's an option we're looking at. whether or not there's someone who can mount a write-in campaign successfully. >> mcconnell did not say who alabama republicans are considering as a write-in candidate. moore has said he will not drop out of the race.

he threateneded ed ted to sue "washington post" for publishing the allegations. happening today, expected to be a contentious meeting over plans to open a new gun store in san carlos. flyers posted around the community, it bears the headline "keep our community safe" and encourages residents to attend. up until a few weeks ago plans were full steam ahead for turner's outmens store on industrial road. because of increasing community response, the issue is now heading before the city council. members are expected to decide whether to impose a more tatori on all gun shops. >> i understand that people feel this is a right of theirs and i just want to ask them where's our right to say what makes us safer? >> the city council is anticipating record crowds tonight. they're setting up two overflow rooms. one upstairs at city hall, and another at the adult community center. the meeting starts at 7:00. get ready for twitter tv.

if you're looking for love it turns out the bay area is the right place to be. san francisco is the best city for single people according to personal financial website, wallet hub. it compared more than 180 u.s. cities and looked at 32 key indicators of dating friendliness. for example, the number of single people online dating opportunities, and nightlife. san francisco came in as number one. south burlington, vermont, is considered the worst. >> neither of us have to worry about it. >> exactly. been married a long time. not too each oa each other. you know. also good restaurants, too, i imagine singles like that as well. right? >> we enjoy those. >> good weather for going out and hiking. maybe not this week quite so much. >> tomorrow and possibly a couple days before another chance this weekend. sem several chances of rain. even though it's not raining at sfo, we have 53 minute arrival delays. mostly cloudy even if it is

sunny right now. clouds increase this afternoon. scattered light showers around. chance tapers tonight. cooler weather tomorrow. a heavier storm coming in for wednesday and thursday. here's one of the areas seeing a whole lot of sunshine, the south bay. this is 280. look at temperatures. 68 degrees there. sunny and 68 in livermore. as you get to the north where the clouds are thicker, we're in the 50s from santa rosa northward. now as far as the cloud cover, you can see it starting to encroach upon the south bay. your day will get grayer. see those showers starting to develop along the coast. you're not out of the woods just yet. not going to get a lot of rain. just enough to kind of be a nuisance. maybe not enough to take an umbrella unless you're up in the north bay. as we head trohroughout the afternoon into the evening commute at 4:00, see right there, best chance of rain in the north bay. starting to slide into the north bay. starting 10:00 through about 2:00 in the morning, we'll have a slight chance of showers in the south bay then wake up tomorrow morning clearing during the morning commute. that's why it's going to be so

much cooler. let's take a look at our rainfall. up until 7:00, the evening commute right in, best chance of anything measurable, being slib slick, oakland, san francisco, northward overnight. see not much more develops. a little bit around mountain view and also in toward san ramon. today's temperatures 59 half moon bay to 60 at santa rosa, 69 down in the south bay. we almost reached our heating for the day with the clouds getting thicker. tonight, see them open. 44 at santa rosa to 49 at concord to 50 at tokelaoakland. 53 in san francisco and san jose. the next storm, this is why we're going to think about pushing it up to a 2, right now it's a 1 for wednesday night into thursday. look at this. three quarters of an inch of rain. to possibly an inch and a quarter up in the north bay. it's going to bring breezes with it. as you can see, they will increase wednesday. starting to gust around 25 to 30 miles per hour at 1:00 wednesday afternoon. hitting 30 to 35, maybe even 40 as we head toward 5:00. then they'll start to pull back as we head through the evening

hours. so it's going to have more rain, more wind and look at all this snow. at the pass levels, about 8 to 18 inches. above 8,000 feet. from wednesday at 10:00 in the morning to friday at 4:00 in the evening. we could double that easily. all right. so here's my accuweather seven-day forecast. morning clouds to afternoon sunshine tomorrow. temperatures about the same as today. with the rain wednesday into thursday, temperatures will be cooler, mainly in the mid to upper 50s. it will be dry friday. then there's a weak storm possible saturday and sunday. we're going to keep an eye on wednesday for sure, kristen, could be our first 2 of the season. >> oh, all right, thanks, mike. now today's "morning money report," twitter is announcing plans for the first show exclusively on the social need what site. san francisco-based twitter is teaming up with a media andcowe global to take the idea across the pond to the uk. the show called "pop buzz presents" will air this thursday. one of the co-hosts is liam payne who reached boy band super stardom as a member of one direction.

the show will be broadcast on twitter weekly after its launch. uber says it's one step closer to becoming a publicly traded company. the san francisco-based ride hailing company has struck a deal with an investment group led by japan's softbank. agreement could be worth as much as $10 billion and would include changes to uber's leadership. softbank plans to buy $1 billion worth of newly issued shares giving it ownership of about 14% of uber. the ride-hailing giant aims to go public by 2019. the deal could also help fund expansion. new this morning, taylor swift fans rejoice. the music superstar is taking her show on the road and it includes a stop right here in the bay area. swift will perform at levi stadium in santa clara on may 12th. this is video of her last performance there in swift's sixth album "reputation" was released on friday and it amassed 700,000 albums sold on its first day. no word yet when tickets will go
